Our narrowboat life adventure. Earlier this week we posted some video footage kindly donated by one of our lovely subscribers, Kev the Brinklow Kayaker, showing the horrific-looking landslide at Brinklow on the Oxford Canal.
The response from viewers has been amazing, so much so we want to try and pull everyone's opinions together in one place. So, we've set up a poll to ask viewers how long they think it will be until the CRT re-opens the canal, what the cost will be, and why it happened in the first place.
Everyone has a vote on all 3 questions so let's see what the consensus is shall we?

The canal and River trust is to blame for not managing or maintaining tow paths correctly or os vegetation, bearing in mind canal history! Extreme weather. Is definitely a factor . Except that with our stoppage at Brinklow. It's a known issue. CRT thinks more of walkers and cyclists than boat paying licence customers.
You can't blame CRT, a rotational slide (landslip was most likely due to the extreme weather we have had, they got the same problem on the K&A canal at Limpley Stoke, a leak, embankment is on the move.
Great idea, the link works.

Probably better to see if they could reuse the old route, if it's still there & not built on, that cutting is a money pit...
As a kid I visited section of the old arm from under the bridge on the rose narrow boat side of this land slip and its just a long boggy section bottom of a field used yo have the skeleton of an old working boat you could still see back then.
Ghe canal route went across the main street in Brinklow where the purple brick house now stands the canal routed out the rear if that house and turned back to follow the edge of the now playing field and then crossing the main street once again just below the last shop and it then routed beyond the rear of the houses to where an old section was used for the British legion fishing club but its now not used and the route of the canal went right up to join the canal at the carpark just off all oaks road.
So if we still had that old canal it would have been amazing and would have put Brinklow on the map for tourism for sure.
I do wish the old arm could be reduced out and used but it can never run the same route too much of it built on or private land.
Cost would be immense 😅

@@Kev_the-Brinklow-Kayaker Probably a cheaper option than sorting out the cutting in the long run.
