This is one of the best Mastodon songs in the last decade. Troy's vocal melody on the verses is so unique and I love it so much. Hands down my favorite track on Hushed and Grim.
Troy's voice is just so POWERFUL, even when he's not screaming. His lungs are the bellows of our inner primitive beings. I underestimated Troy years ago when I started following the band. He's an absolute legend IMO.
3 minute mark is pure the czar vibes
And Bronn's drumming, specially on that last bridge is otherworldly

This is literally like if they took the first half of their discography (the golden age) and their second half ( just the other golden age) and combined the two but then added some kind of new flavoring and it’s truly blowing my mind. I fucking love this.

The new flavor is somber. It's like a reflection on what's depressing but realizing that's also something that makes life worth living.

The Hunter is my least favorite but it's still a great album.
Early stuff is weird to listen to just because the lack of Brann on vocals, but they kick ass in other ways
Everything after Blood Mountain is sellout pussy bs. This band is basically modern Metallica
I love it when Brent screams, it always makes me think of when he sang in the intro to the Aqua Teen Huner Force movie as the gumdrop guy

All jokes aside, this is an amazing song! I especially love the guitar riff in the chorus. I’ve been a fan of this band since I was 4; used to listen to The Hunter!

I teared up at 2:37 when I heard this song for the first time at their show last night. Such powerful, moving music.
The riffs at the end of more than I could chew definitely had tears flowing.. it was like my entire lifes struggles were heard thru them guitars.
I'm always full of so much emotion when I listen to Mastadon. This song hits the spot.

I love the band's diversity, no-one else combines influences from past decades this well but the best thing about Mastodon is you can't decide who the best vocalist is, yet the guys are all so unique. Sheer God-level brilliance but with class

So recently my old childhood friend passed away, this song was stuck in my head the whole day when I heard the news, eventually when I read the lyrics it made sense why this song tied me to him. He fades away to a memory but will never be forgotten
He's only faded from your perspective as a physical bodies being. Dud Crack the skye teach you nothing? He moved on to another dimension capable of moving the speed of light. Traveling from universe to universe. Unless your understanding of the other planes beyond our understanding, you'll think he's just gone. But that's just your perspective. Change your perspective and you'll miss your physical connection to him, but you'll realise it's so much more than that

I am an older metalhead, and these guys just have an expansive "evolved" 80's metal sound that BLOWS away contemporaries...they SLAM!
Brent Hinds was taught banjo for a long time before he was allowed to get an electric guitar, so banjo playing informs a lot of what he does. Check out Fiend Without A Face (the band), that's him playing mostly instrumental bluegrass as well.

I've listened to most their youtube songs off this album and just blown away.. I will buy and even some merch. Truly a masterpiece. I'm blown away they and production made all this.. crazy good. would sound awesome live too
David Bottrill killed this production. He's unreal. He did Aenima and Lateralus from Tool.
It beats crack the sky. More depressing and has that haunting 90s Seattle grunge vibe on parts. You hear ,little soundgarden and alice in chains sections alot of this album.

My mother died less than 6 months from this release. I went to a mastodon concert to see them live, and it was my first concert in years. I bought a poster, with a heart splurting out in blood the band name. My mother died of heart failure. When she died I felt the pressure of responsibility to bury her, my family is small and I was the only one who could afford it. I took that burden, I felt anger, and I sat alone in the dark and cried, understanding she's gone. This song was a remedy, but in fact this whole album is. I'm thankful to have experienced everything, and this song helps me work through the after effects.

Mastodon Hushed and Grim jest dojrzały i pojawił się na ciężkim etapie mojego życia gdy odeszła odemnie żona zabierając dzieci.Czyli gdy moje życie też jest już bardzo dojrzałe.Dwa wcześniej wspomniane albumy też pomagały w ciężkich chwilach ale gdy miałem 17 lat.Teraz mam 34 i jestem uciszony i ponury.
