  • Watch my Time Crisis 2 / タイムクライシス2 completion, recorded in high quality right from the arcade cabinet!
Like my Time Crisis 1 Arcade run, I'm playing on the actual arcade with the arcade controls. No emulation here!
There are quite a lot of slight differences in the Arcade version of Time Crisis II. Of course, there is a different HUD, and all graphics looking different, far more colourful than the PS2 version. The scoring for the bonus enemies is sometimes higher on the arcade. But the combo timer is shorter in the arcade version, and it feels harder to hit enemies, which makes it harder to maintain the no miss hit bonus. Also, the stage 2 boss swings the rocket around differently, and the time bonuses aren't the same too. At least I have the arcade version of Time Crisis 2 now!
These differences made it take a while for me to reach 2 million. I aim to also reach and exceed 2 million while doing the stage 2 bonus route, which I know I'm still not doing! I'd like to return to the PS2 version to see what I can do with what I've learned since getting the arcade.
    Thanks for watching

He is firing an assault rifle on full auto at what is typically close range, failing to score any hits on the VSSE agents yet the VSSE agents needed six seconds (you can see the hit at 5:15) to kill him. To actually address your comment, yeah there's exceedingly little good arcade capture footage: this video, Fighters' Choice Arcade and Smraedis' 1CC Marathon video. The only thing I could criticise is that it's excessively bright and that really detracts from the lighting. Not sure if that's due to the capture software or Smraedis turned it up on the machine or during editing or what. Funnily enough, Fighters' Choice Arcade's TC2 video is really dark.
Nevertheless, I love this video and the skill on display is out of this world. This inspired me to try and really git gud at the game.

  • @nivyan
    @nivyan Před 4 lety +5

For fellow high-scorers, here's things he missed:
In case you don't know; bonus areas in stage 1 and 3 unlocks by shooting the first boss' hat off at each encounter during the second area, against Wild Dog, you have to shoot him 45(?) times before he transitions to the last area.
Stage 1 is pretty clean, only that all boats can be triple-shot, but hard to do.
    Stage 2
    - When you get the machine gun and face the tank-like enemy. It's possible to dodge the tree and keep your combo going.
    - Missed second stage secret area. After getting on the train and clearing the hall, when you turn to face the train beside you - 3 yellow guys appear. Shooting all 3 takes you to a bonus area similar to the first stage.
You get ~2000 more than the regular route with a combo, but is a bit harder so much just be player choice. He doesn't even go for the first guy.
    - Missed the orange bonus guy in the boss fight; he's in the helicopter as the boss turns toward you to shoot.
    Stage 3
    - The helicopter falling the background of the very first area can be shot for bonus points
    - All the stage 1 regular enemy areas can be combo'ed, delay the killing blow on 'transition' enemies to keep it going.
    - Wild Dog can be shot while winding up for the punch in the duo fight (after the kick)
    - Very last part of last fight - you can duck between rockets, take a single shot, and duck again between rockets to keep combo going.
    - Not shooting Diaz at all during the last fight gives more shots, player shoots a killing blow on Diaz when he had ~5 more shots at the solar panels which were turning around for him to shoot.
Generally it's interesting to see another player shoot, he plays slow and methodical - prioritizes combo over time bonus. Generally quicker 3 shots on enemies that isn't to keep the combo going would reward a lot of time bonus points.
'Max' score is ~2'350'000 imo. Even with perfect combos, its plateaued around 2'200'000; only speed gives more points. Aggressive shooting is best for learning imo: Getting the feel for very fast areas helps a lot when you then learn to combo.

I love this game so much and played it to death in the arcade! I could 1CC the game every time, and I eventually did it without taking damage. One thing eluded me - I could never work out the best way to score - It's obvious the combo is really important but I want to know how important a fast time is. After the awesome Time Crisis 1 time-based system I wanted so much for TCII to really reward speed, lol.

I remember this game fondly, not just for being part of my childhood, but for letting me actually finish it on the arcade machine. You see, I went to Spain on holiday as a kid, and tucked away in a random corner of the hotel was a Time Crisis 2 machine, and it was broken in the best way: one euro gave you like three or four credits instead of just one. I asked my mum for about ten euros because I knew that this was the best chance I had of actually getting to see the end of the game without bankrupting myself, AND I DID AND IT WAS AWESOME!
P.S. I literally pumped my fist into the air when I heard Ernesto Diaz speak with his REAL voice instead of the shitty one they dubbed in later for some reason.
