"Push through the pain Developing calloused hands To dig, scrape and claw" Man, the way they refer to other songs throughout the album, is a thing of beauty
There is nothing "Mastodon" about this. They have strayed so far from their sound it isn't funny. This is mainstream garbage written with the sole intention of selling albums.
@@officialmetalwill What's "their sound"? Every album has been different and that's why they're such a good band. If you want Remission or Leviathan go back and listen to those albums.

@@notsure1969 I saw Brent while I was on Acid (and shrooms and ketamine) this past Sunday night at Shaky Knees music fest in Atlanta. He was standing right behind me for a couple songs during All Them Witches set. Now the only one I haven't seen up close and personal or talked to is Troy.
With so many bands I have to pick an album or two, perhaps an era in which I enjoyed their music. Mastodon is different. New albums are fresh and simultaneously bear that signature Mastodon vibe. I've never thought that I wish they'd play music like they used to.
Mastodon is one of those bands that, more you listen to them, the better it get... all i heard of hushed and grim was great the first time... its been almost 10 times i have listen to those tracks, now im about to explode! Forget covid, mastodon greatness is the real threat! If i listen one more time one of these awesome songs im probably gonna die you know, trick is... I CAN'T RESIST!!
Troy's favorite song on the album and I can see why. I only wish they played it live instead of Skeleton of Splendor. They were the best I've ever seen them on this tour BTW. Brent was absolutely killing it and having a great time.
I am blown away! I appreciate this album and the timing of it's release. It hits just right on every level. The flow is amazing! Musicly and lyrically is proves to be an epic display of talent and skill. I love it!
This has gotta be my favorite off the new album, but I'll be damned if the entire thing isn't a banger. Solidly in third place for me as far as their albums go
The fact that he doesn't is part of what makes him unique among a sea of generic metal drummers (and also makes this part stand out because it is so rare)
those fucking background scream/growls in some parts. absolutely killer. i wish this album's mixing sounded better on speaker systems, it's a whole different experience in headphones
What a head banger!!! I crank this one up when im driving in my lil town!! Rasing my Windows down so everyone can hear the new mastodon!!! Mastodon rulzzzz!!!!!!
I came to listen to this while drinking a Savage Lands IPA from Thin Man Brewery brewed in collaboration with Mastadon...."SAVAGE LANDS - NEIPA 7% In collaboration with MASTODON. I agree, i loved EOS but this is one level ahead. Heavy, intense, mindblowing, emotional, i cant categorize this, its fucking Mastodon at his peak of creation since Crack The Skye. This is unique. They are ridiculous, i cant imagine one, just one bad album from them.
This album feels SO dense because most songs feel like at least two put together. Loving their decision to go more proggy and psychedelic.
"most songs feel like at least two put together"
Loved that definition!
It's also 86 minutes 😂
prog and psychedelic are my favorite combination when it comes to rock and metal
Its density is equal to its heaviness 🤘😣
"Push through the pain

Progressive grunge is basically what this album is.
Running from an endless source of everlasting light
Stumble into darkness of my own creation
Navigate this maze of self-destruction's inner glow
Worship at the feet of primal gods of chaos
The walls we create
The cracks will begin to show
And watch them start to fall
All is indefinite
How quickly we evaporate
To memories and only dreams
As the seismic shifts
Veering into unknown space
Where monuments will bare your name
Drinking from reflections in the pool of endless doubt
Continue on the path of reckless devastation
In the pit of death and bones and carcasses decayed
It's here I find a guiding hand to true salvation
Push through the pain
Developing calloused hands
To dig, scrape, and claw
Thought and visions stick
The images, how they still burn
Cementing of your legacy
Now it's flooding back
Trigger the unlocking fate
To wash away and letting free
Dredging the weight
Dragging through hollow ground
To break the chain of lies
'Round and 'round, we battle ourselves
Silencing our tongues
Perfect. Thanks, friend
Any idea on what it is that Brent is screeching behind Troy during the verses that Troy is carrying the main vocal track?
This is a colossal fucking banger! and when it goes into that clean interlude, "You're gonna need a bigger boat"
Lmao fuck yeah!
That solo is an Inescapable tidal undertow
This is lame and boring compared to their first few albums. This garbage fits in with anything played on modern day radio.
@@officialmetalwill pff, this album is an amalgamation of all their previous albums turned into a prelude for some serious amygdala fuckery
Nice 'Jaws' reference!! I'm sure Skipper Sanders would approve 😁
They’re cranked to 11, hope Bran doesn’t explode
They always go to 11. True legends.
So I've been sleeping on these guys, holy fuck.... every song I'm hearing so far is awesome.
Brent's background growls and screams really add depth to this track. Incredible.
Every single track on this album is a banger. Every single one. The entire album is an epic, cathartic, masterpiece.
They just can't make a bad album. They're relentless.
I don't think, they even ever tried.

A banger if there ever was one. Brent's fuzz is otherworldly good.

Mastodon USED to be different. Now they sound so mainstream it isn't funny.
Also enjoy Brent's signature banjo style licks while incorporating some more 'exotic' scales than usually used. Ok. I like phrygian dominant stuff.

One of the best, I agree. it's Dark, mysterious, heavy and polished. Amazing
It's an amazing album, maybe the most sonically diverse and compositionally sophisticated thing they've ever done. How does this only have 40k views?

Best use of Brent's harsh vocals yet
By listening to the first 5 seconds hit like automatically
They went the direction they wanted to go and didn't dissapoint at all.

This band always kicks balls...but vocally they grow every album. Very hard to find that, especially so many volumes into the catalogue.

All 3 are incredible vocalists
wish it had lyrics, but a banger.
