    Mold that propagates from exterior moisture and through the wall to the interior surface, cannot be corrected with paint. "Out of sight, out of mind" doesn't work with mold contamination, which is thriving inside the wall.

      Eyre Borne thanks for the reply. I livei n a condo very small studio unit, and I dont know why this is very prone to molds, I open the window and exhaust in the bathroom but still, every food I live on the table (inside a tupper wear) gets mold in 48 hrs. I mean I know I shouldn't leave it there but still 48 hrs is too fast, not to mention I had a huge mold problem few months ago that started in the shower heater. I don't use that anymore because of that.

      Only true way is to investigate why and where it is,smash plaster off to brick,repair outside walls or roof eves,maybe install another vent in the area and re-plaster wall/walls or ceilings then seal with mold resistant paint 👍👍👍

      Debonair? He's wearing an awful shirt with a tiny collar, and the top button is buttoned, just screaming for a necktie or bowtie to arrive. That's "debonair"?

    • @corrinjessen
      @corrinjessen Před 4 lety +10

      usernamemykel you obviously don't know what debonaire means... It's not about what you wear, but rather how you carry yourself.
      Debonaire: courteous, gracious, cheerful, having a sophisticated charm.
      So he can still be dressed in such a way that is not deemed ”good looking” and still be debonaire. This would be due to that fact that being debonaire is more of a character/personality trait than what you wear.

      @Archer335 Před 4 lety

      But is he offering truly helpful advice about mold mitigation? The answer is no. Mold needs to be assessed and mitigated by specialists - not some random guy offering highly questionable advice. This is a band-aid fix that could actually be more harmful than helpful because what mold you actually see can often be just the tip of the iceberg. If not handled in a timely fashion, mold can continue to grow and cause much worse problems further down the line.

    I use contractors grade x14. It is bleach but much stronger than household bleach. Spray it on and mold disappears before your eyes. Warm soapy water after and your done. If you have staining i use Kilz stain blocker. Then the paint you actually painted the wall with to match the existing color.

    My apartment has mostly gray mold all over the walls and ceilings and it was due to me being away from the apartment for a few months. I had my windows closed but had a ceiling fan on but it wasn't on high. I'm located in a very humid area. Will Zinnser primer work getting rid of the mold? I have used vinegar to try to get rid of the mold... spray it on wall and ceiling and wait an hour before scrubbing it with a bristle brush. In the areas with a good amount of gray mold, I was able to remove maybe 50% of it. It would then always come back. However, the big areas with a lot of gray mold which is throughout 2 rooms... I barely removed anything at all. Would this mold killing primer be all I need to remove the mold? So I just paint over the ceilings and walls and that is it? I have a ton of mold in these 2 rooms... apartment is just these 2 rooms. I heard you first need to kill the mold first... so that would mean spray vinegar on every ceiling and wall area with gray mold... then scrub all the areas... and even though the gray mold is still clearly visible... you then wait maybe an hour before you go and paint the wall and ceiling with this? The thing is I have a lot of gray mold throughout the ceiling and wall in one room... the other room it's mostly on the walls. The wall and ceiling is cinderblock or possibly concrete I believe. Can you give advice on this?

    • @caseG80
      @caseG80 Před 5 lety +2

      zahir2k check the other side of the wall or ceiling if possible he doesn’t speak about it but that mold is coming from somewhere most likely inside the wall there could be a lot more on the other side often people think they got it all but they leave a bunch of mold only to keep growing. I’ve done mold repair in homes and it can be plenty of places we can’t see unless the walls, floors or ceilings are opened up to inspect. One more thing once mold gets in drywall it’s best to replace it never really can get it all if it’s gotten bad. Cheers

      I’ve not experience that but try wiping the surface to see if it comes off and ventilating the room. It sounds like the wall isn’t breathing so extra ventilation might be needed. Hope that helps

      @@taramiller70 Dehumidifiers are used to reduce the amount of moisture, (humidity) in your home. Mould needs higher levels of humidity to grow and spread, so although dehumidifiers don't generally kill mould, (although some can kill mould spores in the air which is a good thing), they do greatly reduce the moist conditions that mould likes to grow in and therefore help to prevent or reduce mould growth. I hope that helps.

    • @juddery
      @juddery Před 3 lety

      @@taramiller70 Dehumidifiers can certainly help in the battle to prevent mould, but they don't generally actually kill mould and as with many things, how much it helps, greatly depends on various factors. What is causing high humidity in your home, (is it condensation or a leak for example), whether there is a much larger mould problem in your walls, floors, ceilings etc., that can't be reached, how good the dehumidifier is, (some are total rubbish and not worth bothering with, while others are extremely good at removing moisture from your house) and also if the dehumidifier if powerful enough for either your size of home or the amount of humidity if you have quite a lot. I'd say that your Mum is probably both right and wrong, depending on all of those factors combined and the specific use case. For example, if you have a lot of moisture/ damp in your home, then expecting a small, low powered dehumidifier to make any difference, is probably going to end in disappointment. Generally speaking, if you're thinking of buying any product, including a dehumidifier, do plenty of research on what is available, read or watch reviews on each product and get the best one you can afford, while making an informed choice. It's important to realise though, that a dehumidifier on it's own, won't get rid of existing mould, but by lowering the amount of humidity in your home, it can definitely help to prevent it coming back, but you have to have one that is capable of doing a good enough job for your specific situation.

    I was cringing the whole time where’s the face mask and the glasses for the eyes? You need to use a face mask and gloves specifically for the mold. You could get sick and have respiratory problems or health issues permanently for being negligent dealing with mold is no joke ! And after that you throw everything away ! You also need to disinfect the floors after dealing with mold !

    Mold can be a very serious issue and needs to be examined
    and mitigated by specialists - not some random guy who
    obviously does not know what he is doing.
    This man is not doing anyone a favor by offering his band-aid fix.
    What one SEES can be the tip of the iceberg. It’s not to be taken lightly.

    you cannot kill mold by painting over it and this is an irresponsible thing to tell people. You have to remove the source of moisture and water intrusion and remove affected things like drywall and killing mold does NOT make it non toxic and non allergenic. Sad
