Hi Izzy - great video! The version of FCPX that I'm using has a shape mask which helps with making the mask more quickly. Thank you for this video as it was concise and I learned a lot about the animation editor, which I hadn't been using up to this point. This is a real time saver. All the best, Cheers Rick
Hi i have a complex question which i have been at hours trying to figure it out, i miserably failed. i cannot find this on any other video too: How can i do this but blur/rectangle 2 or more objects. When adding another one FCPX doubles the darkness and its basically unseeable, making a literary video, trying to highlight 2 things onscreen simultaneously! But as SOON as i add the next one it becomes 50% more darker, I've tried evening it out such has 20% opacity on one and 20% on the other, but it is still the same. if my wording is confusing, in simple terms if you can make 2 boxes or more at once…… without reducing the opacity so dark its unseeable
Do you also answer questions about cutting & editing? Actually I think my question is more about capturing. Well here: I see you doing instructional stuff and on some of them you are using a cursor with a circle around it that the eye follows. Like this video here. What is a nice free program that will capture what I see and do on the screen.
This is too bad hat FCPX has such a shitty callout functionality where you can't get by without Motion. This is so obvious and so frequent task that a lot of users want to do. Red rectangles are even more crazy. Why can't you draw a rectangle over video? That'd be the best addition to the software.
I could hug you! I've been trying to figure out how to do this with the least amount of drama for like 2 hours. THANK YOU!!!
lol group hug I am thinking the same! SO stoked and so easy!
Thank you SO much! I was wondering how to do it and between Google and your video executed it perfectly in 10 minutes I bet. Aloha!
Thank you so much! This is exactly what I was looking for!
Very helpful! I am a newbie and this was extremely easy to follow!
You know it is a good video when straight to the point and gives you exactly what you need clearly. Super simple thanks to a clear explanation.
YOU'RE THE BEST - thank you!!!
Exactly what I needed. Thanks, and great job explaining as well.

Awesome!
1:33 is image mask the same option?
Does this still work in 10.3.4? I'm not seeing the opacity setting in the inspector. Has that been moved?

This is great! I don't have generator option though :(
I wrote too soon. I found "opacity" under the "Compositing" section.
