  • I have spent almost 10yrs collecting vintage citizen watches. Although I am no professional, I have learned a few things over the years. More importantly, I have learned that these are great watches to check out if you are looking to get involved with some vintage watches. Iconic, reasonably priced, and still perform well (most) for vintage watches. Check out the three in my collection currently, and enjoy!

Great timing. I just serviced and built myself two vintage Citizens, a 67-9011 Bullhead and a 67-9313 Speedy. If you have not checked out the 67-9313, have a look. It was Citizen's answer to the Omega Speedmaster. Very collectible and hard to find in good condition. The cal 8110a is an interesting movement with a ton of functions, but delicate in my opinion. Flyback with column wheel and vertical clutch. John S

Hey, John! My first experience with a vintage citizen chronograph was the speedy. I owned it about 8yrs ago. But it was a little too small for me back then. So I unfortunately sold it. I didn’t think my tastes would have swung (like the industry) to a 39mm. But I really wish I had it. I had it serviced and everything. One of those major regrets in my watch journey. Enjoy it, because you are right! They are very hard to find these days

Thanks for the video Blake! I have an original 8110A octagon in stainless steel with original bracelet and it has a unique design with all those different case edges! Hope you find one. I did find a 512273 all original from a guy in Australia, super beautiful untouched condition but unfortunately he mailed it to me and lost the tracking info and its GONE in the mail for months now, so gutted!!

That would have gutted me too! I love the Octagon Chronograph…my favorite hands down! Bravo!

I love your AD HOC HOROLOGY idea!
    Another GREAT video!
ALSO, you made me miss my vintage quartz Citizen (that I sold a few weeks ago), and made me take my Fujitsubo out of my "For Sale" box & wear it.
    You're a bad influence, man. 😂

i always enjoy your videos, you're doing a great job! always filled with interesting tidbits and as always interesting watches. most people feel like just stating specs but these sort of more subjective and passionate videos are always better.

Thank you for the video, Blake.
I just discovered the model 51-2273 yesterday for the first time and am more and more fascinated by this watch with each passing hour.
These are very beautiful vintage divers.
I would like to buy one, but there aren't that many available to buy anymore and unfortunately when they do, they are often too expensive.
The 150m challenge diver almost always costs at least €1000 and more here in Germany.
    That's why I would rather buy a 51-2273.
Do you know if there are still parts for these watches, like glasses, inlays and stuff like that?
Thanks again for the video and best regards from Germany, C.D

They are fantastic pieces! So the crystal is the same as the challenge diver. As far as internal parts, you may have to find a donor. Good luck and there are some out there! You just have to hunt for them a little! 👍

They are cool, like that they're typically smaller

Cool collection. Do you know all these old movements are using all metal or they also has plastic parts inside them? Reason I ask is plastic doesn’t age well and it will be difficult to find replacement parts.
    Thanks for sharing this

    • @threehandhunter
      @threehandhunter  Před 5 měsíci

Well these are all 40-50yrs old. I have not ripped one apart in years. But the only plastic could be the movement holder. Not 💯 sure. I’m sure someone else has a better answer than me
