Varys’ facial expressions were the best part of Joffrey’s small council.
Joffrey: “I am the KING!”
Varys: 😣😒
@@mythloverb5931 I dont remember the name of the channel but someone subtitled Varys as saying "Thank youuuuuu" when Joffrey swings his arm down 😂😂
The actor who played Joffrey was very good.
Very true and viserys too
For some reason, they keep forgetting the master of war position. I'm fairly certain the first time the position is ever even mentioned in the show is during season 5 when Cersei proclaims herself regent for Tommen. she appoints Qyburn as master of whisperers to replace Varys. And she asks her uncle Kevan to full the position as Master of war. Before he promptly roasts her and leaves.
Because the Master of War is a position invented by the show. There is no such thing as Master of War in the books.
The 'Protector of the Realm' is the head of all military affairs. Usually the King is also named 'Protector of the Realm.' There are exceptional circumstances, such as minority or unavailability of the King (i.e. King is wounded or sick), and the Hand of the King is named Lord Protector of the Realm instead.
The seat for military affairs is " Protector of the Realm" and it is held by the King, Hand or Regent.
@@hammer3721 Cersei as Regent was the Protector of the Realm after Rober's death in the books. But I think even in the show, they sort of hint at master of war being bogus title given by Cersei, trying to make sure Kevan serves on the council but without having any real power.

Controlling a position on the Council regarding military affairs is still a powerful placement.

I'd see a Master of War being useful though, one less thing the King/Hand or Regent has to worry about.
Weird how your example of Tyrion being a good Hand was when he gave Dorne a hostage and small council seat for nothing in exchange
Pretty sure it was to help the fact that Dorne hates the Lannisters and the crown and him trying to make that relation better
@@johnpauldriskill8737 still Mrycella is a hostage with no way out of Dorne alive in all respect & inviting Dorne in a enemy you’re helping become more powerful
@@Rahim.ali80 you do know why marriage alliances are made they’re to create alliances which is what the Lannisters needed from Dorne
@@Rahim.ali80 I mean they have no good reason to kill her, she's better alive and a tool then dead
"Stannis and Renly had different plans." Yeah and so did Cersi.
i must say, this channel is so consistently high in quality across the board. even when it is a GOT storyline or piece of subtext that does not concern my own personal preferences with regard to those things - it is always such interesting content. and this channel has definitely sparked a greater personal interest in some of the topics covered herein. cheers!
I am still baffled by how Joffrey was the king in acting out of control no want to control him and with no one want to take his power away. There are laws that they weren’t following at all. No wonder his small council was a massive embarrassment
Tommen's Small Council is the definition of corruption.
Tyrion only killed it from his perspective. He did very little that moved the needle.
Without him King's Landing would've fallen
Mce tyrell really was the MASTER OF SHIIPS
And is now the Hand of The King. With an oak chair carved as a hand. MACE THE ACE.
5:45 Tyrion did not kill it. He was decent As Hand.
Smarter man would use Pycelle to feed Cersei bad information, not throw him in the cell. Pycelle was the most loyal member of the council to Lannister cause. Tyrion suspected Petyr was bad and did nothing about it. He let Varys into his schemes. He should try his best to win Cersei over, many times he was cruel or bad towards her only because he could not control it.
He made few good choices, and many bad choices because of his inferiorty complex and arrogance.
He had a right to demand Casterly Rock but he could have been diplomatic. Maybe ask if he can be the heir if Jaime refuses. Or asi for a different seat, Lannisters had plenty after Blackwater.
Also the fact that he kidnapped his nephew Prince Tommen before the battle of Blackwater and held his life against one of his whores that Cersei kept hostage. This action is one of the big reasons Tywin is pissed at him during their meeting after the battle.
@@amanimckenzie32 and threatened to beat and rape him.
Tyrion is a very intelligent man but an intelligent man still can think & act foolish & his Dorne move was a foolish mistake put Dorne next to the King they really don’t respect make your niece a hostage she will not leave Dorne alive & I personally believe Tywin was poisoned by Oberyn before he fought the Mountain Tyrion was sub par at best as Hand of the King
Tyrion can be an evil little sod at times, quite different from how he is portrayed in the show. He did manage Blackwater Bay battle masterfully.
Yeah Tyrion was smart but he couldn't control his insecurities when it came to his family and hated being disrespected, much like his father and he made many mistakes because of this
Joffrey's small council was solid with Tywin as hand.
Great video! I can’t wait for the next part where you cover Tommen’s Small Council
The King is tired.
Always love your videos keep up the great work!
Thanks For all your videos!
Awesome vid as always.
Fantastic video keep it up you're doing amazing things 😁👍
Season two was golden.
Thank you so much!
Please make a video on Septon Barth. He was the best hand, right?
the way Barristan went out of KL is epic. Wrote his own destiny down and then walked away, killing any man that tried to stop him.
Excellent as always. Joined as a member as well.
Tywin should have made mace master of coin and paxter master of ships tyrion doesn't need to be in the council
Tyrion's position as Master of Coin was a reward for his leadership in The Battle of Blackwater. That and his marriage to Sansa Stark. Also I doubt Tywin wanted to place the crowns finances in the hands of an ambitious and obviously self interested (and Tyrell interested) person like Mace. The treasury was already in shambles and he needed someone smart to handle it. Mace was not that guy.
Could you please do a video on the green grace and the Ghiscari’s beef with Valyrians over the century?!
Thanks for the video, but Joffrey can burn in all 7 hells
5:20 FWIW, I remember the word "jackanapes" from the book Prince Caspian, in a similar situation. Miraz (the acting king) was mad at what he perceived as an insult, and was yelling about it to his advisors.
I've never gotten around to reading Tolkien, but given how much CS Lewis and GRRM loved his writings, I'm gonna guess that it's tucked away somewhere in one of his books too- I wouldn't be surprised if they got the term from him...
Thanks!
:D
Hey can't you do a video what rhegars small council would have look liked?
Lol Lord Barry
Can we please get a video on Tommen’s small council
U feed your dog 🐕 bones under the table 😂🤣😂 I absolutely love Tywin the show was over once they killed him off and so was house Lannister
Not really. After all, Tyrion Lannister was appointed hand of the king at the end, the most powerful position after the king.
Tywin was the the better hand 🖐️ of the king 👑 Tyrion on the other hand was hand of the king for his nephew who was poisoned and for Dany who was stabbed in the stomach so let's be realistic now 😎
Hey bro is it possible to add your own captions to your videos. I enjoy them but I can’t trust the auto caps as it sometimes is nonsensical
I need to read the books seems as I've watched the series I have finished A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms & Fire and blood
IMO Tyrion is not a very good hand of the king. Instead of using pycelle he puts him in a dungeon when pycelle was an agent of his family. He doesn’t get rid littlefinger even after knowing that littlefinger had framed him from the attempt on bran. Knew he couldn’t trust Varys but kept him around. Actively antagonized his sister and his nephew instead of working with them. The only good things he did was hav bronn as captain of the gold cloaks, since that gives you someone who’ll be somewhat loyal. And his actions at the Blackwater. Other than those 2 he was a rather poor hand of the king.
I wouldn't say actively antagonize cersei or joffrey considering they normally started the conflict.
WC!!!!!
Selmy described reply as a jacanapes. ( to sansa) it's an old English expression. Joker or fool . Well dressed fool .
What about areon waters master of ships in the books
aurane waters was on tommens small council
Tywin is the biggest hypocrite. First he was mad at Jaime Lannister for not killing Ned, and then he was mad that they did kill him.
That Jaimie scene was in the show only, and that was before the war started, its only during war that hostages are needed
Thank you buddy!!!!!
MAYBE SOMEDAY THAT IDIOT JRR MARTIN WILL ACTUALLY FINISH WINDS OF WINTER!!!!!
Totally looking forward t9 more of your content!!!!
Like step father like step son
Robert n Joffrey not attending the small counsel meeting
