  • Just a quick fix if water isn't draining from discharge hose/line and instead is just filling the dehumidifier's water collection bucket.

    Here was the issue with my unit. Behind the bucket is a latch/sensor that is released when a float mounted inside the bucket reaches its apex. I simply had the bend the latch forward a little. This was still a factor despite draining to a hose.

    • @mrimatt6210
      @mrimatt6210 Před 2 lety +5

      Had a similar problem, but instead of bending the latch, fixed it by sticking a small but strong magnet to the one built into the floater. I think over time the built in magnet weakened. Super easy fix.

    Yup. I had my dehumidifier set to drip directly into the sub pump. No hose. So I wiggled a large zip tie into the hose attachment. Sure enough, water and a little clump of mud shot out. Now it is dripping out the back again.
    Thanks

    I think I have the exact same model, and the problem I keep having is an orange-brown goop that builds up in the drain hose and the discharge port. I think it may be corrosion from the alleged brass connector on the hose. I have searched for reasonably priced hoses with plastic or nylon connectors but haven't found any yet.

    Jay, what is that 2nd line running up behind the unit? Do you have to connect the drain hose AND the smaller tube at the same time? If so, why not run that one into the drain like the big hose?

    • @AverageJay12
      @AverageJay12  Před 3 lety +1

      There isn't a second line. The two things running up and down the wall are the power cords...one for the dehumidifier and the other for the sump pump under the wood panel on the floor. :)

      I do not have a clog. Water runs thru the hose fine. But when I hook it to the Freidrich dehumidifier with "Continuous Draining", it no longer drains thru the hose, but collects in the bucket instead. I have no idea what the issue is. HELP PLEASE

    My brand new dehumidifier is draining through the hose supplied by the maker however, it is also draining into the bucket and shutting off! I have now taken that plastic tubing off and replaced with a more round garden hose that is sturdier. The hose that came with the unit is not at all kinked! Do you think that the circumference of the garden hose will make a difference? I used this same garden hose on my last Dehumidifier but now I have a different make of dehumidifier and it may be a gravity problem so just tell me what you think! The hose that came with the unit hose was only draining some water and the bucket gets full and shuts off. I had cut the hose supplied with the unit as it was way too long but that didn't make a difference or at least I didn't give it a chance to. The other thing is I could place the dehumidifier up on a higher crate. What do you suggest?

    • @AverageJay12
      @AverageJay12  Před 11 měsíci

      It "could" be a problem with elevation and hose should be not be horizontal (or going up) to the location you are draining into (assume sump?) Elevation may work but also make sure that your drain hose is FIRMLY screwed onto the discharge port. If too loose it will drip into the unit's bucket.

  • @Noooo985

      Anela...I have seen one time where the clog was in the connector piece inside the dehumidifier rather than the drain hose itself. You may want to check that part as well. Also make sure the hose is connected tightly.

      I have the hOme brand dehumidifier and when I remove the garden hose to flush it out I also get a pipe cleaner or qtips and clean the inside of the fitting that the hose attaches to. It can also get clogged with goop and force the water into the resevoir. Pipe cleaner or a thin bottle brush does the best job for this. I also set my unit on top of an old plastic milk crate for better air circulation and a steeper drop of the drain hose into the sump pump well.

    I own a Freidrich "Continuous Drain" Dehumidifier. It's a very narrow hose which connects to the back of the unit (not a large garden hose). I cleaned the hose and ran water thru it. It's not clogged. Still, when I turn the unit on, it no longer drains thru the hose, but instead, collects in the bucket. I have no idea what the issue is. HELP PLEASE

    • @AverageJay12
      @AverageJay12  Před měsícem +2

      Three other things to check. 1. Make sure drain hose is not resting in water...that will cause back pressure and not allow free draining. 2. Ensure the hose is TIGHTLY connected to the dehumidifier. 3. Make sure that the connection on the dehumidifier is clear and not just the hose. Sometimes debris backs up into the fitting itself on the dehumidifier. Good luck!
