Your vids on the LP 2844 inspired me to finally get one. I'm just a small time hobby seller and had managed to convince myself that a thermal printer would be overkill, but wow what a difference, I should have done this a long time ago. To think that I've been loading half sheet labels one at a time in a laser printer and cutting/trimming each one for *years* -- I've literally had this up and running for only about 2 hours, and I can already see that this is the most useful reseller tool I've bought in a long time.

Great video Thanks.makesure when changing the printing preferences on the computer, change the paper format to "inch" and then 4"x6". in the video it's already selected which I also followed and then my sample print came as a very tiny label. spent some time and then realised I had "cm" not "inch" because I was using just a normal A4 Paper printer before. for those who are with very little knowledge about hardware like me.

Hi my lp 2844 just recently went south, I get the orange/amber ring. I have tried the power reset turn power switch on while holding power button for 3-5 secs and still nothing works. Any thoughts?

Hi thanks for this wonderful demo. Would you be able to help me? I am sending a bunch of labels to the printer and the printer pauses a second between each label. Is there a setting to take off this pausing?
How do I add a second zebra LP2844 to the same PC windows 10? When I try to install the 2nd one, it just overrides the other one and the 2nd one takes its place. I need to install both, one for UPS labels, the other for Amazon FBA labels. I did it before, but for some reason, I can't install both to work independently anymore.

@@thecollegepicker You did help a lot. But I can't print the labels in my Etsy shop. The printer is there in my options, but it keeps changing the measurement from 4x6 and even if I reset it, it won't print...it's making me crazy.

Hi. Our business is looking for two identical labels in this format example; 20210421-1 F one will be for the tags on our product and the other a retained sample bag. Then it needs to move onto 20210421-2 F times 2 .... 20210421-3 F times 2 etc.
Can this machine be configured like this? Down the track we will set up as a bar code or QR system but for the meantime we just need to simply print as above. Perhaps you can you recommend another Zebra machine???
I am looking for a cheaper say to print Ebay and Etsy shipping labels. Is there a reason why Zebra? Currently I am using a laser printer to print 8.25" x 5.25". Is are the roll or stacked sheet paper cheaper?

Hello, I was gifted one and followed your instructions. The printer states error when I try to print to it but it senses it when I hard wire to my laptop. Any advice where to find steps troubleshoot? Google and CZcams searches failed me for a solution

Thanks for the tutorial, I am having an issue where it is printing the image on 2 seperate labels though. Any tips? Bottom half on the top offirst label, top half on the bottom of the second label
Try a calibration. Turn the printer off on the switch, hold the feed button down, and turn the printer on. Once it starts flashing red, release the button, let it calibrate. When the text says "in dump mode" or similar, press the feed button once and you have calibrated it.
Works for USPS only. How do you get it to print out fedex labels?

I've got a new problem with my Zebra TLP 2844 Z. Its been running great for a year. Now when I print a 4x6 label on ebay, the printer stops printing on the same part of the barcode and gives a flashing red light. Any idea what could be wrong?

Hi, I need help please. I bought Zebra LP 2844-Z off eBay, was pretty excited when I saw your videos. Printer arrived and first I spent hours trying to get driver to install correctly, finally I deleted my existing laser printer and it showed up under printers in Win 10 where as before it would show up in printer que but not under printers. The problem is it gives me error for pretty much anything I try to do. Try to use Zebra utility to calibrate - error printing, try to send command to feed one label - error printing, try to print 6 labels to setup dark level - error printing! Tried to calibrate using power on while holding the button and powering on - it lits up solid red for 5 seconds and than starts blinking green and red indefinitely and I have to power cycle to get out. Do you know what is going on? I am using 3.5x1" labels that came with the printer while I am waiting for FedEx and UPS to deliver my 4x6 labels but that should not be an issue. Its so frustrating, I think I got bad printer and I have to return it to eBay.

I received my LP2844 printer. Looks and works great. My printer has ethernet (an important feature for me). When I print the Print server information page, it shows an IP address that is not mine. How can I reset the IP address of the printer?

@@thecollegepicker his instructions said make it default printer. I did not want that. My default is my 8.5 x 11 printer. I knew I would have problems with that if I chose it for default.

You can turn the settings up for darkness under preferences.

Hi, there is a setting on windows I need to make the tutorial on this. Its an auto calibration feature that can be adjusted.

I really like the video. I set my lp2844 up exactly like this. 4x6 in printer preferences and 4x6 on ebay. It formats the test label fine but every time I actually buy a label the printer preferences for the lp 2844 change to 4.88x11 and it prints out very small sideways on the 4x6 label. Any idea how I can fix this? Thank you
Hi, You are not the first person this to happen to. We think It's a glitch in eBay, pirateship prints fine. Lots of people having this problem right now with eBay only. It has to be on their end. You are not crazy!

It's all printers because it's on their end. It's a file thing not a printer thing if that makes sense. Check out pirate ship eBay integration with 4x6 and youll see it working dandy.
My labels are tiny how do i make them full label size?

The download file I have says zpl.file but I want to print a zpl2 file. Will this instructions work too if I just change the width and height from the printing preferences and set it to 4x6?

Yeah they all work. I personally don't like the cutter. More moving parts that may fail
I'm having the same issue as Marissa. It's due to the printing preferences refusing to go to 4 in width. If you try to enter 4, it automatically refills as 2.99 before you can click apply. The length goes to 6 no problem. It also won't let the Unprintable area all be set to 0. It has the left and right set to .42 and .36. Any ideas?
Actually, solved. I uninstalled it and went through the setup again and when you get to the Zebra Setup Utilities where it displays installed printers, you click Configure Printer Settings and change the printing preferences there. I think it's a matter of it being an updated version of the program that sets the paper at a weird default unless you change it there first.

I have LP 2844 but it only has a serial or parallel plug. How would would I got about installing it to windows 10? I try following all the steps but the USB option on the port won't show up. I been trying to use the Serial USb but it won't pop up.
I'm not really sure, maybe a parallel to USB converter or selling that one and getting a USB one. Sorry I wish I had experience with that specific data port đ

@@thecollegepicker window 10, yes. Refurb working condition. 3 hours later and I finally got it to work. Hooked to USB on laptop and it worked instantly. Hooked back to main PC and no go. So I moved it to diff USB ports. Eventually I found one it liked.

Your printer has to be on. Green button on printer needs to have green light. Exit and come back into install. it should now be there under usb001. Just in case anyone needs help.

Armand P. Hello there đđŸ. Make sure the usb is connected. I had to go back to my downloads. So basically reinstalling for it to appear. You have to go back a few steps( to the beginning) to get back to usb001 or usbport. If you reinstall it again just do it as brand new printer do not go back to the same printer. Keep printer on with green light when you go back and reinstall. Thatâs the step right before the usb selection. If you get it right you should see printer 1 and printer 2. See if that works. Thatâs all I remember hopefully it makes sense đ
@@_evelling_ Thanks for your help, unfortunately that still did not work for me. Maybe there was something wrong with the USB port. I ended up buying a parallel port to USB cable and i was able to get it to communicate with the PC that way.

Do you still have the Zebra setup utilities installer? I need it and cannot find it. The newest version does not work on Windows 10 or 11. Fresh install and the printer fails to print, cannot even send commands to it from the utilities to do test prints.

Thanks Eric for this! I picked up a Eltron 2442 at the thrift for $2, bought a USB / Parallel connector for $6 off eBay, ordered free labels from UPS. Iâm set for life. Didnât know if this driver was going to work but it did. I was searching online if zebra LP2844 was the same is Eltron 2442 but couldnât find anything. The only thing is that it is not as crisp. I cleaned the printhead with rubbing alcohol which helped a little. Any other ideas on how to improve crispyness? I also changed darkness setting to 15 (max) and (1) to slow speed. Thanks a bunch!

@@thecollegepicker Jumping in on this old conversation to ask if it's suggested/normal to change the Win10 print settings for the LP2844 to a darkness level of 15. It defaults to 7, which was far too light. Is this indicative of a bad/worn thermal head, or is it normal to have to tweak these settings a bit? Lastly, do you turn your unit off (the switch on the back and not the illuminated button, right?) in-between uses, or do you leave it on at all times? Beyond that, my unit is working beautifully and I love it!

Just got one of these and I hate it whenever I try to print shipping labels just a black line prints out. I replaced the print head and calibrated it but it just keeps printing the black line
Sounds like somebody sold you a dud đ or your driver's aren't installed correctly, but most likely the guy didn't test it properly. Sorry to hear that.

So , I clicked next to 8x11 â link and changed to 4x6â but the instructions still appear on the label and it doesnât give me an option to uncheck that part .

Hi! You can send commands to your printer from your software, i've got the command from Zebra and it should all be pasted in the following order, all in the same "text" or what you will call it. Not 1 and send, 1 and send and so on.
This is the command:
^XA
^MFn,N
^JUS
^XZ
, if you have a windows computer and the software, you can go to "configure printer settings", when you are on the "advanced settings", select "media feed options" and set that to "no feed", that worked for me.

If you have the UPS exclusive version I think it originally had proprietary software. If you're like me and didn't realize it was its own model, Seagull Scientific/ Bartender drivers work ok.

I followed this video step by step. My lp2844 is now printing random symbols and characters. Do you have any advice? Running windows 10
Is it printing symbols when you send a print job to the printer? Is the printer a real lp2844 or a different model, double check the driver installed. Maybe try to do a hard reset on the printer also if you got it second hand.

Update!!! After a hard reset, calibration and re installing drivers of many flavors I deleted everything, ran the installer one more time. Did it by the book and no dice! Wasnt until I turned my pc off, out of frustration and came back to turn it back on did it work for me. Lol

ok so iâm having problems printing my label. My friend sends me labels from usps so i have the pdf file and the link. however it has the page that says cut here on the dotted line. How do i crop that picture so just have the label?
That's a different problem. Your friend needs to change the formating settings wherever they are buying postage from to 4x6 to save you time. Otherwise snapshot in adobe pdf viewer.

Your power supply probably isn't giving it enough juice. Check the volts/amps on the bottom of the printer and the power supply one also.
