      Who cares? I mean, education is good but I don't care how hungry they are. It's still time to murder a den of wasps and hopefully get some of their larva with a slow poison that makes them twitch for many minutes. Anyone who's ever been stung real good is with me and we have no remorse and no pity. They need to die. But bees are cool. They're super chill. They all just want to work hard and pollinate flowers like fuzzy little workmen. And even if they do sting you, so what? It doesn't hurt. And you know they felt genuinely threatened because they'll most likely die. Totally different.

We found that taking a garden hose and spraying things down with water every few minutes would get them to leave long enough for us to get a few bundles off the vines. The wasps were smart enough to know that getting mad at water is pointless, but not smart enough to realize that the presence of water and the presence of humans were connected.

Mathematicians would have your sentence on some blackboard with equations scribbled all over. Two factions would square off against each other. "He's saying he likes that people got the joke." "No he's saying he doesn't like that people didn't get it."
      10,000 years later. "And that is why our society has been at war for the last 10,000 years. We've squandered all the resources of the earth. We must put this behind us and forget that sentence ever existed. But first, we must destroy our sworn enemy. The one's who do not believe he didn't like that people got the joke."

    Our neighborhood wasps aren't aggressive. We have super-sweet grapes growing on the side of our house, and they happily devour those every fall. We only pick the ones we can reach, while the majority is cleaned up by wasps, bees and birds. Luckily, there aren't any huge wasp nests nearby, so those grapes can feed them all and they are quite calm. By the time grapes run out, it's too cold for them to fly around stinging people.

    If you make Ryan wasp mad, an entire army of them can come for you… and that terrifies me

    My grandpa's farm in Spain has been invaded by wasps. There's around 10 nests 2 of which were abandoned. The interesting thing is that the wasps have gotten used to people and don't attack anyone as long as you don't start screaming or making noise. Me and my grandparents walked literally centimeters from their nests in some cases and never got stung. One of their friends however started screaming at the site of one DVD immediately got stung. There's even a nest on a door and as long as we open the door carefully they don't care.

    • @carlotta4th
      @carlotta4th Před rokem +5

      They don't "get used to" people that's always been normal for wasps and they only attack if something hurts them/their hive (or you're nearby when something else does).
      Now the africanized versions that's not the case at all. Those buggers are aggressive as heck and will attack anything near them.

    This is honestly one of the best pieces of wasp oriented media I have seen!!!! I always like to teach people about wasps so it is really cool seeing someone else spreading something other than hate for them. Fun fact- wasps are also pollinators! And the majority cannot sting. Great content! Always love it!

      1. They're honestly kind of terrible at pollinating because they aren't fuzzy.
      2. Majority may not be able to sting, but wasps are like two of the three extremely ow level stings.

      @@kh6853 I've actually delved into the scientific literature on this. There aren't many studies because most people take wasps for granted, but of the studies that exist, they're actually better pollinators than honey bees. There's even a study that showed that at least in a greenhouse setting paper wasps were better pollinators than bumbles because they move between plants instead of focusing on a single plant. Of the studies that exist they have a very good track record as pollinators.

      @@kh6853 as for stings, I mean sure they have a bad sting. But they also don't sting for no reason, despite popular myth- they might have a hidden nest, or they might remember your face from when you previously wronged them (they can do this), but it's never for no reason.
      The tarantula hawk, the most painful wasp sting not counting ants, will refuse to sting unless practically forced to.
