- Pokemon Journeys has been heavily criticized for a lack of focus, specifically for the lack of continuity between Journeys and previous series. However, things seem to be changing (partially in thanks to Dawn, let's be real).

@@yarc9 that high five symbolizes the close relationship Ash and Dawn has, so them not doing it seems very odd and out of character for them. It's because they did it a lot back then that it is weird that they didn't this time...
That is the least of the problem. If you paid attention, Ash never even greeted her. Was more in the lines of ”what are YOU doing here..?” Also did you see that soulless interraction of Pikachu and Piplup. No hug, nothing just a blank face of hi. Such a weird way of handling it
I loved Dawn's return, I'm just a little disappointed that we didn't get much of an update from her. She was moreso a spectator and a tool for Chloe's growth rather than an actual return. We didn't even get much of an update from her- like has her Pokemon evolved, has she become a Top Coordinator, which region is she heading to next. Honestly, if they were to make her be Chloe's companion and mentor, I wouldn't be against that. I think Pokemon contests need a comeback, I miss watching the performances, and Chloe becoming a coordinator alongside Dawn would be pretty damn epic.
But kudos to the writing them, they knew Dawn and Piplup are beloved and so spanned their episodes to be longer.
Yeah, I would have enjoyed seeing Buneary, Pachirisu, Mamoswine, Togekiss, and Quilava from Dawn besides Piplup. Heck, I wonder if Quilava has evolved into Typhlosion
Journeys has the potential to be one of the best series if the creators keep focusing on character development like they’ve done with Chloe during Dawn’s return.

What I don't like about Journeys is that there is way too much focus on Goh. The writers of the Pokémon anime have forgotten who's the main character of the anime is, and not only that, but they have forgotten that you can not just throw a Pokeball and instantly catch a Pokémon that easily. I get they want to try something new, but let's be honest here Pokémon go is a spin-off game. Honestly, this game has no place in the main series. So, therefore Goh has no place in the anime. He is hogging up screen time. It should have centered on the real main character of the series. A show that is all about him is sad and depressing to see what the anime has turned into a Pokémon go anime. If that is the new direction of the anime is quite possibly going to lose a lot of viewers.

I hope we see Koharu in more major arcs after this. She could use a lot more development and I'd like to see her set more pokemon.

I'm happy that Dawn is returning in two episodes in Pokemon Master Journey Series but I am a little disappointed that I didn't get to see the rest of her Pokemon beside Piplup and I did see her Togekiss but only in the flashback. And to be honest I was hoping to see both Dawn's Buneary and Quilava to finally evolved into Lopunny and Typhlosion off screen during her journey because Lopunny is my favourite and very beautiful, while Typhlosion could make for Dawn's Piplup never evolved fully. I'm still hoping that Dawn will returns again in winter special and this see the return of the rest of her team and fingers crossed that Dawn's Buneary and Quilava have finally evolved into Lopunny and Typhlosion off screen🤞
It sucks that we didn't get to see her progress on her journeys. She has gone through many regions, participating in contests and we didn't even get to see anything other than Piplup.

I doubt we are gonna see Dawn again, the main purpose of Dawn was to bring a character development in Chloe which they might have done a pretty good job bringing back DP references.
My only argument with this series, When it comes to filler episodes they normally don’t connect to the main cast. It is very episodic and most of the time, the featured characters in the episode has nothing to do with the end goal. Its centers too much around Sportsmanship and Companionship and leaves no room for in-depths artistic writing.
The Pokémon anime has always been a big billboard advertising for the Franchise. It’s spent so much time showing off different Pokémon to the point where the story or plot runs all over the place instead of focusing on one specific point.
For example Ash wants to be on top of the world championship pyramid right? Why is there one rank championship battle in between 15 or 20 filler episodes?! Why isn’t there enough training session episodes that will contrast Ash’s end goal? At first I thought it was OK to skip some matches done over the course of the series, But looking at it now They should have made more episodes based on those off screen battles and training moments.
I'm glad Ginger made this video addressing the issue and that it's being fixed but of course there will be people that still complain and make Journeys look worse than it is like they used to do with Black and White and Sun and Moon.
I think journeys has been going great so far , ofcourse it has its problems just like every series but it's good for the most part , people have problems with literally every series and character in the Pokémon community , I wish people became a bit mature and appreciated all series and characters instead of trash talking each other's favourite series and character which literally most people do in this community no matter what they are biased towards
I will say this, I love Pokémon journeys, Even more than before. Journeys have improved so much now. So many callbacks and returning characters.

Jessie should bring Mimikyu back for good just like Wobbufet. Of all Jessie’s Pokémon, Mimikyu feels like it makes the most sense to stay with Jessie because of its rivalry with Pikachu, and it’s like Jessie’s strongest Pokémon by far

What needs to happen, is they need to go back and see Kurt and FINALLY open up the GS Ball.
Ah. The driving plot point behind the largely throw away Orange Islands and part of Jhoto… and then nothing ever came of it because it was just forgotten. Talk about a wasted opportunity.
It'd be so cool to see Cyrus return and find out what happened to him after all these years. Obviously we'd like to see all of Ash's other friends return, but the writers have stated that for them to do so, there needs to be a story where their returns would actually make sense. Hopefully Gen 9 doesn't begin until late 2023; not only would that give Game Freak to develop the new games, but it would also give another year for Journeys episodes
Personally I want the Journeys to hurry up and conclude. Its been nothing but the Goh show. Even the returns aren't enough for me to give it a watch. The XY series, while not my favorite, it had the best Animation out of them all, it had a competent Ash and the returns would've looked much better in that animation than in this current one
@@MarioSonicDKPokeFAN Same. The shows not going to get any better at this point and it’s done to much to disrespect the fans with stuff like grookey , suicune and eternitus. It has shown the writers don’t care about the bigger picture and will whatever just for a quick moment . At this point the only way for things to get better is to hope the next series will quit it with all the episodic silly nonsense and go back to being an actual journey like the older seasons.
And, maybe... There's hope that the writers will make better use for Ash's other powerhouse Pokemon that didn't show up in the Moltres episode, like Sceptile and Greninja, that they will have good arcs when they appear. Maybe Sceptile can battle against Tobias's Darkrai again, and maybe reunite with someone else like Blaziken and/or Meganium for example... Greninja can maybe meet Ash's Lucario and tie in with Serena's return...
He released Greninja tho, so I don't see that happening sadly. Serena's retunr would be cool, but I doubt it, since I don't think they wanna mention the kiss scene.
@@Kaitotaku One, there was a quote that mentioned that the writers would try to bring back all of Ash's Companions at some point... Also, even though Greninja was released, he is still very popular and I don't say how there isn't a way he won't come back at some point down the road. Finally, you never know about references... Seeing how many callbacks Journeys has made already. Heck, if they bring back someone like Sceptile... Who knows what callbacks they'll bring up there.
@@CoolNala They said they wanted to "show" every companion, means it could only be cameos and flashbacks, cause as example, May probably wouldn't do a proper return cause her japanese actress has a throat illness and wouldn't be able to voice her.

I've been binging the series for the past week since episode 1. I'm at 65, and this is absolutely the best Pokémon anime that we could've asked for. There's just like 3 or 4 episodes that felt a little flat, but aside from that every episode brings something of interest or just genius raw comedy.
It's only fanservice without any depth whatsoever
Now we need is more references to xy.
With everyone returning I think we may get Serena at some point as well that would be a good episode with reference to x and y
It seemed like with journeys that it was just filler and lately we have been getting some actually good episodes

I don't know if this sounds greedy, I REALLY don't mean it to be, but I feel like the second part of the Dawn return left something to be desired in terms of fanservice. Was it too much to ask for seeing Dawn's other Pokemon in the flesh or the signature high five (even Unova had that) I still liked the episode but I think it could've bemefitted from a third part reflecting on the more mundane stuff like the Contest Dawn was talking about.

That’s one problem Journeys is adressing, but it has many others, mainly The Pokémon of Ash and Goh. Ash’s non pikachu Pokémon are so underdeveloped, only having a couple battles. People hated Jhoto and Unova but It still felt like ash had a team or other Pokémon, in Journeys it’s exciting just to see Lucario, and that’s bad. Goh’s goal is to catch every Pokémon, but outside of galar starters and kinda farfetch’d and scizor, he hasn’t developed with most of them. Lastly, FILLER, why is there so much.
Journeys has been improving since 50 with less episodes taking place in Kanto, or if they do, they are at least pretty interesting, less filler(we still get it and it can be bad like 52 and 61), more continuity, and overall being more exciting
It is the best series in pokemon.

It’s been hard to support the Journey Series because they have a lack of focusing on a story main story or at least the story they want to tell is not as interesting as they’ve show. I know last year was difficult, but that no excuse for making the Series feel rushed and boring. I still hope that Journey’s can improve, but aside from some good moments and the returning characters is helping, but Journey has been as great as it should bee! I’m saying that Journey’s doesn’t feel like a Journey with Ash and Goh being at the lab in Kanto all the time. Maybe, their trying to preparing Chloe to fully join them to go on a real Journey, but we’ll see if that happens.

I know that I can watch them right now, but I wait for the episodes to come to America’s Netflix, so that I don’t have to worry about subtitles. I am watching specials that only aired in Japan like the Pikachu shorts and the ones centering on Ash’s former companions like with Clemont, Bonnie, and Cilan, etc. But it’s great that they are appearing with Ash again in the main series, and I hope they continue doing that.

The problem with this series is that writers can't manage the episodes they write. It is so obvious in episode like the 27th (where they introduced Sonia, Rose, Farfetch'd, showed the battle between Leon and Lance and ended with Sobble, ALL in one freaking episode), or the Infernape reunion one, which was the biggest disappointment of this series. Now, these new episodes about Dawn are disappointing too. At least her relationship with Chloe (who is the only main character with a good development in this series) was told well. But then you see the Rocket Trio that appears and disappears out of nowhere, an already seen Darkrai and Cresselia story, where Dawn didn't do nothing special to justify her presence, and Ash that almost seems annoyed of seeing his friend again. Why couldn't they take more time for evolving the relationship between Chloe and Dawn, which was the only interesting thing of this episodes? Why making them perform if in the end no one partecipates in this Pokémon Contest they talked about? I feel like they try to insert 100 things in one episode but they mess up with almost everything. The Darkest Day arc had its little problems, but in the end it was good, because they took 4 episodes, which was enough. What's the thing that stops them from doing this again? An useless filler episode like the Plusle and Minun one?

The only region that hasn't gotten much fanservice in Journeys is Hoenn:
Kanto.....do we really need to talk about Kanto?
Johto got Chuck and a flashback to his battle.
Sinnoh got Dawn, Paul flashbacks and soon Volkner.
Unova got Iris.
Kalos got Korrina.
Alola got....Alola.
Advance is the only series to not get anything so far. No gym leaders no Frontier Brains, no May or Max. Hell, the ONLY Hoenn Ash Pokemon to make an appearance in the Gary episode was Corphish which made no sense when you realized Infernape was fighting all of Ash's Fire types. So where the hell was Torkoal? Does Journeys have something against Advance. It was forgettable but not bad.

The thing with Kalos is that fans care about Ash visiting Clemont and Bonnie or Greninja 1000% more. Remember in XYZ, Serena headed sinnoh or where they have the pokemon contests.

In episode 83, Ash and Goh meet Sinnoh Champion Cynthia in Jhoto. You will love that one.
This episode was Disappointing, we don't see any of Dawn's other pokemon.

Yea I agree on the continuity bit. Though I haven't watched season 2 of journeys, season 1 was all over the place. Almost every episode had its own arc, and when they visited the other regions, the regions weren't even shown off.
I have high hopes for this series, its so good and just makes me giddy when old characters or flashbacks happen. I hope one day they address Ashs father though and some other things (pokemon he left behind)
to be honest its the same with every series that halfway through there's a drop in general enjoyment as you've already got all the marketing and promotions for most of the series but you still want everything.
I don't mind about the lack of callbacks or direction because there is more to come and the series really has to establish its roots for it to work.
Chloe is actually going to be relevant. That's the best fix I've heard so far.

I am technically worried to see the dubbed versions of these episodes since not all of the voice actors/voice actresses could come back.
We have nothing to worry about with Gary's since Jimmy Zoppi does 2 main voices.
Dawn's voice actress; Emily Jenness should be doable since she still returns to do Matori, Giovanni's basically Manager Agent.
Iris' actor however is questionable since Eileen Stevens actually left so anything she did in Sun and Moon, she had to be replaced with.
I really hope They Fix Goh's character more and i Hope he actually uses more then the Galaries pokemon instead of just 1 pokemon. Or at least use more of all the pokemon he caught. See more of Sueicune and Zapdose. I'm happy that The writing and animation as a whole has improved.
when is journeys coming out with the next season
So I haven’t been watching Pokemon journeys for like 2 months. So I didn’t even know she was coming. Ginger should I continue watching journeys. I stopped watching around episode 70 of the newest one. So the entire arc of ash and goh going to a snowy mountain.
Me personally I skip the filler episodes and really only watch the episodes where old characters return or when Ash and Goh have a battle or mission.
Personally I'd recommend watching!
I honestly stopped watching the series because of the amount of filler episodes, I'd only watch the episodes I like.

I don't think we're getting Lillie and Gladion any time soon. We got Gary, Iris, and Dawn in the span of like 2 or 3 months.

I swear if we see Paul (in more than just a flashback) I will loose my mind. Gary is already great for me, Iris and Dawn are fantastic too but Paul would revert me too a child. I don't think it will happen but yet I never thought we would get as much as we have got.

I highly doubt Cyrus will ever come back cause he's the only Team Villain boss who gets what they wanted in the end. Cyrus wanted to be in a world by himself and he got it, so I don't think it's necessary for him to come back, if he's still alive anyway. What I do see happening in the Dialga and Palkia episodes is the Matori Matrix gets involved. I say this is most likely cause they've shown up twice in Journeys so far, both times have been in Sinnoh, the Elite Squad use Sinnoh Pokemon and to be more specific, the Pokemon they use are the same ones the Team Galactic admins have.

Half of the series completed but still no progression in ash's development and his pokemons team. Chloe's goal needs to be set and start to travel with ash at this time but not happened yet.
However I am just watching Pokemon journeys previews and youtuber speculation videos because they just entertains than the actual episodes.
Still holding out on the possible plot twist that Cyrus created the chibi world as his ideal world.
I honestly still hate journeys. Dawn coming back is amazing and I love to see her, but she’s a character in her own right not just plot progression and character development for another. The relationship she has with Chloe is pretty cool but we don’t learn anything too much about what Dawn has been doing. Also another moan, can we pleaseeeeeee just get some more Ash focused episodes. Some were good, but Gary being Gohs new rival really irks me it genuinely feels as though the main man is being pushed into the background more and more. Maybe they’re going to finally acknowledge Ash being the champion but why was that not acknowledged in the slightest when he went to alola? I know no Pokemon series is entirely perfect but Journeys just annoys me in a way no other Pokemon series ever did, not even Best wishes despite all its flaws:/

Other regions' champions go out, manage the region, and mentor trainers. Alola's champion goes back home and wanders around on vacation outside of the region all the time.

I honestly don't give a damn about them going to old regions, i just want to see Galar, like why aren't they going to Galar or doing it's gym battles, it is one of my favourite regions and we have barely seen it.
Because that's not the point of the series, why have ash go again doing gym battles to compete in a regional league when he's already champion, sure he can probably battle the some of the galar leaders under certain circumstances but the entire series being focused on traveling galar just wouldn't have worked plotwise

For what it is is cool, but it barely incorporates any galar characters. No classic gym battles either. And that’s seriously disappointing considering sword and shield has the coolest characters. Imagine bede and Marnie joining the journey! That would be so cool and their characters would work off each other so well.
Galar shouldn't be a main focus but yeah more galar characters need to appear, and as for lack of gyms, the world championship battles seem like a good replacement to me the problem is there's just not enough of them
