Here we are again, completing our maiden voyage sail to Long Beach!
It wouldn't have been possible without the help of Ben; we wish we had more footage to show what a fantastic time we had, but hopefully in this video it comes across what a great sailor and person he is. We were so lucky to have him with us!
This is the end of Season 1, but not the end of our journey by a long shot. Next season we will begin to refit the boat, so she is ready to cross the Pacific and bring us back home to Japan!
Here's the link to Ben's Podcast: outthegate.podbean.com
He also has a Patreon page, in case you wish to support his platform (we are each other's Patreons, hehe).
And here's the interview he recorded during the passage: outthegate.podbean.com/e/tyle...
If you would like to contribute, we do have a Patreon with several donation options on a per-episode basis. On our Patreon, we share more behind-the-scenes content and also send out cool custom-made goodies to our new patrons. Julia works on these videos full time, so any money we make will be reinvested into Julia's chocolate fund đ€Ł and all the leftover goes straight into the channel to bring better content, more often! But seriously we are forever grateful for your support!

Hey all! Let us know what you would like to see more of, and we will try to improve a little each episode. We are still finding our stride with storytelling and editing. There wasn't much footage to work with for this first season, so it was a fun challenge. Coming up next in season two is our big refit of the boat. We are now about 8 months behind reality, but trying to close the gap before we head back to our Ingrid in December to finish the final touches before we splash. Thanks for all the support and kind words!
Came across your channel today, so I gotta binge watch to catch up.
@@mechanicdave80 Hey Dave! Thanks for the comment! Hope you enjoyed catching up :)
Hello Team Ramona! Thank you very much for sharing this beautiful life project of yours. I thought the two of you, your families and the adventures behind the sailboat were wonderful. My name is Barbosa, I'm Brazilian and I have an ongoing project to acquire my boat and travel around the world without rushing and live aboard. I found some very interesting points in your story that coincide with mine. I live alone, I don't have a wife or children. I want to leave ordinary life in big cities and metropolises with large urban flows and go to the sea. I was raised by my grandmother who I loved very much and she died in 2015. I'm going to put her name on my boat in honor and it will be âVOVĂ BELA!!â I'm going to buy the boat in England. Look for a boat with sizes between 44 and 60 feet. I want three cabins to make one my bedroom, the other I will make an office and the third will be a room to receive friends if they show up. I will work from home. I'm going to set up an office and a radio communication table as I'm also an amateur SSB, HF, VHF, UHF, engraving radio amateur. First I want to prepare this boat in my own way and make it beautiful and fully equipped to be self-sustainable in water and electricity. I'm going to set up a laboratory because I work with scientific and technological research. After everything is ready, I want to sail throughout Europe and the Mediterranean. Then cross the Atlantic and cross the Pacific. I want to do the Coast of Africa and do the mares from Thailand, Japan, Okinawa, etc. I'm still torn between a sailboat and a Trawler. I'm studying this a lot and selling several boats. I watch all your videos and wait for your next one, okay? I hope one day we can meet somewhere on the planet in humid waters. I wish you all the success in the world and that you can always sail with good winds. Best regards, Barbosa.
Loved this episode (like all the others)
Ingrid /"Ramona Rae" looks really nice and solid.
You two are doing a remarkable job on the storyline and the information you include in those stories.
Really well done. Looking forward to season 2
First like first comment! Thank you! We'll push hard to get season 2 started. Might take a couple more weeks to get a style / rhythm going, as they are so different. stay tuned!
You're better at this than you think... You both come across as real people on a beautiful yacht... What else is there that matters...Keep it real and you will do well on youtube...
Thank you! And also thank you for always giving us positive words of encouragement. It's a lot to consider when trying to make engaging videos, but stay true to ourselves. We'll keep hacking away at it :)
Great! I purchased my Ingrid in Moss landing then sailed her down to Channel Islands. Your right about reversing.. I use a tiller pilot, not that expensive, easy to install. Got a Monitor last year.
Great work! Love your channel!
Damn. I'm a bit ashamed for not seeing this until now. But this is great! Your videos get's better every time. And Julia's animations really add extra personality to it. Quite inspiring! :) Looking forward to see videos from your crossing!
Love you guys and your story Fairwinds
Thank you! We finally have another episode coming out soon. Thanks for sticking with us!
I had the pleasure to meet Julia, I hope I spelled it correctly, and Tyler in Alamitos Bay California. They are a lovely young couple and I wish you fair winds and following seas on your voyage to Hawaii and on to Japan. I am subscribed and will be looking forward to upcoming episodes.
Best wishes

Great going guy's - always good to see your progress. What a nice milestone! And thanks for subscribing to my channel! I'm on a parallel journey albeit a very different destination - Arkansas. Yup
Thanks! You too! We'll keep following your journey to Arkansas as well. đ
great vid!!!! love the storytelling! moooore!
Thanks David! We have NO IDEA how you and others can pump out quality videos once a week or anything near that. But we have been working in the background, new one is coming soon!
We loved the new video. It was so cool seeing the Ingrid sailing! We can't wait to see you start the refit. Yay season 2!
Thanks guys! We also felt very nostalgic editing all the sailing footage. Can't wait to get her back to sailing! But yes, some refit first >
Love your videos!! Great season guys!!! Canât wait to watch the next one.
Thanks so much!! We are diving into the upcoming episodes already :)
The more I watch your series, the more intereting and excitment I find! Cheers for your continuous challenge and also life in Japan! It's getting cold, so please take care for two of you!
Glad you like them! Kito is getting cold so quickly! In a flash, summer is gone! >
Ingrid appears firmly in the â60s I suggest two new furlers and an autopilot and wind vane. Lengthing the dodger with solar panels and going lithium. FYI those masts you have , while fine have issues with wear at gooseneck. Fair Sailing
We have autopilot / windvane already in the works now. Hard dodger top is also in our thoughts. We appreciate the insight about the masts as well. We know she's and old dog, but we like her. cheers!
So glad i was able to catch this beautiful but nerve wracking episode. Love both your commentary.. and your boat is Sooooo beautiful. Love it from Sprit to pointy stern...( does it handle better ia following sea as i would imagine?) Love the hull and bottom color.. It was nice to see it out and on the Strip as thry say in Cal i think? But i admit i wouldnt relax until the whole ordeal was over safe and sound at moms.đ
Thanks for the kind comment! Nerves were high for sure! But she did make it there safely (spoiler? lol) We will be moving into the refit videos soon, but first we have a couple fun episodes in the works. She sailed amazingly, and the following seas didn't seem to phase her at all. Not sure if it's the pointy stern. As with most things there seems to be various views on the subject. But we like her unique look and how she sails.
I enjoyed this, just found, subscribed. I also dream of sailing to Japan.
Thanks for joining! I think you will like our next episode. We do a little sailing in Japan before we get back to our refit.
I watch CZcams videos all the time
I've seen it all
I'm looking forward to Season 2 too.
I'll go to the Kito againâš
Thank you Mai! We will keep working hard to keep the videos coming :)
Nice x
Thank you! Cheers!
Super cool website. It got me more interested in visiting Shikoku one of these days. I'm also interested to see how you will be promoting Kito Yuzu! Maybe you could give us a tour of an orchard or even highlight some recipes. Albeit, not sailing content but a unique view of Japan.
Thank you! Did you find our website through the description? We are planning to talk about it more soon. We might do a few 'bonus' episodes before we get back to season 2. Show Japan a bit more, maybe even sailing here? We are exploring ideas on how to best promote Kito, without taking away from the sailing aspect. Let us know if you come visit Shikoku!

Yes! It was smart to put the website in the first few lines of the description so itâs visible even if you donât click âread moreâ.
I think sailing in Japan (the doâs and donâts, how it compares to other regions) would be nice to see since there isnât that much English content.
Another great video. Well done. So you were allowed to fly a drone over the port of los Angelos?
Nope! We just did a little Google Maps editing!
Since I just found your channel, I was hoping âweâre doneâ didnât mean you were finished with Sailing. I had to watch to find out & since itâs not âThe Endâ, Iâve subscribed. It was a great video and fun too.
Hey there! Thanks for joining our journey! We have another episode finally coming out soon.

Great series. Im glad your dad introduced me to your channel. If you ever come to Georgia to visit your dad, I would like to meet yall.
Thanks! Will do! Hopefully we can make it there when we get back early next year. Would love to meet as well!
1st time viewer. The country song and the storytelling sucked me in. Good transitions. Endearing couple. Solid comedy/drama quotient. Subscribed!
Wow! Very kind words! We are trying to improve each upload. Thank you for joining us! I'm glad to hear we have "solid comedy", It's mostly just us fumbling through it all!
full rudder and short bursts of full power and you can go astern any direction you want. Great way to overcome prop walk
Great advice, thank you! After sailing our boat down the coast, I did look into our options for maneuvering in tight spaces. I found some people using the method you mention. We have pretty good momentum once we get going, so I'm sure that would work well. Definitely going to give that a try. When we took the boat to the lift, we did use warps to leave the doc, also worked quite well for that particular situation.
Great video,i m also going to buy "ingrid 38" will be very informative and pleasure to keep your videos watching...thnks
great to hear! Where are you going to purchase and sail her? Maybe we can cross paths.
