    Ken, looking great. I am enjoying this build. I really like your small part cutting jig, I can see one appearing in my shop in the near future. Looking forward to part 3.

    I've been building this truck for a while now. I do a bit stop and go do another project. I don't think I have done anything on it for a few months now. I'm up to the engine block and cab etc, will be interesting to see how you do the door detail. I'm also in the middle of build a workbench, the same as yours. I was going to do a Roubo style but after seeing your videos and emailing Bob Van Dyke I decided on the cabinetmakers workbench and ordered the plans from Lee Valley. The vise I had to get locally (not veritas) as shipping to New Zealand is rather expensive. Can wait for the next video, really appreciate the time and effort you put into your videos. Thanks again.

      Thanks for the kind words Ian. It sounds like you are a busy guy. I like to have more than one project on the go because then you have options if you aren't necessarily into working on one, you can change over to another. Good luck on your model and your workbench builds and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask and I will do my best to help you out if I can. Thanks for tuning in

    Some great tips for working with tiny pieces, especially the tablesaw jig. As for the guy on the lathe, don't be too hard on him, we all make mistakes. :)

    Thanks for doing a model build Ken, I've admired the plans for these but always feared I would end up buying too many of the pre made small parts to call it woodworking and end up just doing a wood assembly. I'm glad you are showing how to build some of these. I'll put one of these plans on my todo list.

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  Před 6 lety

      Let's set something straight.....the only parts that are available for sale, are specialty things like the wheels, steering wheels and that sort of thing and if that is the way that you want to make your model, then so be it and it makes you no less of a woodworker than what I am. Woodworking isn't about being a brilliant master and making everything by hand....woodworking is about getting into the shop and making something out of wood and enjoying what you do. It's about pride in your work and having fun while you are learning a skill. Woodworking is just that....working with wood and if you feel the need to purchase some of the pre-made parts, then that is just fine. It's your project, do it your way. Jump in the ring and start one of these and I promise you, you wont regret it.....pre-made parts or not. Thanks for tuning in.

    I know you make these types of videos a lot but keep in mind that even though you have already shown a particular way to cut something or layout something doesn’t mean that people have actually seen you do those cuts or layouts and in some cases can confuse people who don’t see all of your videos

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  Před 10 měsíci

      You make a great point Paul. I will do my best to incorporate all cuts on the next build series. (which may be coming soon). Thanks for tuning in and for chiming in with your suggestion.

  • @JimLambier
    @JimLambier Před 6 lety +1

    I'm enjoying watching this series. I'm curious why you choose to use the table saw to cut the small parts rather than your bandsaw.

    • @acutabove_woodworkings
      @acutabove_woodworkings  Před 6 lety

      For most of the parts Jim, in order to get them to look right, they require a crisp edge and getting a crisp edge on a bandsaw (without getting any blade marks in it) is next to impossible in this case. Then you would have to sand the marks out, which changes the shape, size and squareness of the pieces. I've just never been a fan in this case. The table saw give a very clean cut with a very crisp edge that requires little sanding. I hope this helps and answers your question. thanks for tuning in.

    Are there any CZcams channels that you can recommend who also make scale model vehicles (not toys) and various builds that would be great toys.
