Gynostemma, also called jiaogulan, is a green leafy herb that became famous as a legendary infused "immortality tea" among certain isolated highland villages populations of southern China. This is a location where the plant naturally grows wild and where people were reported to live healthy long lives from daily consumption.
Because of its remote use, it has only just recently been introduced into the Chinese herbal system and is now a popular hot tea to drink throughout Asia for its energizing and anti-fatigue effects, often used as a replacement for coffee and caffeinated teas. Containing saponin gypenosides and other constituents, the leaves are often compared to that of ginseng.

JIaogulan is actually one of the few herbal teas that, besides the benefits, actually tastes delicious.
I love this man’s voice and extensive information. I appreciate you.
I appreciate you back!
i just discovered this herb and came straight here and boom you have a video about it...i love this channel! thank you!
Glad to be of service...
@@SuperfoodEvolution i recommend your channel to everybody because of how professional it is with the detailed research ... i think i've read a comment where you said your wife does the research and if so please thank her for the hard work .
i'm wondering if you have yet done one on Acorus Calamus , also called Sweet Flag root , as well as Vaj .
According to Ayurvedic medicine it even works on the part of the brain for speech and is said to help heal people with stuttering .
Thank you so much for sharing and the important information about Gynostemma🙂very informative!
You are right on, also his voice and sound so gentle
Why thank you...
I bought a lot of products from different companies that you referred us
Awesome video, I'm learning so much. I love your channel. Thanks for sharing.

Haha that made me laugh but don't worry don't give up the learning process
LOVE Gynostemma.
I found this herb through dragon herbs back 3 years ago when my son was born, and didnt like it much at first but learned to love this stuff.
I drink 1-2 cups a day, and when i do, its during mid-day when im starting to feel a bit bored or feeling like i need a nap or something, and this drink picks me right up and keeps me focused and ready for whatever the day has ahead.
Some times you have to drink a second cup in the evening or at night, but this stuff is really great.
i prefer to use the dragon herbs brand, its called spring dragon and its sprayed with like 5 other tonic herbs in extract form, so it enhances the effects and brings others not normally found in Gynostemma alone.
REally unique product, and cannot recommend it enough, i just generally feel healthier when i consume this stuff daily, that's enough to keep me sold on the tea.
ill be drinking this for the rest of my life for sure, especially since they say as you age, and get older, like in your 50-60-70 and beyond, you will want to keep Gingseng and (gynostemma) in mind because of the saponins and ginseng is just something you want to take later in life, i hear its very beneficial.
So this is like cheap version of ginseng, so i figure consume it daily for the benefits.
Thanks for the video, i am always recommending people to your channel for help learning about certain herbs, and you cover pretty much everything worthwhile out here on earth!
Cya!

Brian i'd like to know how long you usually let the gynostemma steep for .
The reason i ask is when it comes to teas that are for healing and medicinal purposes i always let them steep long to get the benefit of the plant or herb .
It always tastes bitter to me but usually bitter is a sign of healing alkaloids .
Yet i'm reading where people say the tea tastes good and i noticed you said you didn't really care for the taste .
Can you please try to describe what it tastes like and the reason i ask is because i bought some at my local Asian Grocers but suspect it might be inferior quality ... other people are saying the tea tastes sweet .
@@gardensofthegods I typically let it steep for 20-30 minutes, and then drink - but i also heat up more water and let that same gynostemma leaf steep in the new hot water again, a second time - sometimes i let it steep over-night, it just depends.
But yeah, the longer the better imho, and it does taste sweet - some of it doesn't, i have not tried the non-sweet and the sweet varieties side-by-side so i cannot tell you the difference.
I use Dragon Herbs brand of gynostemma, it's called Spring Dragon longevity tea - look them up on google.
They are amazing, and they also spray their gynostemma leaf with other herbal extracts (spray as in coat it), eleuthero, goji, and a few others.
Try it, you won't regret it - their quality is as good as it get's,.
Hey man another flawless upload,
keep up the good work my bhoy.. ps been taking this for months now and defo feel better away from health teas as they are still heavily caffinated!.
Another excellent video
Great video as usual!
Better update. Mountain Rose Herb hasn't carried jiaogulan for years, the one they carried showed positive for some pesticides (so they discontinued it) , and they haven't been able to find an acceptable one since.
Thanks for reporting that!
Try this site for excellent teas and priceyunnansourcing.com/products/liang-he-wild-grown-jiaogulan-gynostemma-pentaphyllums: If you guys are into Pu-erh teas, this is the site, but the best prices on jiaogulan as well.
Asian market in your local area may have it
Also, I grow jiaogulan successfully, and I live in zone 6. I have had my vines for 5 years now, and as long as you mulch them up good for the winter, they should survive, at least mine have. The only thing I noticed is that the imported herb must be processed with steam or something, it look different and tastes different. i still haven't learned yet what they do to it after harvest. i just dry mine like any other herb with low heat, and even though it doesn't taste the same, i am sure it still has all the saponins. It is a big savings to grow your own.
Very nice explanation.
Thank you.
Very informative video Thank you for sharing
This is my favorite channel 🥰
Thanks for the love!
i love this plant
Excellent narrative, narration and presentation.

Big thumb up . Thank you for this video. Tomorrow I'm buying that tea . I really need it.
It's good stuff, enjoy!
@@SuperfoodEvolution I got it . Works on me. Drop sugar level from 285 to 158 in 2 weeks. Drink 3 times a day . Now 1 time . Thank you for that information. Friend of mine order already. Will keep you posted.
I just placed my first order for some bulk variety! I cannot wait to try it! Great video & information!
Awesome let us know how it goes!
I have to wait for payday, but will be buying in bulk for my mum, friends and myself
How many fresh leaves should be used to make a cup of tea.
This is the ideal tea to drink in evening and at night because there is no caffein.
Don't kid yourself whatever i drank it late at night i realized it was a mistake because i think it gives you energy .
Something does not have to have caffeine in it to boost your energy
I love this herb :)
It has an interesting taste
Where can I buy the plant to grow it myself?
Brilliant video, thank you!
Hi Jason, thanks for the video. What is the effect of Gynostemma and Jing energy?
Thanks a lot.
You are so welcome!
I don't think Mountainherbs sells it anymore. I could not find it.
What is the best time to take it?
Can I use your video as a reference link for more information on Facebook?
I’m planning on selling a few dried herbs there and gynostemma is one of them.
+SuperfoodEvolution Thanks so much for this...great video and great superfood for sure...could you please do one on Matcha green tea too? thanks again!

I like to try ,where can i get it
Look in the description box!
Will I receive the benefits by eating the herb?
If you had watched the video you might have noticed this herb is available either loose to make a tea, or in veggie capsules. Obviously you would drink the tea or consume the capsules - so there's your answer.
You might make a nice sautee or stirfry🤷🏾♂️
and might I just add it amazes me this channel only has 107k subs
really goes to show how unhealthy mankind has become :s
kenny sharp
I Subd and hope Many others will as well we Must Be a Healthy Ppl
Is there a reason producers of otherwise informative videos feel the need to include a music track throughout the presentation? I'm at minute 1:14, and will be leaving. Please. We're here for the information. Try uploading a version of this excluding the music. It will be MUCH easier to listen to. (at least for people over the age of 6).

I must have missed the part where it said if it was safe while breastfeeding? my guess is most likely not! 😟 it sounds great though! great video! 👍🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Eu não entendo inglês sou 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
I bought the plant in a farm stand but i think i got the female type. It died on me. I want to find the male plant.
😢
looks like Virginia creeper
Do you need to cycle it?
Marcus Stanford ygm
Be careful, too much of this can make one “lazy “.
It looks like poison oak to me.
Lol just thinking the same....Lord willing I'm going to plant some this Spring.
Will certainly have to be sure the "Virginia creeper" and "poison oak" are no where near it. I just ordered the tea itself off Amazon and really like the "bitter sweet" flavor. bitter herbs are so healthy. just can't afford not to grow my own. $$ the cost for the tea is over the moon. heck I may start selling my own home grown Gynostemma Tea. your comment was great. take care!
Thank you, you as well. Hope you can manage to grow some successfully.
This tea is mazing. I have been drinking it for over 2 weeks now, I love the taste, I do not sweeten, and I feel as though it has really helped me as far as circulation, my arthritis, and hope to continue see it's benefits .
Rhonda Davis
Hi has it helped with your arthitis?
yes it has Maria. And I have lost 20 pounds also.
For me the tea tastes horrific...am I the only one that thinks this?
True is very strong
Is there any relation between gynostemma and the condition called gynecomastia (man-boobs)?
No
Sounds like you can eat cabbage and get the same thing
In a word; NO!
