The WAGHI HELLCATS of Mount Hagen-1970s-"COMING SOON"

The WAGHI HELLCATS, PNG's legendary ROCK group of Mt Hagen, was simply way ahead of its time.Formed in 1973 at 5000 feet above mean sea level, high up in the beautiful cool misty Highlands region of Papua New Guinea, the group began performing way before commercial recording studios were established in Papua New Guinea. Led by an 18 year old rock guitarist and vocalist by the name of Pat Siwi, the band became an instant household name after they recorded and released their rock album with NBC in the 70s.
If there is a PNG Rock group out there that deserves to be in the PNG Music Hall of Fame apart from the Painim Wok band, and its lead singer/guitarist deserves a Knighthood, it is the legendary WAGHI HELLCATS.....To give you an idea on how big they were, and still are; after decades of being
away from the spot light, the group got back together and did a one-off show in 2012 at Crown Plaza in Port Moresby.
The tickets were sold for K500.00 per person. Yes you read that right, K500.00 per person which was equivalent to 250 Australian Dollars (AU$250) back then.The tickets were simply sold out, snapped up by hungry rock fans who had missed the rocking sounds of the mighty WAGHI HELLCATS' guitars, acoustic drums, and metalic vocals of Pat Siwi whose voice melted so many lovers' hearts decades ago especially when he belted out slow sentimental songs.Trupla Man! -BIG RESPECT.
The legendary WAGHI HELLCATS were basically:
PAT SIWI on lead Vocals and Guitars (He's a wicked lead guitarist, too good)
DAVID PERI on Bass Guitar and back up vocals
..and Pat Siwi's cousin SIWI MURUK.
Their album was recorded live at NBC studio in Mount Hagen up the beautiful Highlands Region of PNG..
