- This week was a productive one. After making the propane connections for the stove, I finally completed the kitchen of the small barn. This restoration is becoming more and more exciting every day.

I love seeing the progress!
Thank you for the support, Lucas! 🙏
Bravo! A full array of amenities in your kitchen 😊 May I suggest - go the frugal route and build a patio rather than a deck. Why spend a bundle of money on deck wood when you can build a beautiful stone patio for the price of a few bags of cement? Build a nice cabinet out of stone and set a barbeque on top with your gas bottle beneath - or just move the gas bottle around the corner. No worries 😉 Word of advice - you don't want to use that gas stove top for winter heating. Too dangerous. A soon to be priority is a nice small used wood stove. Cool weather is coming!
A stone patio is not a bad idea! It would mean that I would have to dig out quite a bit of dirt in order to get a flat enough surface for it, so I’m not sure if it would be worth it.
I’m definitely thinking about the possibility of adding a wood burning stove to the barn! I’m just not sure where… we’ll see!
@@goncalovalle As you face the red tile wall with the window; I imagined the digging for a stone patio would be on the right hand side. That dirt would then be used to fill in the left hand side. As to the doorway, I imagined that would have to fit between the kitchen and you bed. Can you turn the bed 90 degrees? Best of luck! You are doing great 😊
Nice work Goncarlo. To not have gas rings and a dresser fit you r clothes. Making progress every day 👍 love from Cornwall ❤
Thank you Terry! Slowly but steadily this place is becoming a home 😉
Now you can cook, great. Dresser looks pretty too.👍
It’s been a game changer!
❤
Love the chair, works well for your place.👍
I agree! I love it too
Very nice job. Little by little you are making it all work. Luck with preparing for winter 🍀
Thank you!! I’m excited (and slightly nervous 😬) for it!
Much much easier to cut a doorway in the red tile. I would explore every option before messing wit the stone. THat is a jigsaw puzzle you don't want to deal with. Cut the door in the red tile and make one step down to a stone patio that runs the length of the building in the shade of the tree!
Yes, I’d prefer cutting the hole in the red tile too! I’m not sure if it’ll be possible though, as the only red tile wall is the one where the window is… I’m thinking of layout possibilities that could potentially accommodate for this
@@goncalovalle Best wishes!
Will be an amazing space to enjoy a hot drink, looking out the window when the winter cold & rain come. Well done man. Inspiring. I need to stop obsessing abt these videos & find my own slice of heaven like this.
That makes me really excited for the winter! Thank you! 🙏
Your cupboard looks so cool in your place, think the idea of the door will connect you so much better with your garden area. Maybe full or half glass would help bring in the light and give you a view. Great watching.👍
Thank you! Yes, I agree! I think the door would 100% benefit from having a window
Lookin goooooood 😊 def do a door
Thank you! I’ll definitely do one, just thinking about when and where!
I enjoy your videos so much! I really enjoy watching the process/progress.❤
Thank you! I’m glad you like them! 🙏
Good job... you're going to have a real comfortable home real soon due to all your hard work.
Thank you! It is really coming along nicely! Hopefully it stays this way!
Your self-done barn conversion has become an excellent tiny home with every key comfort.
I didn't realize the path outside your door was public access! I thought that was your own pathway for your land. No wonder the water meter is just outside a barn wall.
Maybe now isn't the best time of year to create another entrance to the house? The rain seems unpredictable? Might be better to waterproof your dwelling by finishing the roof before "for real" 🌫⛈winter⛈🌫 sets in 🌧😬🌧. Insulation up there would be good. Maybe you can put up sandwich panel roofing, and then ponder through winter if you might like to add a loft space build next year. Strategic glass blocks and/or velux roof window might be cool, too.
Thank you! Yea, I keep going back and forth with the idea of the door. I think it’s something I’ll want to do, I’m just not sure if now’s the time for it… we’ll see! 😅
It looks so nice and homely now with a kitchen and a dresser - maybe it's also the colour of the lights that make it look really nice and cosy in there. Awesome work - you've done a hell of a lot and hope that you're proud of it 👷😛
Thank you so much! Yes, I definitely think that the lights help! 😅
Glad to see that you are now literally "cooking on gas" 😁 (a phrase used in the UK when making good progress with a task, typically after some initial difficulty).
I didnt know about that expression!
Thank you! It's such a game changer!
In the U.S., it's usually "Now you're cooking *with* gas!"
Congratulations on another achievement well done! 🎉😊 It looks very good. Keep going my friend, you got this! ❤
Thank you so much! 🙏
Would be great to build a deck with a patio door leading into house..... Build pillars with rock.....
That would be awesome! I'm thinking of building a deck in front of the small barn, so that would work out perfectly
Obrigado! 🙏
Sim, qualquer dia irei começar a plantar coisas! Para já ainda tenho alguns projetos que quero acabar antes do inverno, por isso estou a prioritizar isso.
Is that the only type of gas line you have to choose from in Portugal? Just curious. Glad the stove top worked once the gas had a chance to seep through. One step at a time. Do you have more than the two buildings and are there more on that particular property? I don't recall seeing that answer from the beginning, but I can go back. Sorry the kitty never showed back up. Maybe when you are all done and without projects you can adopt or save another one. See you next time.
I’m not sure if this is the only type of gas line you can get here in Portugal, sorry!
There are two buildings at the land. This one and a bigger two room stone barn, which I’m also thinking of converting into a bigger home!
What about being allowed to put in kitchen? The pre 1951 rule and habitacion permit
