Don't understand you guys are so much more entertaining , interesting, knowledgable , hard working than most expats that are improving unloved ,forgotten places in Portugal where basically the young Portuguese do not want to live but have so few likes in comparison to some of the less interesting sites. Having lived here for many years with 4000 sq metres of land I think I understand just how much effort it takes to move 4 square metres . Keep posting I will keep adding a like, good luck and hope that you have many years loving each other and your property.

We jokingly refer to spekbome as bacon trees here in SA! Spek being bacon. They grow very well and contains vit C and can also be eaten in salads. Good food!

You can eat spekboom, it's also called elephant food. If you have the right plant, some or all of the leaves should be heart shaped. The little, "juicy" leaves you can eat. I put them in a relish with onion, pepper, vinegar, oil. They have a fresh and sour taste (lemony).

That is a sweet wood burner with the broiling rack and the baking oven. I suppose you could leave the oven door open to spill more heat into the room! Very nice!

Annie sorry about finger, you seem to be handling that well. Lovely you in pink. Nick for being retired (in uk) you are so busy in Portugal but seem happy with your busy schedule as well. A free standing stove is so lovely to have. ❤
We had our stove chimney flue going straight up... it was a disaster water came down every time it rained no matter what cowl we put on it ruined the stove we should have gone for a 45deg angle that went directly outside with a door on the bottom and then up past the roof. If the pipe is in the roof space you cant see what is going on eg: heat or water problems ....in another house we had the ceiling plaster come down because if the heat.... your chimney has to be higher than the roof so that it draws🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

I have that kind of lizard/gecko and they are nocturnal. I turn the porch light on at night and that's where they eat all the green bugs. Since the green bugs don't move fast my geckos are quite thick in the middle . We are in the hills of the Algarve.
Are your green bugs Aphids? Bless 🌟geckos💖, they eat mosquitos and flies too.

Piglets are so cute !
I am delighted to see you taking charge of these poor baby pigs. Cindy didnt have a clue what to do and they were dying one by one. Pigs this age dont eat out of bowls, the minute she gave them a bottle they latched on like crazy. Hopefully you will bottle feed them in hope of their survival.
Thankfully they are eating from a bowl, but we have a bottle just in case, we are keeping a close eye😁

Nice video! Nice piggys... Your chimney tubing through the ceiling great! I should put some grating around the pipe then you have heat flowing up in your future bed room. Thats what I did though and I can close it. Another advantage is if you have loft windows in sommer you can vent some air through from cooler down stair air. Great to see the moving of the stove I still wonder is that good for te hip of Andrea? Good recovery of her finger keep it up and healing!

Dear Nick I have been watching from the beginning and greatly admire the depths of your knowledge. Which makes me wonder why you didn't put a thick rug under Angie's side of the stove so she could slide it. Since she's so much shorter than you. No offense meant to either of you. As this has been my standard practice being quite short myself.
Not sure if i commented when this vlog came out. If not, probably was distracted with traumatic elder parent caring that weekend. Fortunately, with good food, fluids, and rest, mom was able to regain ability to walk around the house again
