    I know this in a very old thread but want to update anyone searching for an answer. My Frigidaire Dehumidifier would not drain through the hose, found this video to be very helpful. Unfortunately, the part he ordered is no longer made. Mine is an older model than his and does not have the bent style hose connector. The hose connection just comes straight out the back. I ignored the advise regarding “venting” the hose and just found a stopper to plug the hole inside to divert the water from the tank to the hose. I bought a packet of various sized silicone stoppers at Amazon for about $10. Since they are tapered, there were a few that fit. I picked one that I could easily push in, yet was long enough to also pull out. So far working like a charm as water is flowing through the hose to the basement drain and tank is empty. Yay.

    Frigidaire says the part is discontinued. I followed an early commenter's advice and drilled a 3/16 hole on top of the drain tube. That fixed the problem.

      @markwaite9937. did you drill the hole on top of the drain hose or on top of the drain connection in the back of the humidifier (the plastic connection?)

    Hope yours continues to work out for you. I tried a few things before I had to order the kit. I propped the front wheels, shortened the drain hose, and made my own plug using plastic wrap. Nothing worked for more than a few days, so I ordered the kit. The kit has been installed and trouble free since I put it in.

    Did this work for you? I have the exact same unit with the angle drain spout. I mimicked the drain part you received from frigidaire by simply drilling a 3/16 hole in the top of the angled drain nozzle. Worked like a charm. I did not even have to plug the hole where the water drains into the bucket. I have no issues with drainage after I drilled the hole. Thanks for the video. It saved me the hassle of having to get on the phone with frigidaire to request the part.

      Yes, my WayKar dehumidifier did not drain through the new "longer "added hose. The internal container kept filling up and unit shut off. I drilled a small hole in outlet hose on the top side. The unit now drains drops every 30 seconds. Think of it like holding your finger over straw water filled. No water drops out. The hose from internal water layer back up to the unit has build up of slight air pressure keeping the hose from draining.

    I had a similar problem with my 70 pint Frigidaire model FAD704DUD not draining into the hose. On mine the hose attached to a straight pipe that came out the back horizontal (not like yours where it is angled down). What I figured out was the very slight depth of the hose washer was obstructing the water flow and causing it to fill the bucket rather than run out the hose. I propped up the two front feet of the humidifier by about 1/4" and that was enough to fix the problem.

    @davisgermany Před 5 lety +1

    Doublewide did the fix work with the air hole angled towards the side? I just got this model Frigidaire dehumidifier as a warranty replacement when my previous one started leaking all over. Had it about a year and tried all the cleaning methods but it still leaked. I was only using the bucket- no hose. So kudos to Frigidaire for sending me a brand new replacement model within a week of filing the claim. Very simple process, didn’t cost me a thing. But shame on Frigidaire for not including the adapter kit! Or fixing the known problem to begin with! I didn’t even know it needed an adapter until I tried hooking up the hose to a floor drain and ran into all the same issues as everyone else (water going into bucket, not hose, etc). I found your video on CZcams when searching for answers. Very helpful.
    This next bit of info is for others and might prove helpful: I went to the Frigidaire website and did an on-line chat with a customer service rep. I loathe phone calls for this sort of thing! The rep had not heard of the adapter kit part. When pressed, she said all units come with a “hose kit”. I told her mine did not and I still have the box - definitely not in there. She then offered to send me one free of charge!. I should receive it in 7-10 days. So again... she went from denial that there was a part to there’s one in the box to I’ll send you one for free.
    By the way all those posters about your daughter making noise (happy noises I might add) must not have kids. You could clearly hear another adult in the background so I’m sure she was well attended. And how wonderful to be able to have time at home to share moments and support natural curiosity. Mine are only 12 and 14 and have no interest in things like this anymore. These previous days go too fast - enjoy and cherish!

    Thanks for the video, I have a Frigidaire 70-pint model I purchased only yesterday. The supplied tailpiece comes out of the machine horizontal on the side. The issue is the same the air needs to vent the reservoir instead of overflowing into the bucket triggering shut off when full. They never heard of any fix for my model, A third-rate plumbers helper knows enough to vent a drain, but a team of engineers for a big company I suppose that is asking too much. Will post a fix if I decide not to return the whole unit.

    I had a different brand of dehumidifier, one of the dehumidifiers that was recalled. It had the same kind of problems with water not draining out the hose. It seems like a recurring issue. I found that any kind of a small restriction in the hose will cause this to happen.
    Bacteria growing in the hose, not quite level, or the rubber washer on the end of the hose to wide.

    Even getting vacuum locked on the drain; it shouldn't have leaked. If the drain line is not working it should only collect in the drawer and shut off when it is full. I have to use the drawer and mine leaks also. I think the little drain hole that drains into the bucket gets a little slime mold around it and it stops off. Not sure yet.

    Same issue and I'm trying to find a solution. (smh) . Looks like the same model, FAD704DWD? Whatever the case, this is 2 years old this Summer...2018, 2019 I had no issues with this draining into my sump pump using the hose. Suddenly it just stopped doing it in late June. Going down in the basement and manually emptying this thing out every 5-6 hours.
    Hose looks fine, I connected reconnected, repositioned the unit. Nothing.
    I'll give them a call. Amazingly I did get a "Warranty, Choose your new plan" mailing from them a few days ago...$21.90 for one year, then it goes up from there. No, I'm not paying for extended warranties!

    Mine had been draining for a year or two, then quit. It turns out that the drainage hose got clogged- somewhat common. I just hooked the hose up to a pressurized spigot, and it cleared the clog and works fine again.

    • @davek3308
      @davek3308 Před 5 lety +2

      I had exactly the same issue as Rick H...almost 2 years working ok, then it stopped draining through the hose and instead filled up the bucket. I unscrewed the plastic adapter from the unit, then took off the hose clamp from the adapter, cleaned all parts (lots of rust-colored gunk - it was easy to see why it wouldn't drain), reassembled and it now works great. Took 5 minutes. It was the manufacturer-supplied adapter that was clogged...my hose was not the issue, though I did run hot water through it, anyway.

    Better get that water hose outside. Your floor system probably already damaged, at least moldy. You are dumping that water on the top of the floor insulation. That water evaporates back inside the house anyways.

    I purchased this unit Nov 2015. I called Frigidaire about the drain problem. They sent me the bent adapter which does not work for obvious reasons. Today they told me there is a new kit they will send me to address the problem. several reconnected advanced and more hand dialed calls. I did get a rep but the problem would not be fixed without a 9.99 plus 6.95 shipping fee. They have a part for a known problem, But want the consumer to pay to fix it.
    First number from unit is no longer a usable number BUT it did give me a new number. Why not just advance that called number to the correct call center.
    The second number was to Lowe's where we bought it...went to a long list of numbers to push, be sure to push the right number or you have to call again.( we had a few opperators and advanced connections here)
    Third number was a toll call we went back to the second number and tried another option.
    (here we got to our final tech person, she tried to be helpful but followed the company line and could not solve out non-draining continuous-drain dehumidifier problem.)
    After doing the trouble shoot game we decided to not pay for the kit that Frigidaire has to fix their problem...
    They have a part to fix a problem but do not want to admit its their design problem...

    thanks for attempting to put up an instructional video, but you need to avoid a few c things... 1st, Loose the screaming crying baby in the background. 2nd, lose the attitude about the non-included part.
    The VAST majority of dehumidifier are not recommended to be used with hoses because owners tend to set them up and then ignore them for long periods. This leads to many issues such as badly clogged air filters which can cause units to over heat and cause fires. anyone using a hose still needs to check everything every few days. If your unit runs constantly or more then a few minutes every hour... YOUR USING TO SMALL A UNIT. dehumidifier are for minor dampness issues, if they are running constantly you have bigger problems to identify with moisture issues.

    • @joedoakes8778
      @joedoakes8778 Před 7 lety +10

      You're right regarding the screaming child but wrong about the non-included part. When one purchases any product the expectation is that said product works as advertised without any deficiencies present or modifications required. This unit has a built-in hose drainage attachment and the instructions clearly show that all that is required is the attachment of a hose to a fitting to make that option functional. If the addition of a part is required, that part should be included with the unit when shipped from the factory. This gentleman has every right to be irate!

    *@Christopher Thompson, Wow! I have this EXACT MODEL. All I did was attach a garden hose to the slanted plastic pipe in the back. (after I took its cap off) I put the bucket back in and made sure the setting was on CO "continously mode," and within an hour water was coming out of the other end of the hose, and my bucket was bone dry. I am a girl. You guys overthink things. It's designed so the water goes to the back pipe first. When that overflows because it comes with the cap on, the water re-routes to the bucket. If you take that back cap off, the water is already pooling there and it will come out. Cap on = goes to the bucket. Cap off = gravity takes over and goes out the back into a hose you attach.* 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
