Mewtwo is pretty much a child and Mew is probably the first Pokémon to exist after Arceus made the Creation Trio. What's one random human dying supposed to mean for Mew when they've probably seen countless things die and will probably see countless more pass on or end.
That's because Mew was a psycho in the original Japanese version of that movie. It shows up specifically to murder Mewtwo and the clones because it thinks they don't have a right to live. Naturally, that was pretty... extreme, so the dub makes Mew good instead.
People really do be brushing off the death of Sorrel's Luxray tho. We see its dead, frozen body with a peaceful look on its face, seemingly knowing it would die, still willing to do anything to protect its friend. That really struck a cord with me.
Stoutland dying from old age and Luxray dying to protect its trainer from the cold always get me sobbing. Pokemon has really gotten skilled at tugging at the heartstrings ;___;
Those original deaths were really dark. Edit: also, ash jumping into the attacks is the stupidest thing he could have done. Maybe it would make more sense if I saw the movie but from what I know, that is the dumbest thing he could have done.

You forgot about Mallow’s mother. In the episode “Memories In the Mist” Mallow reveals to Lana that her mom got sick and was in the hospital when Mallow was young. She kept apologizing to Mallow for being sick all the time and this caused a young Mallow to lash out at her mom. The last words Mallow said to her mom before she died were “I hate you!” Mallow later met her dead mother in Tapu Fini’s mist and they had a heart to heart where they thanked each other for all the moments they shared together.
It makes the "I Choose You!" movie look like the actual end of Pokemon's first season since Ash got revived by that Ho-oh he witnessed in the very first episode (also titled "I Choose You!") at the end of said episode. It also makes Mewtwo Strikes Back look like a red herring movie.

The Luxray death in I Choose You made me sob pretty hard. You only got to know it for maybe a couple minutes but just the fact it sacrificed itself by staying out of it's ball during a blizzard to keep the kid alive...goddamn.
Honestly, the most shocking for me was Hunter J. It came totally out of the blue, just BOOM Future Sight and she crashes into the water. Then her airship crashes into the water and the windows break and it floods the ship and explodes. I was STUNNED, but I loved it! Diamond and Pearl is the greatest season!!

But once it sees Ash and Pikachu, it flies off to who knows where. Then the next time they see it, Goh once again tries catching it, but Ash gets him to hold off when he notices someone riding it only to be horrified when it's revealed to be J. She could even have an updated appearance with longer hair (she'd look good with it, don't deny it😳), a new visor since she lost the old one, and an even more dangerous version of her old arm cannon since the old one probably got waterlogged. Her new arm cannon could even have less charge time thus allowing for rapid fire. On top of that, only she could change her targets back to normal with a press of a button on her arm cannon and gives out a control device that does the same for her clients. Therefore, if any of Ash's, Goh's, or Chloe's Pokémon are captured by her, they would either have to get their hands on a remote or risk their lives by stealing her arm cannon. And this time, she could even get a little physical and try beating Ash into the ground herself.

Wouldn't be surprised if like Goh's Voltorb, Chloe's Eevee, or literally most of Ash's journeys team was captured. She has tried killing more than once, and if her Pokémon failed to do it, she would most likely try to do it herself. Her only qualm with Ash is that he occasionally hinders her, but even then it barely fazes her, heck in her debut episode just before she gets away and drops Ash and some of her crew in the hangar she says "guess i have to find a new Absol and Gardevoir", and as far as I'm aware Ash has only successfully stopped her completely _ONCE_ in the Shieldon episode. And while, yes she has no qualms in people dying in the process of her bounty hunting, i feel as if she wouldn't attempt a personal physical assault unless it's literally the *ONLY* possible option she has.

@@driley1988 she was honestly super wasted. She was a really cool character, but the pokemon anime does what it always did, it pussied out when making her or Cyrus. They were far too afraid to write a sympathetic villain, or even make them more charismatic. So Cyrus was just plain awful in the anime, a complete 180 to what he should have been. And J was just the most wasted villain of all time who got the shaft because she will never appear in any superior media of pokemon.

Ass for as J I feel like they really wanted to make a villain that you could actually take seriously. Most villains in pokemon were jokes, and I think that's why J was loved. The moment when she and her crew drowned and blown up in her ship you knew that they were killed. There are 23 fewer deaths in Jirachi Wish Maker than you listed. The people and pokémon captured by the false groudon didn’t die, it was slowly draining their life over time, but the movie repeatedly cuts to the fake groudon’s innards, showing that those it ate are still alive in there.
Oh boy, none of the anime deaths hit me to hard with the exception of Stoutland and Mallow's mother, (Major spoilers for the ORAS arc in the Pokemon manga, dip now if you don't want to see them) but in the manga, the Hoenn Champion, Steven Stone, passes after he spends 2 weeks to a month controlling the Regi Trio in attempt to quell Groudon and Kyoger. He is my absolute favorite character so his death hurt way more then it should have. In the end Celebi did work its time magic and revived him but ow my heart :( Mans went out like a legend though, controlling 3 separate legendary pokemon is a feat in and of itself.
You missed a few, Snubbul in the Lugia movie, the old man with the ghastly, Haunter, and Gengar in Pokemon Xy/Xyz, and the death of the Snubbul in Pokemon The Power of us. Otherwise you did amazing! It's kinda creepy to think one of the more child friendly animes had so many deaths. Revived or not there is still way more deaths in Pokemon than certain animes you'd expect more deaths in. I still can't watch the stoutland episode without breaking down in tears. As sad an episode it is in general what hits tks episode out of the park, for me personally, is that i had to put my dog down a couple months before and the wounds were still fresh as of me first seeing the episode.

Latios' death in the movie gave depression for like two weeks especially since they were replaying that movie everyday for a week when I watched it on TV as a kid.
There was another death in episode 232, Just Waiting on a Friend. Ninetales’ owner leaves and never returns, and we hear that, after a century of waiting, Ninetales comes to the correct conclusion that its owner is no longer alive. I’m not sure that Ash actually died in space, though. I think he was just freezing and Victini warmed him up.

Part of me always hoped J would come back someday. Like god damn so few appearances but who else has actually tried to legit kill Ash or force him into a situation where he himself has to harm a Pokemon?

@@driley1988 she was honestly super wasted. She was a really cool character, but the pokemon anime does what it always did, it pussied out when making her or Cyrus. They were far too afraid to write a sympathetic villain, or even make them more charismatic. So Cyrus was just plain awful in the anime, a complete 180 to what he should have been. And J was just the most wasted villain of all time who got the shaft because she will never appear in any superior media of pokemon.

Ass for as J I feel like they really wanted to make a villain that you could actually take seriously. Most villains in pokemon were jokes, and I think that's why J was loved. She wasn't a pushover like most villains in the Anime and she just didn't give a damn. Tried to kill ash multiple times, the woman was out for blood. The moment when she and her crew drowned and blown up in her ship you knew that they were killed. It was pretty cool but like you said she was kind of wasted, it would've been nice to see more of her.

There are 23 fewer deaths in Jirachi Wish Maker than you listed. The people and pokémon captured by the false groudon didn’t die, it was slowly draining their life over time, but the movie repeatedly cuts to the fake groudon’s innards, showing that those it ate are still alive in there.
Oh boy, none of the anime deaths hit me to hard with the exception of Stoutland and Mallow's mother,

but in the manga, the Hoenn Champion, Steven Stone, passes after he spends 2 weeks to a month controlling the Regi Trio in attempt to quell Groudon and Kyoger. He is my absolute favorite character so his death hurt way more then it should have. In the end Celebi did work its time magic and revived him but ow my heart :(
Mans went out like a legend though, controlling 3 separate legendary pokemon is a feat in and of itself.

You missed a few, Snubbul in the Lugia movie, the old man with the ghastly, Haunter, and Gengar in Pokemon Xy/Xyz, and the death of the Snubbul in Pokemon The Power of us.
Otherwise you did amazing! It's kinda creepy to think one of the more child friendly animes had so many deaths. Revived or not there is still way more deaths in Pokemon than certain animes you'd expect more deaths in. Creepy in a cool way of course. I love your channel and your amazing content! I still can't watch the stoutland episode without breaking down in tears. As sad an episode it is in general what hits tks episode out of the park, for me personally, is that i had to put my dog down a couple months before and the wounds were still fresh as of me first seeing the episode.

Ninetales’ owner leaves and never returns, and we hear that, after a century of waiting, Ninetales comes to the correct conclusion that its owner is no longer alive. I’m not sure that Ash actually died in space, though. I think he was just freezing and Victini warmed him up.
