- This is the late John Wong's own composition taken from this group's other album titled "APPLE SUN FEVER" John also recorded this song with The Rastamen Vibrations of Rabaul a few years later and in 1983 it was used in the Bougainville movie titled "TUKANA" staring Albert Toro.
APPLE SUN was a 1970s teenage Rabaul group,led by a young John Wong, was one of the few bands that existed before Computerised(digital) studios reached the shores of PNG.
In their era musicians had to be good,had to be able to play instruments manually when recording etc, where as these days,you don't have to be a musician at all, you can just walk into a computerised studio and with the click of a mouse button, magic is created and programmed music is waiting for your voice,a few more clicks and your voice can sound like Elvis Presley or Jamaican ragga rappers instantly.The computerised studios are disney lands where magic takes place unlike in the past where such luxury did not exist..
This group,APPLE SUN, was recorded using a basic recording equipment in Rabaul .Apart from NBC govt studios, Sound Stream studios which later became Pacific Gold Studios in the 80s was actively recording local bands.Sound Stream was the first commercial studio that existed in PNG...other studios existed but were NBC govt owned.
Bands of the past played and recorded a lot of cover songs due to the fact that PNG had a lot of expatriates(colonial era) and playing international songs gave bands an extra advantage. - Hudba
In days when PNG musicians were so much more real and talented...John WONG...RIP....you brought so much joy and pleasure to our airwaves brother.....

I guess that was the beginning of PNG rock.. still sounds alright.. last Saturday in a Cairns bar got pissed, heard the song and sang.. Great song.. heard it from boyhood to manhood, still listening to it..
Thank you so much for uploading!! I have been searching for this particular song, and album for eons! I heard this song as a kid back in the early 80's in Lae, MP. After all this years and memories flooding back, trying to recall songs I've heard in the kiddo days and this was one of them that puzzled me as I thought it was a song composed by a foreign band or group! Can't believe its our own Legend Late john Wong and the Apple Sun Band....RIEP....
