    theres literally a circuitboard right where the buttons are in that unit.. Guarantee your getting that board wet by doing this. Its only a matter of time before you ruin it by either getting the board too wet or it corroding after time.

    I have the same model. I strongly recommend removing the back panel if you do this. There are a lot of electrical connections in there, and you really want to dry them out completely. It’s only about 6 screws and then the panel pulls off. Without doing that, the water will stay in that compartment for a long time and cause lord knows what problems.

    I would heat dry that, wait 24 hours, and then plug it into a GFCI outlet before turning it back on. One commenter mentioned that spraying it could corrode the circuit board. Perhaps using compressed air while wearing a dust mask is a better idea. Or vacuum out the dust (don't forget the mask).

    I used spray bottles and dragged the filter and catch basin upstairs and cleaned it. There is a little pipe where the water collects and drops and I reached in and wiped out the buildup. Just spraying through the front with water and enzyme cleaner and using a fan to dry it greatly increased the flow. Thank you for the video.

    Man I just happened upon this content. Please if you own this dehumidifier and are watching this, DO NOT DO THIS. Yes for the short term it will do a 50% coil clean. Long term this method will absolutely degrade the electrical controls.
    Do this instead:
    Wear a dust mask. Take the panels off, locate the coil. Start with a soft bristle brush. Then, use a compressor with an air nozzle on the coils. Clean the filter with dawn soap and water and let dry. Reassemble.
    I don’t doubt the OP’s intentions but take it from an hvac certified tech. Cheers.

    Well man I'm amazed your machine still works after that all that. Mine's specifically says not to use it in a wet environment so I'm not comfortable taking a hose to the machine. Also generally speaking LCD screens and water don't mix. Sure taking a hose to the bucket part is fine. I'm having a weird situation with mine. It seems to be dripping blackish water out of it. I don't know if it's mold or not but it's not just coming from the collection tray. Because the tray has a sort of lid and where the drop water drops through the lid I can see some of this residue. It wipes off rather easily it almost looks like a sort of graphite. I bought another dehumidifier last week and I just changed the tank for the first time and that one doesn't seem to have any of this black stuff in it so far. I clean the filter regularly on the first one and it does seem to pick up quite a bit of sort of fabricy dust particles. I had it for a while in a bathroom that had some black mold on the wall so I'm thinking maybe some of the mold got inside of the machine. unfortunately I don't know how else to clean it because taking the screen out is one thing but actually opening up the machine is a whole another story. I'm not really mechanically in client but I may try to take it apart I'm just a little hesitant to do so because it's a brand new machine only a few months old and I don't really want to break anything. But I had another dehumidifier at another house in previous years and I don't remember that one dripping any of this blackish water either. The water from the previous machine looked relatively clean for the most part. I mean it certainly didn't look like it had some sort of graphite in it. When I empty the tank and this one I can still see this sort of grayish blackish residue on the sides and at the bottom. Hey wipes out relatively easy with a paper towel. I tried pouring some straight vinegar into the bucket when I after I changed it. That seemed to help clean the bucket somewhat but like I said it seems to be dripping from inside of the machine so I don't think just cleaning the bucket even with bleach is going to solve my problem. Appreciate anybody's feedback if they've experienced something similar with their machines. and good luck with your hose and down project mine doesn't seem to be making noises or anything weird like that is just this dripping sort of weirdness

      @mngrrl Před 2 lety +1

      I have this machine and have the same problem! I use it in my finish basement to keep the humidity level in check and I could smell something icky when I turn it on. It works great and my tank does get gross so I take it apart to get a good clean but I noticed I have black clumps like this video coming out of the water hole into the tank. My filter is almost totally clean each time I clean it besides some fibers, nothing like this guy's filter. I don't know if I trust rinsing it out w a hose, but I also am not sure how to deep clean it! So, I'm with you!

    • @StAnger561to770
      @StAnger561to770 Před 2 lety +1

      @@mngrrl well to be honest I have actually two machines and I've noticed something about them. One of the machines has a bucket that comes out of the bottom front the second machine has a bucket that comes out of the back bottom. The one where it comes out of the back seems to get significantly dirtier quicker. I've done the same thing I've cleaned the filter but still it tends to get this sort of black fiber gunk build up. The one with the front bucket doesn't really seem to get that. I really think it's some sort of design flaw with these machines. I was able to give the back bucket one a deep clean but I had to literally take the machine apart and it took a long time and in my opinion it's way too difficult we shouldn't have to do this to keep it clean. The machine with the front bucket I never had to take apart once. Anybody who's looking to buy one of these machines I'd recommend one where the bucket comes out from the front. Does black clumps if you take your machine apart with a screwdriver you'll be able to find places where they build up but be prepared to spend a few hours doing it. As far as the tank part itself I find that pouring a little white vinegar into the empty bucket helps to keep it clean. You definitely need to clean it out by hand occasionally though the bucket part that is.

      Hi there, I know I said one question and keep asking:) If it's fine with you, I have one more: does this process also help with the bad smell/odor? I think it's the smell of mold or bacteria. I didn't know when I first bought the machine that it needed that attention so I've just cleaned the filter whenever the machine warned me about it. I bought the machine last winter and have never cleaned it other than the filter. And now, I have this bad smell as a result. So first I cleaned the bucket and now it doesn't smell anymore but still there is smell in the machine coming from inside. So I cannot use it. Is it too late for me now? or can your method also save me from this situation? thanks again:)

      Good question. I would give it at least 24 hours to dry out to be safe. You'll know because the unit won't be making any "sloshing" sounds which would indicate the fan is coming into contact with water. The environment you're in will have an impact. If you live in a hot, dry climate it won't take nearly as long to dry out.

Models like the one shown have a timer to help you remember to clean it and the filter light will come on after some amount of run-time. Resetting it only resets the timer, nothing more.
