    It's an interesting concept but the problem I have with the Who Framed Rodger Rabbit-ness of it, is that so much of the identity of that film was built around the love of animation as a medium...meanwhile this film is seemingly trying to pass of cell-shaded CGI as hand-drawn. If this wasn't a meta-commentary I wouldn't care but the jokes about CGI just calls back attention to it, and that it seems to be associating itself with WFRR, a film that pushed hand-drawn animation for the sake of the art, just makes it more uncomfortable. It just feels so shallow.

    • @drdewott9154
      @drdewott9154 Před 2 lety +4

      I'm guessing this is more of a financial limitations than anything else. Disney might have deep pockets but the higher ups allocates the money in them very carefully. They usually only seem to go all out on what they know will be a big blockbuster, their high priority projects like Star Wars, Marvel, Disney Animation, or of course their live action remakes. A movie based on Chip n Dale, especially with this premise likely didn't get as much love from the higherups as the filmmakers working on the project would've hoped. So this might just be their best compromise without hurting the original artistic vision too much.

    When I first read the synopsis I thought oh this sounds awful... but upon watching the trailer I was pleasantly surprised. I dont think it's what we really wanted... or needed... but it still seems fun and being self-referential helps. I mean it's already a kinda silly premise. As long as they respect the source material and don't just treat it as something that needs to be "fixed".
    I feel like alot of meta humor continuations and reboots treat the originals as stupid.

    • @santosic

      I think this is why the DuckTales 2017 reboot is one of the only if not the only perfect reboots. It never treated the source material as silly or useless, in fact it often embraces it, quirks and all (even doing some meta humor about some of those quirks). The show isn't perfect, but not many shows can reach that level. But it's definitely a perfect reboot in my book. I hope the C&D movie is at least on some level the same way.

    But yeah regarding this movie, I was never onboard with a live-action "Rescue Rangers" film from the start. Seeing this trailer was a little intriguing, but I'm not really excited about it. The whole setup feels much more like a fan-made parody trailer than an actual product, especially with how some of the 2D animation doesn't blend well with the live-action setting. I will admit though that I like the various cameos (especially Scrooge, Roger Rabbit, and Skat Kat) and the references to various forms of animation are nice. So I kind of knew to expect a Roger Rabbit -like film
    But my God, WHY did they feel the need to change the voices?

  • @1Soniccool
    @1Soniccool Před 2 lety

    The story is about Chip and Dale not working together after the show ended but there is something going on that there is video piracy like pirate the TV show or any movie that Disney owns without give them money. And they don't have Gadget with them but she is there when they worked on the show but she is missing and Monterrey Jack is addicted to cheese. Chip works a normal job while Dale works at a convention that has everything people reminisced thier childhood and so that is why Dale is in the CG animation because he wanted to be fresh without looking old. So they go on a mystery to find the person who is behind it.

    I had no idea about this movie coming out. I don't like the idea of Adam Sandler voicing one of the characters.

    I don't know how to feel. The humour seems diluted Sausage party, the voices do not work (people hear them ever day in the parks) and it just seems awfully meta. It also doesn't make any sense because Chip and Dale existed for decades before rescue rangers.

    Lemme find out this is unofficially sequel to Roger Rabbit 30 plus years later. 🎤👀. Edited: he literally said what I said, that's the vibes this trailer gave me after rewatching it, I'm hella excited, I always wanted a Roger Rabbit 2. I wonder who plays Gadget, Zendaya has that adorkable vibe down very well, she would be a good choice. I hope this leads to a tv series.

    I'm going to be completely honest. I had no idea this movie was happening. I didn't know of its existence until this video appeared on my feed. When I clicked it, it gave me the trailer to the movie, so I knew exactly what was going on by that point.
    Talking about the actual movie, I feel like Who Framed Roger Rabbit still holds up. I watched it very recently, within the last month, with my wife who was watching it for the first time and we both loved it. If this movie follows similar logic I think it should be good and age well. I like that they are making fun of different animation styles so even if they do create better later, this is something to look back on as what it took to get to that point. I am very curious to see how this goes though it won't really be Chip and Dale solving mysteries in a movie unless this really goes in the WFRR direction of Toons needing to solve a real life mystery, which would be cool but this is also Disney + so we can't expect them to solve a murder or something.

Are Hollywood types projecting their own middle-age trauma on friggin' KIDS' CARtOONS and why'd anyone be interested in that? Make some artsy film called "Once upon a time on Hollywood" or something.

    Whhaaat? Disney actually giving fans who are born in the 80s and 90s something they want? None of that "oh it is not meant for you" crap saying it is only for the kids. But still blames us some how that their movies or shows bombed because of us ruining it for not buying their tickets or seeing it on stream while buying their merch? *sarcastic truth tone* I don't know how I feel about this movie, but hearing that the people making this movie for the fans that grew up with the show is shocking.

    To be honest this feels like two producers went out golfing, WB producer said to a Disney one, where almost finished putting out space jam 2 and going to have everything in it all of our properties. The executive walked into a room and says what do we have that we can use to do this. Just as the animation staff walked in and said amusement park! God is a still better than the AI universe where the plot is super flimsy and doesn't have any understanding! They had to go visit the DC universe twice with two different methods! South Park was right, we are in the darkest timeline! (There's a 50% chance this movie might be good)

  • @Raedein

    Getting sick of people praising this with the constant, “Roger Rabbit nonsense.” Roger Rabbit may have had characters from different franchises making cameos as part of a subplot for self aware toons, but it primarily had it’s own ORIGINAL CHARACTERS (I.e Roger, Jessica, talking baby, weasels, taxi car) to drive THE REAL STORY of that movie . Instead, this film just RANDOMLY choose an existing franchise (Chip’N Dale: Rescue Rangers) for this story, makes no sense to me.
    The first time anyone ever heard of the movie title of “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” back in the day, no one knew what to expect from story. In the case of the movie title “CHIP ‘N DALE: RESCUE RANGERS,”however, in my most completely certain opinion, we definitely should not have gotten to this kind of story AT ALL. So no, this movie will probably be trash
    There is an already established series made by Disney that deals with cartoon-self-awareness called “Bonkers,” so I don’t know why the hell they RANDOMLY decided to tell this story with Chip ‘N Dale

    • @theyakkoman
      @theyakkoman Před 2 lety +1

      Probably because people have mostly fond memories of Rescue Rangers (7.6 on IMDb), while Bonkers, that I'm sure still had its fans, is remembered less fondly, or not remembered at all (6.7 on IMDb). Also, the Rescue Rangers video game is considered a classic and an NES-gem, while I didn't even know Bonkers had a video game (for the SNES) until a couple of years ago.
      So in short, CnD: RR is a stronger brand with more goodwill and name-recognition than Bonkers, so from a financial stand-point it makes more sense to make a Rescue Rangers film than a Bonkers one.

    I'm not a fan. Meta-Rescue Rangers is not Rescue Rangers. Mystery actors "solving mysteries for real" is a gimmick, and it's fine. The big problem is that it's Galaxy Quest, not Star Trek; but people like Star Trek.
