As a driver for 40 years out on the road I appreciate the detail in the woodworking I just got in and I made my first truck and trailer for my grandson and he just thought it was the greatest thing in the world and people were astonished on how I made it so I'm really getting back into this and wanting to learn more and thank you for the great work that you do

  • @alittleofthisandalittleoft2514

This makes me happy to see! As a carpenter, I was in Windsor Plywood (near the fair grounds), with one of the great guys that work there. We were discussing detail in furniture making, when he said, "Come over and check out this guys work!" Rick, happened to be there picking out some wood. The worker had him get out his phone and show me some of his projects. I was in 'AWE', as these were not your typical "Wood Toys"! He was very quiet and humble. I asked if he's ever been on the news or TV, and he said, "No. I just do this as a hobby. People see work I've done, then ask if I could make one for them." I told him about PBS's 'NW Profiles', and asked if he would care if I contacted them. He was unsure at first, but then said, that'd be fine after I told him people like me who appreciate great craftsmanship would love to see your work, I even kiddingly said "You OWE it to us...!" Let me say, because he was so quiet and "HUMBLE", it made me like him even MORE! He doesn't even have a website I could check out! Thanks PBS for shining a little light on another great NW Artist!!

Sure celebrate a guy with a good imagination doing what he loves and finding a way to monetize it but don't pretend like these are toys for children to play with. This is an ad for an artist making art high end art pieces for wealthy or at very least well to do grown (likely retired) collectors who will use them as show pieces. I would bet the vast majority of ppl who buy this stuff never lay a finger on them except maybe when they rearrange their display.

R Brophy so what’s wrong with that? Celebrating a master craftsmen for his beautiful craft??? Did you hear the part where he will give some away and lower the price significantly? Do you have any idea of the man hours put into this? You’re not paying for some wood, you’re paying for His imagination and his willingness to put in the time. He is in his right to charge several hundred dollars for these. The fact that he’s backlogged shows there people who truly appreciate quality art. If you want “toys” go to Walmart. These are heirloom quality wooden toys. He deserves whatever attention he gets. Don’t you think it’s well deserved? You don’t think it’s at the very least worth mentioning??? Honest craft, hobby, deserves respect.
