I liked the part from 0:00 to 8:34.
"All that I needed from you was your warm embrace. Turns out, that was mine to give." This line hits hard.
Same!
Oof. Yeah that's a tear-jerker for sure. Got me. Love this entire albumn,
It's all hitting me harder now than ever, my father is clinging to life, cancer.
@@adrd208feeling you mate
@@adrd208my condolences brother
This whole album is really fire.
Not one let down
No doubt about it.
Boo. It really isn't. Crack the Skye, Leviathan. There's some heat.
@@lunixcaptain mastodon evolve with each album. if you go into a new album hoping for a previous album, you'll only be disappointed. enjoy Crack the Skye and Leviathan for the masterpieces they are, and embrace the evolution of one of the best metal bands of the 2000s
Damn straight bro
"The fate of man resides in empathy". +1
Mastodon has to be the only metal band that has outright made me shed tears. This album is just so emotionally crushing and beautifully cathartic.
No other band ever meant something personal to me. This band gives me affirmative mantras for lyrics.
Opeth gets me a lot. The last two tracks on Pale Communion get me sad
Agreed!!!❤❤❤❤
@@spund209between Opeth, Mastodon and Enslaved, those bands cover the spectrum of emotions regularly.
This album is immense, top to bottom, front to back a balls to the wall, heart in mouth, lump in the throat journey from start to finish!
Put it on, commit 86 minutes go on a voyage of discovery akin to conquering Everest. immerse every essence of your being in every single moments surprise, joy and adversity.
this album sits right up there with the greatest rock albums of all time.
It's that' good!
The second half of this track is so kick ass. I love when they get groovy. Reminds me of the second half of north side star but more polished. this album is a rare 10/10 for me. Fuck
On point with that comment!
Me too. I'm like holy shit! Amazing.
Fuck yeah man!! Right there with ya. Been turning my coworkers and friends onto it all week. I still can't get enough....or connect all the song titles to each other 😆
@@TheDarkside282 yeah dude its definitely a ride

That drumbeat on the solo section is fucking incredible
New go-to Dark Souls grinding music.
I just rage quit Dark Souls 3 NG+3 minutes ago lol
They are pulling out some Neurosis vibes with this one. I love it
Big time. Would've been the perfect track for Scott Kelly to sing on.
Neurosis. I never would've heard them without Mastodon. Thank you Mastodon!!!
Speaking of. Did Scott make an appearance on this album?
@@bakerinthehouse5346 sadly not
@@shaunrevell5594 I think read somewhere that they wanted Scott on this track but scheduling conflicts didn't allow it or something. It would've been perfect.
This album is starting to have that 'land mark, classic album' feel.
I agree
no doubt about it.
Heavyweight of an album .....
Nothing about this album feels out of place. It's heavy, dark, and hauntingly beautiful.
@@notsure1969 very appropriate considering the circumstances. And I agree, haunting and beautiful. And sad too. At least for me.
[Lyrics]
Long and frayed
Static surrounds us
Break the free fall
Safely land
When man can climb to see
His rejection
Spirit'll burn
Evaporate
I left you in the wind
To pull the scraps together
I'm the one who sinned
There's more for me to weather
Complications
Of loss and gain
The grace he gave
Is filling the void
How to proceed
With new direction
As photographs
Melt away
I left you in the wind
To pull the scraps together
I'm the one who sinned
There's more for me to weather
Waiting
For the sun to rise
So I can
Say my last goodbyes
All that I needed from you was your warm embrace
Turns out
That was mine to give
Fools play into broken plans
Tuned straight from servant's hand
Reaping ill-gotten gains
Bleeding this love away
Coming
Home to rescue me
The fate of man resides in empathy
It seems my foundation is shaking and giving way
Look for my hand reaching up from this rubble and clay
It's too late
My heart's away
It's too late
Reborn again
I left you in the wind
To pull the scraps together
I'm the one who sinned
There's more for me to weather
Thank you
Thank you very much for posting these
@@michaeljones7372 You're welcome, friend
Seems like it's about guilt and abandonment. Wish I couldn't relate.
@@pvrhye Right there with you.
Dude this is fucking awesome!! Tired of hearing people say, "sound like everything else Mastodon releases"... Yeah dumb dumb... It's because it's Mastodon?? Does everything Metallica, Tool, or Korn or any other significantly different band sound like anything else other than themselves?? Ever?? 🤘 Keep em coming!!!
well said bro
Agreed. This is badass
Word
Agree, well put.
To be fair, once Korn started with dubstep, they literally sounded like anything else.
"Waiting
for the Sun to Rise
So I can
say my last goodbye
All that I needed from you was a warm embrace
Turns out
that was mine to give"
Truly Untouchable.
Perfect tune driving in the winter darkness
Not a single song that isnt considered a masterpiece off of this album. Genius
Peace and tranquility sucks. Other than that it’s great
@@illustrate303 It's actually one of my favs out of the album lol
@@illustrate303 Peace and Tranquility fucking slaps.
@@emigrant1510 I just hate the chorus so much. The way it’s sang and just so not Mastodon to me. Other than that the song is awesome. I know I’m no judge on what they are supposed to sound like it’s their band not mine, but I love them and it’s just so down the middle and tryin to be on radio sounding
@@marcoesposito8753 that’s great! I just can’t get past the chorus in it, other than that I like the song.
This song is an incredible journey.
If they did a 6 ep and this was on it. I would be just fine.
@@portal432 agreed!
It absolutely is. The entire album is just so vast.
@@notsure1969 I agree. A continuous discovery of sounds with each listening.
4:00 This part is so simple, yet hypnotic and majestic at the same time.
Mastodon has such a knack for these types of riffs. It's like... riffs that should've been written already and got lost in time. But this band is here to make sure no riff get left behind. Then they couple it with absolute crushing cutting edge stuff and yep, elite.
Reminds me of Wasted Years from Iron Maiden, just played slower.
My fav part of the album !
Tool vibes.
@@onetrickpony2 Yep...Schism, right?
If you don't love this album then you're mad, MAD I SAY! 🤘
Positively.
This shit slaps, like being lost in a void, but you're fine with that.
I get lost in voids all the time. It's the best.
This album is on a whole different level, absolutely the best thing to come out in many years
Troy's bass part on the second half is just superb. And Brent's solo.....amazing, as usual. Fantastic new Masto.
That ascending line is badass. Didnt notice till i read this comment
I LOVE that the mixing sounds more polished, but still raw and authentic. great tune.
Very true and so hard to achieve production is perfection!
That second half holy shiiiiii. 😳 that riff is so funky. Wish Brent would've sang on this track.
I totally agree. Should've been Brent instead of Brann. Edit: Or at least harmonize. Still...a very righteous track.
@@stirl Nah not the only. There’s a few other places Brent could’ve sang in this album
Agreed, and as someone else commented, it has a north side star vibe, which is a brent vocal heavy song. I actually think some of troys parts, especially in first half could've been Brent. Ah well, they all sound good
Love the tiny ISIS guitar effect when it begins
This entire fucking album is an instant classic. This band is unreal.
This whole album is an emotional and intellectual odyssey from start to finish. This is instant classic right here. Like Led Zeppelin 3 of the modern day.
Except Blood Mountain was like their Zeppelin 3 already, this is more like their Physical Graffiti
Definitely. Each and every track is its own piece of art. What an album. Really should go down as a classic.
4:00 feels like the middle section of Schism by Tool
Was looking to see if I was the only one who heard that lol
Like it’s not quite it but definitely called it to mind
totally hear it!!
Mastodon always has the coolest names for their songs and artwork too. Thank you guys for all the awesome things you do for us fans!!
This song is assembled very well, love the parts put together as a whole, kindof a Lennon-McCartney thing going on. Another masterful album, thank you to Mastodon and the engineers/producers careful attention to beautiful sound quality- not so much on CZcams but when listened to properly sounds fantastic once again.
Im freaking out when 3:59 starts, are you guys kidding me? This is pure gold.
Any other band would split these parts into 5 different songs.
Mastodon puts them all in one and does it all the time. F'n amazing.
@@KrashmanVonStinkputn yes my friend you put it right. Still they can surprise us with this fusion of styles in one song that fits perfectly. Its just ridiculous lol i love their creative process and the final shit they give us, its high levels always.
Gobbling Dregs while listening to Gobblers of Dregs in the EDZ.😮💨 Atmospheric voyage indeed.
I’m gobbling my dregs in the Russian cosmodrome 🤘🏻
This whole album is the shit. When they hit the second half of this song I feel like im getting ready to start some kind of funky boss battle.
some kind? only ENDBOSS!!
This makes me think of looking out of a plane window. Seeing the landmass moving so seemingly slowly from 30,000' plus beneath me. Probably influenced by the fact that the first time I heard this song, I was on a plane flying over the Rockies. It was really moving, pardon the pun.
Like if that giant-ass crab from Moana was the end-boss in Sonic the Hedgehog
This album is a freaking masterpiece. I am completely blown away . I never knew when they said it would be sorta different and this and that this is what we would get . Awesome job dudes keep it up please lol
Mastodon is like the MMA of metal, stylistically.
Yesss!
"All that I needed from you was your warm embrace. Turns out, that was mine to give" this really rally hit home with me yo...gave me fuckin chills
Now this is what I would consider progressive metal.
What an atmosphere!
Main riff reminds me of Trainwreck for sure. Good song
Still think I like Crack the Skye better, but this album is becoming a close second, well done guys!
Dude hands down gobblers of dregs is an absolute fuckin sick ass song yo I swear to God it's amazing
Music to take you to another dimension. So good it makes me wanna cry
4:14 Troy channels Peter Steele on the bass. Incredible
words do not describe what you have done with this album.
This... This is the one. Amazing. I feel like Mastodon has reached a new level. They have transcended to something else, something more.
Litterlly may be the best song they have ever done.
I agree
This has got to be one of the most affecting guitar riffs I’ve ever heard.
Beautiful! I love all the songs I've heard on this album, so far. So atmospheric and dreamy. This song is amazing. 💛💛💛
This one seems like it could be a Once More Around the Sun bonus track.

Never heard a band with so many great albums and 15 songs! Such a good album.
This song is my most favourite of all songs from this epic album. Masterpiece, simply!

They have matured like a good cheddar.
Also shout out to Brann Dailor for being one of the best drummers alive today
Mastodon meets the Mars Volta!
Best song on the album for me.
A great band made the best rock/alternative/metal album of all time.
I am blessed to live in times when such things as this have been given
Holy shit. This is my favorite mastodon track since Crack the Skye.
I love a lot of their stuff since crack the skye, but this was love at first sight on this album. Fucking awesome, this is what they can do.

Fun fact: Troy loves Killing Joke
Man all mastodon albums are a work of art. A masterpiece I'd say.
BRILLIANT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had to listen to this song like six times to finally hear it all. Awesome work Mastodon
MASTODON is a band that to me never had a let down album, just a brilliant piece of artistic music
Make no mistake, this is medicine.
The tempo of this song really adds weight. Especially when that chorus comes in. So good.
Extraordinary opening first minute.I closed my eyes and went went "mmmmmm" when it kicked in.Then it got good..The best newbie so far.
This the music of the gods
Magnificent. Mastodon are unrivalled. I can't get enough of this album. The first part of the song, up to 4:00, reminds me of Killing Joke. Keep on producing such flawless material, boys!!!
Best song on the album imo... 🔥🔥🔥
One of the best outros to a song ever.
THIS ONE IS SO GOOOOOOOOOOOOD
I do as the CZcams algorithm commands
Strong Genesis vibe in the middle part of the song. Love it.
Schism as well)))

One of my absolute favorites off the album! i cant be the only one who gets a 80s vice feel starting at about 4 minutes in? :D
Loving this! Somehow I'm imagining this working really well with imagery from the most recent Dune movie
I just read a negative review of this album, and I would totally agree with the critic if it weren't for the fact that he is completely wrong. This album is an absolute masterpiece.
Absolute gold! 🖤🤘🏻

The more albums they release, the better they get. This is really good stuff.
I adored the 3 songs they released on their own ahead of the album. And was jamming driving to the whole album all day while driving the work van. Everyone in the comments has already echoed my sentiments. But my God. By this song and its change up into a groovy part.. Fuck. This might be one of their best albums EVER.
Man these guys keep getting better every year
This song sludgy and proggy with great guitar solo feel. Well done Masto!
wow man, branns voice on this album is really something
the way it goes from the solo into the chorus is perfect
