    Ken, some really great tips in this video. I sure like your approach to problem solving. I have learned quite a bit watching your many videos. Looking forward to Part 4 of the build.

    Ken, Have been watching some of your videos here lately and really enjoy the. I like making toys too, and have made a number of Toys and Joys plans (probably close to 30). I have made the '29 stake side and and also the scraper. I have also made a few changes to some of the plans as I see you do on occasion too. I have made the Kenworth tractors and 3 of the cement mixers with an extra axle and also modified the plans to allow for the booster axle in the back.I will send you a couple of pics if I can figure out how to (will probably have to have my wife do it cuz I am not a whiz on the computer for stuff like that). I am woodendragon2, and don't have an account of my own, this account is for my wife, so it will show as dragonlady. Also really blown away the great big truck video, I have got to get that!!! Keep up with the videos, even though I have been at this for a good while I still learn tips and things from your show, thanks again!!

      Glad to hear that I am still able to provide some tips and helpful methods to you. It just solidifies my thought that, no matter how experienced you are in woodworking, there is always something that you can learn from others. I am constantly learning from other people and it is what makes this hobby remain so fresh and exciting. I look forward to seeing some of the pictures of your models. You can email them to kennye@acutabovewoodworkings.com. Thanks for tuning in.

    Thanks for sharing Ken!! Looks like that build is going to take a mountain of patients.

      You have no idea Dale. Most of these can be the test of even the most patient man. Thanks for tuning in to the show.

    Hey Kenny, another cool video. Love watching.

    Love your videos you have inspired me to try a model truck of my own. Can't wait for the next video. I do have one question. Why not use the band saw instead of the table saw to do most of the small cuts.

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  Před 6 lety

      I actually answered this question on another episode of the show Mathieu, but the short answer is that the band saw will leave very definitive blade marks in the stock and they would need to be sanded out. The parts are small enough that any amount of sanding can distort them from their original size and prevent them from having crisp edges and perfectly square form. With using the table saw, I can minimize the sanding needed to complete the small pieces. Thanks for tuning in to the show and thanks for the question. I appreciate it.

    It's looking good Ken, was a bit confused at 9.30 minutes into the video, when you were talking about a 5/32" hole in the 5th wheel mount. I might be wrong, but it looks like an 11/64" hole, and a 5/32" radius on the top of the mount, to my eyes. :)

      You are 100% right Brian. Thanks for pointing that out. I try my best to preview the show and catch errors like this but even I am not perfect. Hard to believe, I know. LOL. Thanks for tuning in sir and for pointing out my short comings. It's appreciated.

      It is hard enough to make videos and concentrate on what you are doing at the same time, you do a great job, and 99.9% perfection is not bad. LOL

      @acutabove_woodworkings  Před 6 lety

      It's hard to be humble, when you're perfect 99.9% of the time. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

    Not everyone has disc sanders and table saws lol perhaps you should show how to do using the tools a hobbyist is likely to have

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  Před 2 lety +1

      The methods that I demonstrate on the show are merely suggestions Gary. For every process in woodworking there are multiple ways to achieve the same results. While I agree that not everyone will have to tools that I have, I encourage utilizing what you have, just as I have done in this video. Every hobbyist has a different set of preferred tools and there is no specific list to what those tools might be so making a video to your specification is a difficult task. I have been considering making a scale model show using only hand tools and perhaps your comment today demonstrates that there might be an interest for that sort of show. Thanks for tuning in. I hope you were able to take something positive away from the show.

      @@acutabove_woodworkings very much so thanks for the reply just found it aimed at those that have the space to have full workshop and unfortunately we don't all have that luxury I just picked up a wooden ship model perhaps I will film the build using hand tools and post myself

      @@gges1605 I, for one, would love to see that. If you are into ships and into hobbyist woodworking Gary, I have two multi-part series on the channel demonstrating how to make ships in a bottle. No power tools required and it's all done with smaller, hand tools. If you are interested, here is a link to the first part of the second series. It's not as in-depth as my first tutorial but it will give you an idea as to whether or not it is something that you would like. czcams.com/video/OSxXXiTQmuU/video.html

    How many scale models have you built?

      Barb!!!! I wondered where you have been and here you are, back to make a comment on the show. I've lost count of the models that I've made but it is probably in the neighbourhood of about 20 or more. They are very time consuming but they are a lot of fun and a challenge as well. Thanks for tuning in. Glad that you are back to comment on the show.

      For the most part, the entire model is made from Poplar. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
