    Our garage was overly humid until we sealed the floor. Major improvement. The hardest part was removing everything off the floor. 😉

    CT here too, Windsor Locks. Bought a new house and the basement humidity averages ~80%. Bought a dehumidifier and it needs to be drained 3x a day, can't believe the amount of water it pulls out. So I need to figure out how to get the water pumped into one of the drain pipes in the basement.
    I am thinking about getting a small tank, putting a automatic sump pump in it, feed the drain hose from the dehumidifier into the tank & a drain hose from the sump pump to a drain pipe in the basement. When the water reaches a certain level in the tank, the pump turns on & drains the water.

      Yea it's crazy, easily a gallon or two a day in my place. Check out the video description for the pump and dehumidifiers I bought. Let me know how it goes!

      I use a clear 25-30 gallon storage bin. I have the dehumidifier on top and a hole in the top with a hose running out of the dehumidifier into the bin and a water pump with hose. It takes about a week to fill it up and i just pump it outside

      @@Paulio91184 Ah so you manually switch the pump on when it gets full? Is there anything to stop it from overflowing? If you want to get really clever you could put something in the bin that floats on water and activates a switch when it gets high enough. Would be a fun project. :)

      @@AytwitEngineeringI don't have it set up to stop overflow but i pass it every day so I always check... One with an automatic float would be awesome but I'd have to plumb it into the drain

    Oh my goodness, your basement is a black mold generator…super dangerous for your health, family and pets.

      @AytwitEngineering  Před 5 měsíci

      The mold is one of the reasons we moved out. And also why I spent so much effort on the dehumidifier situation. Most of the mold was already there from previous owner and was dormant, but would come alive again if humidity started building up. The "super dangerous" part is what you make of it. Reality reflects what you believe. If you believe it's super dangerous it will be. Once one understands the reflective nature of reality, things like mold become more about ambience, an annoying bad smell that reflects your own inner moldiness due to laziness (e.g. not spending a lot of time on a nice dehumidifier setup). Every house in humid climates that was built in the past few decades has a "mold problem' by default, whether people are aware of it or not. Most are not aware because they take care of only the visible problem, then it's out of sight out of mind. Thanks for watching!

      Thanks for the heads up. Looks like they're not on Amazon anymore, but they're named "Frigidaire FAD504DWD Energy Star 50-pint" and "Frigidaire FAD301NWD Energy Star 30-Pint Dehumidifier". The 50-pint was the better one. I updated the description.

    Great helpful video thanks! So there’s the 1/50th hp and they have a 1/30th hp model as well that’s actually cheaper. What’s your thoughts on which one is stronger/better

      I like the more expensive one. Seems stronger, and has an exact humidity meter and settings. Thanks for watching!
