Branns hands: Blood and thunder!
Branns voice: peace and tranquility.
Neat.
I consider myself a avid listener of music. I knew of this band, but never bothered. What a mistake I made, this is just crazy good…
I'm jealous, wish I could hear all their albums for the first time again. Maybe hear each one for the 5th time again as it takes about that many listens for it to fully sink in.
Same
Saw them preform this one live the other night, so incredible. Brought a friend who has never seen them and he was impressed. More people need to know the beauty that is Mastodon
Dude right with you on this. Some of the best music I’ve heard in a long while.
Welcome Peter, wait until you see them live. I enjoyed them until I saw them live, now I'm a junkie :) Have a listen to (albums) "Crack the Skye" and "The Hunter". Glad you're on board!
That fucking last riff is the nastiest shit I have heard from mastodon in a long time…idk wtf it is with the synth in the background but it adds such a dark mood to that last bit. Such a massive opener. This album is going to be really up there for me.
yeah the synth sounds so eerie. I love it!
They need to make a song based on that outro riff.
Can you believe how many haters there are? I don't get it, seriously...
@@ivanbolonic6704 yeah, makes no sense to me…easily their best since CtS.
Bill is a riff machine
I’m glad they let that ending riff last for a while
Still not long enough though 🤣🤣
same. because i tend to get disappointed when a powerful riff doesnt go long enough. it keeps gaining more power as it goes. if its a good one, like this
@@buschovski1 because of the keyboards joining it halfway through. Adds another dimension to the riff
Me too.
The riff is pure filth. My head exploded the first time I heard it
Oh, my dear
Look what we've done here
My greatest fear
A pain with an anchor
The taste of defeat
Oh, my dear
Look what we've come to
We've shattered serene
I've turned the grief to medicine
Into my mouth will enter
The hardest pill I've ever had to swallow down
As karma whispers
Oh my dear
The damage is done hеre
I disappear
A love with no anchor
In thе depths of the sea
I've turned the grief to medicine
Into my mouth will enter
The hardest pill I've ever had to swallow down
As karma whispers
Thanks, SG
Not all heroes wear capes. You do the gods work. Thank you.
Thank you 🙏🙏
The guys in Mastodon aren't songwriters, they're sorcerers.
Wizards
Dinosaurcerers
I stg
Musical magicians
This album has some kind of magic on it. The atmosphere created on this album is like nothing i have ever heard in 20 years of listening to metal.
The outro riff is huge. That's a great track.
Bwa V, you re the famous guitarist of buscando la muerte??
@@rogerlapinte9809 Yeah, Bwa from BLM himself 🔥.
I heard you gonna start a new project. I'm looking forward to hearing it. You've always been a great singer 👌
@@bwa_8 Ahahaha 😂
That riff is vintage Bill, most of the album is actually Bill as well because he and Brann wrote most of it together. Anyway dude is a total riff machine, him and Brent are such a good guitar duo.
HUGE. I love that they let it breath. I am physically unable to not crank the volume and headbang for that entire outro. Soul Pummeling.
The most replayed spike is **exactly** where it needs to be. 🤘
I enjoyed the 3 singles, but holy hell this song is on a whole other level. Wow what an opener. If the rest of the album is this good, this may be their best since Crack the Skye
The rest of the album isn't that good.
@@maynord1654 neither is your mom.
Wow you're saying The Hunter, Once More Round The Sun, Emperor of Sand can just be omitted? How do you even measure "Their Best"?
@@three032EPosse crack kills
@@_S._S._ easy, it's Crack the Skye because it's better than all the rest
I have cried listening to Mastodon albums, their melody and songs is what hits me hard. I have never cried like this with any other band other than Gojira.
Your taste in music is impeccable in my humble opinion
gojira fucking sucks
For me, it was the verse at the end of "More Than I could Chew"
@@codyzimmerman981 That song is just amazing. This whole album really, not one dud IMO.
Every Mastodon record gets better. Vocals, riffs, drum fills, melodies, songwriting, epicness.
End of this track stops me in my tracks every damn time. Brings me back to the shows. Them bois playin my soul into oblivion
By the Pagan Gods, that last riff is COLOSSAL!!!
I love your music. Easily one of my favorite bands of all time.
Awesome! I love laughing stock and mastodon! They definitely have a sound all their own.
Weird seeing you here definitely one of my favorite bands
DBZ and Mastodon are like my favorite things bro.
@@DonkeyCroc Thats crazy i was watching fusion reborn while enjoying this album
Hands down
I fucking love this song! The last two minutes are on another level. It's sounds like getting chased by something. For a second, it's intense, but you feel like you have a chance to get away; then at 3:02 panic sets in, and by the end of the solo you are starting to realize you are going to be unable to escape impending doom; at 3:47, you've been caught and have no choice but to turn and start the fight for your life, which lasts longer than you expected but still ends cold and abrupt.
I love the whole album.
But for me, THIS OPENER TRACK is on a different dimension. I simply can't get it out of my head. It's perfect, really.
I honestly wish this track was later in the album. I listen to music either in full albums, or looping the same song a lot. This whole album would probably get spun a lot more for me if this track was later in it, and that does kind of make me sad lol.
Not that it's bad, but you're not kidding, this track is on another level. It may be as good as Mastodon has ever been.
The drummer really makes this band what it is. So good.
All of them. I've never seen such thing before
Love brann he’s such a vital piece. But what’s so good about this band is their tightness with each other and all brings something really unique to the table.
@ElementZero Maybe, yeah. Kind of an old-school Mastodon. But all in all I think all the classics are really outdated by now. Zeppelin was innovative and great at their time but nowadays, every beginner can play and write Zeppelin-style songs. Nobody is able to write Mastodon-style songs though.
@ElementZero Today's bands are much more complex than the old ones. Just as future bands will be much more complex than current ones. Van Halen's tapping and Jimmy Hendrix crazy guitar sounds also were innovative and complex back then. Today, they are part of the absolute basics.
@Life Hoes On I'd argue that The Czar or Last Baron could be Mastodon's Stairway to Heaven. Similar to Tool and Lateralus. Basically a band's magnum opus, though Mastodon and Tool are luckily still banging out badass albums.
Hands down the best song on the new album.
Masterpiece.
Just after savage lands the gem of the album
Damn that ending riff rips hard. And Bran's double bass under it just makes it that much more massive. Face-melting stuff
Troys vocal line " the hardest pill.." is off the charts
I love the way Mastodon makes their music. Its like a playlist for the end of the world. Musicians on a sinking ship who refuse to evacuate. Perfect sounds to die to.
I have an Depression and fight against it every day. Your music helps me Mastodon. See you at your next Show in Frankfurt
This is probably my favorite of all the heavier songs in the album. That outro riff is so sick.
I had goosebumps from start to finish. What a heavy, brooding track. This band is unstoppable.
This stuff is mind blowing.
This is such a good opener. There's so many eerie guitar riffs and pounding drum fills working together to create this massive sound.
The riffs in the beginning made me think of Interestellar soundtrack. I REALLY loved it! Thank you Mastodon, for another great track/album! You've been my favourite rock band for years now, and I never get disappointed.
Funny I thought the same thing
It has that Interstellar sorrow for sure!
Good call. Another great metal song with Interstellar tune and emotion is the outro on Grind from Gojira, on their latest release Fortitude. Fkn bliss if you’re fans of both the band and the movie!
You guys have made the masterpiece that sits side by side with The Last Baron. Thank You.
Found this band live, holy sh*t I wasn’t prepared for what I was about to hear
Their opening tracks to all their albums always slap lol
Yes and yes, its insane how they always came with an inspired and heavy intro song. This is high level.
Now I'm lost in oblivioooooooooooooon
@@fettfan91 Might be my favorite Mastoalbum
@@dancardoso_s Wolf is Loose, Sultan’s Curse.
Tread Lightly is criminally underrated
Taking in consideration that Hushed And Grim is about grief, the last riff sounds like a opening of a portal to one of the most dark and terrible moments possible in the life of anyone
Finishing the audition of the album with this pearl. The full album had born already a classic. All tracks are massive atmospheric, dense and heavy.
S2
Dude 3:48 onwards is Leviathan level heaviness
Fkn dayum 🤘
It was about time they actually made some metal again 😄
@@gringochucha how was emperor of sand not metal haha.
@@jakehyrule7260 Meh.
@@gringochucha meh, I loved it. Think all of their material is great.
This album is their best work so far
This album is so good I bought it twice - digital and physical CD. It is so damn good, it just melts me from the inside out 😍
Mastodon has gone n done it again..greatest band this side of the milky way galaxy🤘😝🤘
At least in this part of the multiverse 😆
Meshuggah?
Thanks for finally giving Troy some of that frequency range. Gojira finally realized they had a bass player too. Awesome!
Wow....just wow....im speechless. Crushing my soul.
Great riff to start an album with
Holy shit, man! Impressive. Duuuuuude! The guy who mixed/edited it in the studio- superbly done!
Absolutely love the new album guys. It's the only CD I've played in my car for the past few weeks, it is so good.
No words to amount how incredible these guys are.
1:37 beautiful sections
I agree bro. I love that section so much
Best track on the album imho
facts
True!
SHES ARRIVED!!!!
listened to this whole record today. fantastic. one of the best records i’ve heard for the first time this year, and i’ve listened to a lot this year.
Brann Dailor is too fantastic to be true.
This song does things to my soul.. hands down one of the most emotional songs next to Teardrinker. This entire album is Stellar 🔥
Had been hearing really good things about this album, so I waited to listen to it until I was on mushroom mountain. Best decision I'll make all year, by far.
I introduced a friend to Mastodon at that moment as well, first time he ever heard anything they wrote was this song, almost to the peak, now he's a fan for life. Cover to cover Masterpiece album
What a fucking opener.
New Mastodon, and upcoming new Brent Hinds & Mike Pike Album, great amazing timing. Hail thee Eternal Heavy 🔥
... this album is the best mastodon work, and the best heavy metal album in 2021!
it's been said before but it bears repeating - no one mastodons like mastodon mastodons
like fine wine this album is fucking amazing
Even though I’m absolutely loving this album for some reason I can’t wait to see melon give it a 3/10
It’s the melon, I’m surprised people still take his reviews seriously especially when it comes to metal since he always scores them poorly.
Or metal elitists giving it that score since it's not Leviathan 2 lol
@@jbasti227 nah you just need to listen to other types of metal to get a perspective of what Fantano likes.
@@jbasti227 not always, but he’s got a pretty particular taste with metal. He fucking HATES deftones, I know that much, haven’t watched him in years. I can’t see him liking this album, but I love it man.
If he does, I wouldn't trust any of his other reviews.
Love the vibe of the music. The different vocals is phenomenal!
Undeniably fantastic song. Now for the rest of the album I have yet to hear. Oh, my dear.......
I’m tipping album of the year.
Oh my Dear, look what they did here.
Created excellent music. It's on repeat.
I love the last riff
Big said Brent doesn't sing that much on this album I love his vocals when all 3 of them sing in one song is them at there best
i completely agree. brann and troy are awesome of course, but with this being their longest album, it does get a little tiring. peace and tranquility and the beast are great though especially. teardrinker too
Yeah so colourful
It has such an ambient sound. I LOVE IT
At 3:46 things get real
At 4:09 things get unreal
Well said, exactly what I thought.
Just keeps getting better. Awesome
Ohhh the ghost notes on the snare 😍. Outstanding gents, thanks for posting
Badasssss
Thanks MASTODON....., i needed this...., truely a masterpiece 🤟🤟🙏🙏
Apparently i listened to the album backwards, I'm okay with this cause when this one kicks in, AHH FUCK!. After listening to all the tracks, I'd say it's got it's own vibe, but a little bit of all their stuff sprinkled in, a lot of crack the skye, which is good, I fucking love that album.
This album is awesome from start to finish!
amazing band, amazing album, can't say enough really!
Every day this album continues to expand my mind 🧠
EPIC shit from a great band.
Sonic textures
Very melodically-strong. Great stuff, boys.
this was the unparalleled best song on first listen holyyyyy
Needed this!!!
What an immense start 💪
Great stuff! Never disappointed by this band

Dude this amazing
Beautiful song!
❤🖤❤🖤❤🖤 Love all of that misterious track. Insane!
It's here!!
This is my new favourite. Absolutely fucking amazing
On one hand you have howtobasic style cooking videos and on the other hand this. How can you not love Mastodon?
This song is massive
Great Band Great Songs Love it Greez from Düsseldorf Germany
Dude! The end of that song was massive!!!!!!
One of the best songs that i've listened in 2021
I know everyone is commenting about it but... that ending riff brought me back to freshman year of high school listening to Remission for the first time and realizing how much ass this band kicks. Seriously it tapped a level of nostalgia I didnt even know I had and that alone puts this album above Emperor of Sand for me (that album just didnt do anything for me emotionally, despite the subject matter).
It seems like the pandemic and quarantine has refueled and reinspired so many of my favorite musical acts as evidenced by their recent output, and Mastodon is no exception.
At first the 90 minute runtime scared me a bit, I was afraid this album would be a bloated mess honestly, but theres only a couple of tracks that didnt blow me away on first listen. I know this will be on replay for a while!
Muito bom. Grande Mastodon!
Harmoniously Brutal 🤘
Oh my lord, what a rock poetry!!
My fav song from ths album❤❤❤
Opeth+Mastodon touring together is insane to me! Cant wait.
awesome !
If the Interstellar Theme were prog-metal... this is it. SO GOOD.
