The closest thing to a genetically modified 'blue' rose actually looks more mauve or lilac in color. The gene required to create a blue pigment does not exist naturally in roses. And it isn't exactly impossible to dye a white rose red either. So...maybe not such a small nitpick

      Aracnids (spiders and scorpions) belong to the "Arachnid" Class. True Insects belong to the "Insect" Class. Millipedes and centipedes are different Classes, but I do remember they belong to the same "Subphylum", which I remember translates to "Many Legs" because, well, they have many legs.

      The theory goes that the removal of poisons superefective nature on bug types to reflect the real world, where the over use of pesticides leads to the species resisting or becoming immune over several generations. As the ones susceptible to the poison die and the individuals less affected go on to reproduce and build up the speacial immunity. That's evolution for ya.

    So interesting fact about spider bites. Very few spiders are actually very venomous to humans.
    And the necrosis that was once attributed to spider bites has recently become known to actually come from flesh eating bacteria which live on the spiders themselves and not the venom.

    So, poison is a toxin delivered passively, whereas venom is a toxin delivered actively. {P}oisons are {p}assive. Got it!
    Also, 'hyperkalemia' is literally 'overmuch Potassium,' which is an interesting distinction from generic paralysis... Hey, Gnoggin! Could you make a video on how different Pokémon moves cause paralysis--and maybe how Paralyze Heal might work, and how Limber actually works in combating paralysis? (If you haven't already, of course!)

    • @JamesDavy2009
      @JamesDavy2009 Před 6 lety +2

      Thunder Wave, most other Electric-type moves and Tri Attack all cause paralysis through either ventricular fibrillation or nervous system problems caused by electrocution; Body Slam, Force Palm and Bounce all cause paralysis through a lot of force being applied to the victim's body; Glare leaves the target paralysed through fear; Lick leaves the victim paralysed with disgust; and the powder from Stun Spore is a neurotoxin. I don't know why Dragon Breath and (sometimes) Secret Power causes paralysis, but some circles may say the cause is magical.

    • @chorosso5259
      @chorosso5259 Před 6 lety +1

      secret power im not sure on, but i think dragon breath could cause paralysis from possibly the dragon breath having a toxin in it? it could also be a joke on dragons having bad breath.

    •  Před 6 lety

      Dragon Breath probably paralyses for reasons similar to Lick: Disgust
      For Secret Power: Depends on the area it gets the paralysis effect from, and I do not know enough about every potential cause in each area (Buildings, roads, Link Battles, Electric Terrain, Sky Battles, plain terrain and the Distortion World) to explain that.

    • @MagnakayViolet
      @MagnakayViolet Před 6 lety

      The Limber ability could be due to a specialized nervous system that can change its chemical functions if it detects changes in its body chemistry, like when a danger causes your body to supercharge itself with adrenaline.

      Salazzle is the most terrifying with its real world implications. It releases a neurotoxin that triggers some part of the male brain making them intensely attracted to them regardless of species, even humans can fall under it. At the same time (as far as we know this only accounts for Salandit under her spell) they will be so completely subservient to the female that poisoned them that they will skip out on meals to make sure she is well fed and happy. Like imagine a female lizard that is thirsty like you would not believe pulling you in with her mind altering poison so she can have her way with you whenever she wants and you feeding her even if it means you might go without eating and your poisoned mind can’t even comprehend the fact that this is dangerous to your health.
