- This was a service call on a walk in freezer that was not running at all, I found that the manual reset high pressure control was tripped and when i reset it I found it to be faulty and tripping to early. I replaced the control with a new dual pressure control that had an auto reset feature and all was well again.

I love how you explain the sequence of operation in the beginning 👍
“It doesn’t seems that hot, it’s only 112”
- HVAC VIDEOS 2019
112 ain't bad...
You have not seen a 122.
When you can't touch even your insulated tools.
As someone from NC, I can’t relate at all. 90 degrees with 70 percent humidity is bad enough.
I was just gonna say !😄
That should go on the next batch of t-shrits, cant say ive been on a roof in 112f weather but troubleshooting at RTU when its windy and -20F isnt fun and makes me question my career choice. Great video!!
The absolute BEST piece of advice I was given by a J-man was to not think of gauges as pressure gauges but as temperature gauges. Once you can start to put the concept of X pressure= Y temperature, HVAC/R makes a lot more sense! Thanks for great video.
I am 20yo just completed the Hvac/r course I’d thank you for taking the time to teach new rookies like me thank you again God bless you and your family
Thankyou sir . I am first year apprentice and I learned so much from you .
“It’s only 112...” 🤣 the hottest day ever where I live in Alberta Canada 🇨🇦 was 106 Chris... good video. I use those auto-reset dual pressure controls and access Tees all the time, good stuff.
if only my level 3 teacher explained things like you do. We are lucky to have you on youtube
I like it when you ramble. I sometimes learn more on your ramblings. Your a great teacher!
Great videos, your channel has helped me a lot. You do a great job explaining what the issue is the cause, and the repair. Thanks for taking your time for the help.
I enjoy your videos even if I don’t know anything about hvac👍🏽
Thank you for making these videos. I've been watching one or two each night and I learn sooo much every time. Hello from Australia.
Nice one as always , Chris.
Hey could you talk about wet bulb and when and why we should use it , maybe on the live stream ? Honestly I keep hearing about wet bulb but apart from the actual definition, I couldn't find much .
I've no clue what it's used for.
Very much appreciated, mate , cheers !
would like to now more on that topic aswel
Excellent description Chris, as always.
as a novice tech, I love your videos.
I keep trying to cover the sun off the gauges with my hand like that's going to help. Lol. It's like hitting the brakes while you are a passenger. I picked up on the pressure sensors. I think u explained it well. I'm finding it hard to know where at in the system to put the gauges and temperature sensors. Just because I'm trying to watch and learn without being there. I need to be able to look at the system and follow the lines to see what is what. That will just come with time. I have been looking at my home a/c system to learn. The only problem is I don't want to touch it because it is old and I'm afraid I'll break it. The whole system will need updated eventually. Thanks again guy.
Great video, sir. I do mostly residential but I'm still enjoying gathering info on larger systems through your videos. Hopefully I'll be somewhat prepared when I have to mess with one of these thanks to the content you put out. Thanks, and keep up the good work.
Great job Chris. Good intro into refer controls. I’m sure new guys would appreciate that. 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼👍👍👍
Nice video, great idea to state the sequence of operation at the beginning. 👍🏼
Hey bud, just wanna say awesome videos. Im by no means a hvac service guy or want to. That a whole new world for me. I’m just a diesel mechanic here haha. But for some reason I enjoy watching your vids haha. Looks like you take pride in your work that awesome. Keep up the good vids. :)
Temperature Differential. The KEY of everything.
Great and thorough explanation of system design. And as always, another great video.
Nice Video. I like this format. Explaining here and there and a summary at the end. Thanks for taking the time and producing these vids. I know is tough working and filming at the same time but is greatly appreciated.
I leave the high pressure control on auto reset also. Some cooling is better than none. Gives the customer some time to notice a problem and call.
Hopefully, the US will join the rest of the world and convert to metric measurements. 😂. That Fahrenheit thing is just frustrating when it doesn’t need to be lol 0 degrees freeze 100 degrees boil. CELCIUS. Keep doin your thing though mate. You can verbalise and annunciate very well. I subscribed to your channel..Love your work mate.
Screw the metric system. The U.S. is the world leader.
Joseph Jakubec yea sure, smartest thing I’ve heard in ages. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the video. I appreciate the explanation of the sequence of operations!
Great Video Chris
Nice video Chris, your troubleshooting skills are 💯👊
Sorry but I had to say something. Ice cream is meant to he stored at -14 and below. The characteristics in the milk act as a glycol. Just my 2 cents as an ammonia technician working for industrial refrigeration trade. Hope that helps.
In the restaurants they always want it at -10 it might have something to do with the fact that they use it in a short time period and they want it scoopable, if we go below -10 they break their ice cream scoops.
Difference between long term warehouse storage and shorter term restaurant storage. Depending on volume and restaurant menu and # of deliveries per week typical restaurant may only keep a few tubs in their walk in.
We recently lost 30 five gallon tubs when a time clock control fuse blew.
I really really apreciate your videos.
Awesome video.
You should also install a 100mA fuse between the contacts of the pressure control when it's set auto reset, this is so you can see if it had tripped on hp at a quick look.
Excellent explanation. But can you do videos on just the sequence of operation of a freezer or a cooler. Thanks
I was working in Phoenix for a bit; and came across that same problem with the ambient temps getting to 120^ and tripping pressure controls when using 404a. I found it harder to locate a pressure control to 450 psi; not all the suppliers have them.
Those encapsulate pressure controls are junk I agree 100 percent. Next time try setting your low-pressure control with your nitrogen tank
Wouldn’t you typically want the defrost thermostat to open the LLS first after defrost termination in order to pre cool the coil before turning the fan on and blowing hot air into space?
Really enjoy your videos by the way, very helpful.
It may be inconvenient but having the the pressure control fail safe and having nuisance tripping is better than having something go wrong and not tripping on high pressure.
Nice break down. I remember when defrost clocks gave me fits!! It was NASA engineering lol. Now its ABC 123.
At the head pressure setting that high are you worried about blowing internal relief in compressor Copeland recommend 375 cut out on head 30 degree split on confessor seems high for refrigeration sound undersized condenser my option
a very helpful video. Congratulations for your way of explaining. Concerning the ideal températures for evaporators and condensing units, could you give me more lights about. You know, we use many kinds of réfrigérants in air conditioning and refrigeration. I will appreciate that. Thanks.
I love your videos
Thank you great explanation 👍
Fantastic job 👍👍👍
Here in NW Pennsylvania our summer's last about 2-3 months and we rarely break 95. I can't stand pulling hose treating substations when its 90+. Probably because my company refuses to repair the AC in my work truck LOL
Nice job body👏👏👏
I think that the same temp the grocery stores keep theres as well -10. The only difference is the size our freezer is huge
Love your great HVAC videos. One suggestion.....
eliminate your over use of "OK".
I need to work with a guy like you lol
It doesn't even seem that hot, it's only 112F..... WOW! You must really be used to working in the heat because most of us would melt in those conditions. LOL
Very nice job and video.
I want that book on your desk! Thinking about getting the e- version
Do it
Good job
i can see those condensers are oversized.. i live in Toronto our summer weather is far away from yours but we always oversize the condensers .. when its on the roof.. but your condensers are oversized but still not enough ... its shocking
Hello I would like to say thank you first of all for the good teaching and explanations. A second thing I'm having trouble with might be to help me. I would greatly appreciate it. I have a commercial refrigeration business in Israel and the inbox unit in Israel most of them for some reason the internal cooling units do not come with a suction connection
And I'm having problem checking out Super Heat. Is there another way to check if the valve is functioning properly?
If the lines between the condenser and evaporator are not too long you can use the suction pressure port at the compressor and just take the suction line temperature at the evaporator and calculate your superheat that way.
Thanks Appreciate it Have a nice quiet weekend
thanks chris appreciate ---
good job like always thanks for post
Great video, man
Nice job and video
can I get more detail about how a wet coil, clear sight glass, and a head master means good for winter charge?
I'll mention again, I use nitrogen and set the pressure control, the number scales aren't accurate before installing it. Access caps- I hate the rubber o ring style, I use the flare type.
Could u do a rough schematic on how u wired the new set of. Dual pressure controls.
Thanks for the extra video
Nice video
I was taught ice cream at -20 with -10 being the minimum. Apparently ice crystals can form in the ice cream otherwise. It sure does such working in that temperature though. Agree wholeheartedly about those funny not adjustable pressure controls. Those things are totally garbage. Not that the Penn Johnson's are all that much better.
When I first heard him say -10 for a freezer on this channel I thought it was a bit warm, then I realised he was working in Fahrenheit
Why does it have 2 accumulators. Blue and black accumulators
Where does the filter goes for this?
👍. What’s your opinion on these switches leak wise? I got a lot of them started to leak at the diaphragm base, never got across leaking Danfoses going bad that way.
That switch inside the cooler needs to be in a weatherproof box with a waterproof cover
Auto reset 400deg would be better on the comp .and electronics than anything higher
After the EXPLANATION at the beginning Chris my question is even though the unit went off on high pressure shouldn't the evap fan still me running Because its being powered by the # 4 terminal and not the contactor?
I think they were not running because the staff shut off the switch in the walk in
refrigeration should use Johnson duel pressure control Johnson all the way
In your area, do you have high humidity with that heat or is it more of a dry heat ?
Dry heat if the humidty gets above 50% we lose our minds. On average we run 10-25% relative humidity
Have you ever come across any units made by Reznor?& just as a side note the Reznor Co. was started by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails' Grandfather,he sold the Co.in the 70's so there ya have it!😁
Hey mate, if you come across a machine and let’s say hypothetically there was no information even on the valve about what refrigerant is in the system, what method would you use to figure it out?
Look at some clues; check the TXV head, check compressor refrigerant type, oil type that the compressor uses is another clue. If you can't find it: gotta take it all out, vacuum and put in new.
Is it normal for the pressure switch to be on the hot gas line on refer ? Just curious.
Often have switches on both high and low pressure sides.
What is different a walk-in freezer condensing unit and walk in cooler condensing unit... good day sir..
Arshad Khan I’m guessing a freezer unit runs hotter therefore sucks more heat from the cooling medium. I could be wrong though.
Refrigerator typically uses air defrost, the evaporator fans run constantly.
Freezer needs an additional source of heat to defrost, either electric elements or hot gas. Freezer evaporator fans are cycled off during defrost and will not turn back on until compressor is restarted and the evaporator is cold again.
Higher compression ration in compressor and a elect defrost
How do you determine which pressure control is working incorrectly?
Could high pressure become dangerous if it blows up.
Why didn’t you test the max pressure cut out like you did with the old high pressure sensor?
112 is fever day
👍
Shouldn’t the high pressure switch be after the condenser and not right at the discharge of the compressor
No.. The psi is the same.. Temperature is not.. You only have 2 pressures on a system like that, High and low..
Could be a bad capacitor
walkin not running, lol
How’s the wrist sir?
Its fine I got xrays and all is well just sore, im actually not wearing the brace anymore this video was from a few weeks back
HVACR VIDEOS good to hear sir. Our hands are our money makers
#85 Thumbs up!
The walk in isn't running because it's walking
Ha ha ha "It's only 112", yikes.
400👍🇫🇷🇧🇷
