    Just put in the NBA tax system. For examples sake, assume PL clubs total revenue for a year is 10bn. If the long term aim for UEFA is 70% cost ratio, use 7bn as the marker. Divide by 20 clubs means 350m tax line for each club.
    Every club has the option (but not the obligation) to go over the 350m threshold. But for every £ that is spent beyond it, a further £ is taxed on the club. The total tax funds are then distributed to every team that didn't pay any tax. Some of it can also be sent further down the pyramid.
    This way, you can still entice more money into the league, you don't place a cap on ambition and the smaller paying clubs have an increased benefit making things more sustainable. No points deduction cases and arguments. People get to run their own clubs however they want. If teams want to "buy the title" they can try, but in doing so it not only gets more and more expensive but they directly finance their opposition too.

    • @Kyleterp1
      @Kyleterp1 Před 27 dny

      NBA luxury tax has a soft cap number that every team follows and tv money is equally distributed. Clubs need to step up and not pay the agents. That wil help out with this outrageous spending

    • @JP-Esq
      @JP-Esq Před 27 dny

      @@Kyleterp1 indeed, the NBA does have a soft cap, and then has two separate tax levels (called "aprons"). Teams require exceptions to spend over the cap. The salary cap is a non starter though for the Premier League as European competition would be hurt (the NBA being a closed league this doesn't matter for them.)
      No need to have the very complicated cap part though, just introduce the luxury tax section. If the Saudis (for example) want to spend £5bn in a season, fine. Itll mean more money for nearly everybody else, especially smaller clubs, the very thing the current psr rules are intended to protect.

    • @galazore
      @galazore Před 23 dny

      Sounds all well and good, but we're talking about actual NATIONS owning clubs. They'll happily pay the tax and do it again next year, while smaller clubs will be lagging just as far behind, if not more. Players prices will skyrocket even more. The fucked up when they allowed state owned clubs, and allowed unchecked spending to begin with.

The top 6 generate about 80% of all TV revenues yet receive an equal share with teams that generate next to nothing. Do you think that Kompany is trying to do the same thing as Ange P, that is, being headstrong on a specific style/culture at the expense of playing the same brand of football most other teams play? Both managers have a lot of faith and had success with their methodologies but once you go to the next level (i.e. the EPL) they need the next level of player to carry on their philosophy - that takes a few transfer markets to implement. I would not be surprised to see Burnley back in the EPL for the 2025/26 season with a stronger squad playing the same style.

    This was all started to prevent clubs disappearing. Seems the best was would be to put the clubs, intellectual property and stadium into a status similar to listed building. Have a board of trustees that can revoke ownership by unanimous vote if the club is in administration. The owners effectively become owners of the rights to everything about the club up until administration allows the trustees to revoke ownership and put the club up for tender without the ownership having any rights or say in the matter. The government did this with Chelsea over abramovic, sot eh same could have been done for Portsmouth years ago and Bury more recently. This would at least have mitigated a lot of the pain and, in the worst case, the winding up of the club.

    Simon bashes Chelsea and their American owners and criticises them for trying to bring in their American ways. Now his brilliant idea for FFP is exactly what they do in the NBA. But the current FFP regulations means the American way does not work as it stands! Having a luxury tax will only help the rich clubs anyway so it will not make the league more competitive. The best way to do it would be to allow every team to spend the same amount of money. That way, players would base their decision on who they want to play for, not just who will pay them the most money. It will also prevent teams like Man City from stock holding players.

    @MrBillUp Před 28 dny

    It's a given Simon Jordan doesn't read these messages but I'll give it a go all the same.
    First and foremost, it isn't 10% of West Ham supporters that are sick of the sight of Moyes, its nearer 75% want him out. A very large majority. Why? Lets list a few reasons.
    Since he has been at the club, he has spent near on £450 Million on players. And what do we have to show for it? The second smallest squad in the league, The second oldest squad in the league. His total waste of club funds buying players and then having to sell them because they do not fit his system, or he just doesn't like them is outrageous.
    His attitude absolutely stinks. When everything is going well, it's all his idea, it's his tactics, it's his personality, its his man management. When everything is going bad, it's the players fault, it's the refs fault, it's the fans fault. In his eyes he cannot put a foot wrong.
    His tactics absolutely suck, or should I say tactic. His ultra low block. 11 men behind the ball in the hope we can keep the opposition from scoring. Hoping on the off chance we can punt the ball up to whoever has the unenviable task of trying to hold the ball up for players to break forward and try to score. When you have a team who can't pass forward for toffee, it is rare this happens. And he doesn't just do this against the big teams, it is every team in the league.
    His small squad he loves to work with. He puts the same 11 players on the pitch every game barring injuries. And when it comes to making subs, he brings the same players on at the same time of the game, with no change of system, or tactic, and it is usually a defensive player, winning or losing. His substitutes or lack of has cost us so many points.
    And lets talk about players he falls out with and refuses to play. Cornet for instance. A great player who upset Moyes, and now can't get a sniff of a game. Even if we need an attacking players on the pitch, nope he brings on a defender to play up the top of the pitch.
    The youth squad, well forget it lads, you're not getting a game while Moyes is in charge. Unless we are down to the bare bones and no way of fielding 11 players. We have one of the very best youth teams in the world, all being wasted.
    And then we have the lack of wanting to work with other members of staff like Tim Steidten. One of the best DoF's in Europe. No Moyes has to be in charge. He wants to write the theme tune, sign the theme tune, play the theme tune.
    This is just a few of the reasons we want him gone. Thanks for the Europa Conference League win Dave. We were the best, and most expensive team in the competition by a country mile, and if we hadn't have won it would have been an absolute travesty. And thanks for the top 10 finishes. That is what £450 Million buys you. Over the 4 year rebuild Moyes has presided over, the team now needs another complete rebuild. No way does Moyes deserve to spend another penny of the owners money.

    Tell clubs they can only spend what they earn and no debt it's quite simple.

    Here is a list of teams west ham have played in Europe last 2 seasons. Viborg, FCSB, Silkeborg, Lanaca, Gent, AZalkmar, Fiorentina, TSC baka topola, Freidberg, Olympics, Friedberg, Leverkusen. Hardly Europe's best is it.
    Moyes in 4 years has spent over 400 million to assemble the smallest and oldest Squad in the league. He plays boring cowardly football, doesn't give youth a chance and flogs the same 12, 13 players week in week out. West ham need a rebuild in the summer he isn't the man to do it.
    Why doesn't anybody talk about Tim Steinten in the media? You know the man that bought Kudus,Alverez and Dino to the club and the man that will be in charge of our rebuild its like he doesn't exist. 🤔. Moyes fan boys the lot of you.

    The next 5 clubs after City have won 1 league title between them in 20 years. Everyone has money in the Premier league , because of our incredible TV deals. It’s how you spend it. So why add a nation state with unlimited money or a Russian oligarch on top of that? Their motives are create an image of themselves by throwing money at a football team. And dumb fans lap it up but the consequences for clubs trying to challenge them could be fatal.
    The past 20 years have been dominated by Abramovich and Abu Dhabi, the only stop gab was when United had the greatest player of all time who briefly disrupted that from 06/09.

      ?? United missed out on the title in 2010 by a point, won it in 2011, missed out in 2012 on GD, and won it in 2013 with a record amount of games to spare.. United being so good was down to far more than the SECOND best player ever.. They were 2 results away from winning the league 7 years in a row.

      @@Primitive01 but they still lost to Abramovich and oil money in 2010 & 2012. And if you remember correctly, United was shocking in 2011 and 2013 , those four years from 2010-16 the Premier league wasn’t that strong and it culminated with “Leicester” winning the league in 2016. And the nation state returned like theEmpire in Star Wars and spent another £500m, and hired the GOAT
      And here we are today.
      Football has been declined since the end of the noughts. Just look at international where’s the great Italian players? Where’s the great Dutch plays? Where’s the great German players, or the great Brazilian players.
