MC always off doing side missions while all his friends get dropped by the strongest guy in the verse at the time that only THE MC can beat.
At times I think they legit be selling their friends on purpose for a rage power up

I'm calling it now: Benny will come back by the final season, and that's when his true strength will be revealed, as the final boss.
