- Mention the words ‘weight loss’ and you can certainly spark a debate. Everyone seems to have their own favorite method. But unfortunately, it’s a process much like a yo-yo.
In today’s video we’ll explore 9 bad habits that may be keeping most people from losing that weight and keeping it off.
1. Eating before going to bed
Most likely, we eat late at night because it’s a habit - not because we are hungry. If you were to keep track of all you ate at bedtime for one week, you may notice a pattern. You may be consuming something sweet and high in calories. If you feel you must eat something, select a piece of fruit.
2. Sleeping poorly
Keeping a set sleep schedule should enhance your sleep. If you don’t have any set time to go to bed, your body’s chemistry may get out of synch.
This creates hormonal imbalances that trick you into believing you will only be satisfied if you eat.
3. Eating while distracted
Flopping down on the couch to watch TV after a long day can be relaxing. But before long you may begin to snack without even paying attention to what you are consuming. The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition conducted a study that revealed distractions result in a person eating 50 percent more calories. Just make sure the next time you sit down with your laptop or tv that snacks don’t mysteriously join you.
4. Stress and anxiety
These two words can be your worst enemies. They can increase your weight and disrupt your quality of life. When we experience these feelings, we are confronted with “emotional hunger.” When this strikes, we tend to eat more. Our immediate urge is to relieve this distress by eating sweets or junk food.
These are indeed serious issues, but if you must eat, try to first consume a piece of fruit with water or tea.
5. Eating quickly
Our generation is always in a hurry. We are a mobile society and eat on the run. Often, we don’t take time to properly chew our food. If we did, we would be more satisfied by feeling full. It generally takes twenty minutes to eat, if we chew each bite slowly.
6. Being sedentary
If we lived in the wild west and rode horses and walked more, we wouldn’t fall victim to a sedentary lifestyle. This is one of the major factors in the global epidemic of obesity. When we sit, we eat. Then fat begins to creep around our midsections and we aren’t so eager to get involved in physical activity.
Make it a goal to avoid too much idleness and you’ll be able to shed those pounds easier.
7. Skipping breakfast
If we don’t manage to grab something on the way out the door to work or school, we may just skip breakfast entirely. Most dieticians and health care professionals agree that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Our food in the morning activates our metabolism. And once that switch is turned on, it tends to stay powered up all day. Without a good metabolism rate, it’s nearly impossible to burn calories. Your first meal of the day should include proteins, a small portion of a healthy fat food, and combined complex carbohydrates.
8. Excessive salt
An accumulation of salt isn’t good for your weight, but it can also cause fluid retention. When there’s too much fluid, this may have a negative impact on your blood pressure. If flavor is what you are looking for, try other ways to spice up your meal.
9. Not consuming enough liquids
Our kidneys, among other organs, have difficulty functioning properly when they don’t have enough water. For one thing, toxins can accumulate. To stay hydrated, experts suggest drinking at least 2 liters of water daily. This will lead to better elimination of waste and also prevent excess fluid buildup. One way to stay hydrated is to drink tea or natural juices. Consuming carbonated beverages is not a good source of fluid. This will only lead to weight gain because of their high levels of sugar.

Kitty Cat Sweetheart no-one can skip breakfast. RoniVoni is right. The word breakfast is simply the time you Break-Fast ( break your fasting). So even if the first time you eat is 12pm and technically it's "lunch time", it's still your first meal of the day after you fasted.

So,
1. Finish your last dinner (dinner) at 19:00. [choose food to fall asleep: unsweetened (or sweetened) lime tea, milk, peanuts, onion (with lettuce salad), shrimps]
2. Sleep / rest long enough[: lie down at 22:00 (easy to fall asleep if you give 10 minutes to a walk outside, a shower, remembering happy events over the day, relaxing with 3 deep breaths, visualization at will]
3. Associate meals only with a familiar environment[: family, natural landscape or ambient music]
4. Eat in at normal speed, chew food well
5. Move a lot, and if you have an office activity, make frequent breaks, or at least gently twist/ move your neck, backs, arms and legs
6. Drink water at will. [In the morning, drink 1/2 liter of water (with lemon juice) -> break -> 2-3 fruits -> another break ->] breakfast: protein, healthy fats, whole grains / whole bread
8. Do not add salt, but rarely [and then marine salt, raw or at least iodine. Many foods (as meat) already contain salt]. For taste, use spices, instead.
9. Drink water whenever thirsty [and in the morning between meals and 1/2 hour before bedtime (but also when you have been drinking tea, coffee, fruits (and other diuretics)].
[10. When you have something sweet, eat whole, fresh, organic, raw fruits before eating. After the fruit, take a break, and then eat]
[11. Eat until satiety, as soon as you are hungry, 3 meals a day, choose what you want, between fruits, vegetables, whole cereals/ whole bread, cheese&milk, meat, sometimes dark chocolate or similar]

Dr. Berg here on CZcams says you should only eat when you are hungry. If you're not hungry during breakfast time, you shouldn't eat. Otherwise, I agree with everything else. Good video!

breakfast is believed to be so important for weight loss because most people find it easier to eat less throughout the day when they had breakfast. if they skip breakfast they are more likely to "treat" themselves because they feel like they haven't eaten enough.
intermittent fasting does work well for a lot of people. but that is because it only works for the type of person that doesn't mind fasting. yes, you are rewarding yourself with alot of food, but it also means not eating for longer periods and not everyone feels comfortable doing that.
at the end of the day we are all different. so it makes sense that different "techniques" work for different people.

I eat healthy 99% of the time. But every once and a while I can have a treat. I know most of these facts already, I've been getting into shape since the beginning of this year and it's really working. I haven't been this in shape since I was a kid and I'm only 15.

Skipping breakfast could be advantageous. Intermittent fasting is a great weightless as strategy. This involves keeping your body is a fasted state unit you are hungry and break the fast at that time. The recommendation is 16 hrs of fasting including the 8 hour sleep time and an 8 hr feeding window which ends at least 2 hours before bedtime.

My morning starts around 4 am... and I have literally no time to eat in the morning.... I usually have my first meal around 8.30 or 9.00 am, because I am on the clock and on my feet for 8-10 hours a day. I am also type 1 diabetic since I was 10 years old, so I keep my blood sugar under control via movement, not eating. I always carry glucose tablets with me, for those moments I get low blood sugar. I think every person has individual approach to their health and weight. I find movement is what helps me shed fat the best. I am also huge fan of all kinds of veggies, so I don't mind eating them at all. I also love eggs and sea food and in general- I am not picky when it comes to food. I find the most important thing for me is getting enough exercise and proper sleep pattern-rest will fit in eventually as my body gets used to new way of life.

I do need to exercise more, but I only have a small snack at breakfast and milk coffee. Most of the time I skip breakfast though. :/

I slept through breakfast and lunch a few times. Lol I slept in till 2 pm in the afternoon one day. And a few days ago I missed breakfast and lunch but I woke up at 12pm and I just went onto my iPad and watched CZcams.until it was snack time which is at 3:30
