We (Julia and Tyler) found eachother in Japan. We now purchased a classic ingrid 38 full keel double ender ketch (that's a mouthful) in California, which we will sail back to our home in Japan.
If you would like to contribute, we do have a Patreon with several donation options on a per-episode basis. On our Patreon, we share more behind-the-scenes content and also send out cool custom-made goodies to our new patrons. Julia works on these videos full time, so any money we make will be reinvested into Julia's chocolate fund 🤣 and all the leftover goes straight into the channel to bring better content, more often! But seriously we are forever grateful for your support!

Ahoy, JAPAN! We find an UNEXPECTED haven for cruisers on a small island
We finally take a sail in Japan with some friends, while our boat waits for us in California. We wanted to get right into season two, refining our Ingrid 38 sailboat. But we had a few great sailing trips during our time back home in Japan, so we thought it would be fun to share a bit with you all!

This time we are head to Yuge Island with our great friend and inspiration, Lowell Sheppard. We had heard so much about it, but didn't expect to find such a magical place.

We finally make it to the U.S. to begin our next chapter together. We were quite overwhelmed by everything that still lay ahead. We found what we need to keep pushing forward, making our first step towards our goal of sailing our boat from my birthplace to our home, here in Japan. This series of episodes will take you along with us, as we meet each other's families, and find the boat that we wi...
Looking for a boat - finding love in Japan | E1

Hello friends! Julia is from Spain, and Tyler is from the US. This is the first of a series of videos, telling the story of the unique "coincidences" that led us to find each other and decide to purchase a sailboat in California despite living in Japan - and all the adventures it has entailed. This series of episodes will take you along with us, as we meet each other's families, and find the bo...
Just came across your channel. We have a later version of the Ingrid 38 - I like to call it “the tanker” in a good sense. Good luck!
Incredible
Japan is a great place and I boat here regularly as a local, however it is not at all foreign cruiser friendly.
Love watching you guys. We are currently planing to travel to japan next year. a huge problem is looming. Nobody wants to insure us. Where are you insured with the boat?
Wtf would you want to go to Africa? Lol
Whose boats were you sailing here?
New to the channel.. looking forward to your future videos. I would like to sail the Japanese islands one day. Learning Japanese now.
Great work! Love your channel!
Wonderful.
wow this is a lot of exploring to do, one of the most beautiful country-Japan. Very informative video, I love how you edit yall's video too. You guys love this extreme adventure, coming from the Philippines, we always experience typhoon, I know how Pacific Ocean is harsh on some seasons, be safe, maybe I will be able to meet yall when you come to Georgia
Damn. I'm a bit ashamed for not seeing this until now. But this is great! Your videos get's better every time. And Julia's animations really add extra personality to it. Quite inspiring! :) Looking forward to see videos from your crossing!
The 飲食しながらの会話はお控えください sign the guy held up at the matsuri was interesting. I never saw that anywhere in Japan and it really cracked me up. 😂
I’ve been trying to get my 51 year old boat ready to travel from TX to Japan for over a year now, and I absolutely love seeing this kind of content from there. I feel like you guys revitalized my drive.
I had the pleasure to meet Julia, I hope I spelled it correctly, and Tyler in Alamitos Bay California. They are a lovely young couple and I wish you fair winds and following seas on your voyage to Hawaii and on to Japan. I am subscribed and will be looking forward to upcoming episodes. Best wishes Gary 2001 Catalina 400 MKII
Hi Met you two at Minneys yesterday, Saturday about 4 PM. I’m about the same height as either of you. You were both so nice and I may see if you have a way to contribute to your trip. Mike.
Patiently waiting for many more videos ! From You , Your Goddess, and your good boat!
Thanks for patiently waiting! Sorry for the delay (as always). We had a view all done, but then we had a sudden big change in our life / plans. Can’t go into details on here right now, but we have on our Patreon page through our weekly real-time updates. Either way, we are still sailing (hopefully) soon and in fact, we are attempting to sail our boat directly from California to Japan this year, in one month from now! So a lot going on for us atm. It might be a while before our next proper video, but we promise we have some good stuff in the future. Thanks again for sticking with us!
@@SailingRamona thanks, be safe , have fun , be good , stay happy !
That was great! Very much looking forward to seeing your travels.
Great music selection too!
Your videos keep getting better and better. We love the animation and the drone footage. And we especially love getting to see more of Japan. Cant wait to see what you are working on!
Thanks so much!
hola Chicos, estan bien con el terremoto ?
Love the story telling and editing… but please note at 0:25 you drew the entire Iberian peninsula as Spain. That might be a bit offensive to all the Portuguese people living in the other country on the peninsula!
That is a very good point! Something we overlooked for sure! That was not our intention. We will be more careful from now.
Is it possible to sail in Japan, if the only language you know is English? Are the visa rules conducive for Americans to sail in Japan?
It is totally possible! Let us know if you are considering it, we can put you in touch with someone who can help arrange anything you might need when you cruise in Japan.
It’s a dream of mine to sail in Japan.
Ours too! Well, sail OUR boat in Japan I guess. :)
So beautiful! Thank you for sharing; Japan is on our bucket list and we hope to be sailing there in a few years' time!
You should! And if you do, please reach out to us!
Just found your videos today and had to watch all of them! Thank you for the Christmas present.
Glad you like them! we are working hard on the next one. Don't know how the big CZcamsrs can produce content so fast, we are a bit slower with ours. ><
Yours are better quality than a lot of the bigger CZcamsrs, and they often have more than two people working on them.
It is wonderful the see Japan though the eyes of people that can see the beauty that surrounds you. The positively and love shines throughout the video. The information and entertainment seems to flow remarkably well in all your work. Just fantastic work from both of you. Keep up this work. It's something that could bring more cruisers like yourselves in to see these hidden treasures of Japan. I know I want to.
Thank you!
I really like this channel. Thanks for sharing 😊
Glad you enjoy it! We are so happy with the response we have been getting. Makes all the editing time worth it!
Hola Amigos and "Feliz Navidad"!!! Congratulations on creating another excellent video!! You've definitely sparked our interest in sailing to Japan. It looks like a very cruiser-friendly destination. Here's wishing you both a fantastic 2024 with much health and wealth, fun and excitement, fair winds and flat seas. All the best, Steve and Justyna SV Alaskason
Amami Oshima , it’s magic.
We have yet to go there, but our friend Lowell has, looks amazing.
IPY makes the best boats but they are slow, very slow. But, you feel safe in almost any weather.
I looked at a few of those. They have similar aspects to our Ingrid. But it was just out of our price range.
Great new channel. Keep it up!
Thanks! Will do!
So beautifully shot, and I love those illustrations you added! Now I want to go to Yuge island😂
You should! if you come to Japan, reach out!
Honestly, I'm in love with this small island Yuge Island. Lovely peaceful place to live in. Thanks for sharing. Cheers...!!! 👍👌
It really is! We would love to live somewhere like that someday as well :)
Just had you guys come up in my feed, liked and give you a new sub. We have many friends from Japan and this is one of those places that we want to explore by boat. When I was in the Navy we got to see a giant school of Hammerhead sharks. Thanks for the this video it makes me really want to revisit Japan.
Thank you for your kind comment! Japan really is a magical place. Thanks for watching!
You guys come to Kobe and Osaka
Sometimes, but usually just passing through. We prefer to stay in the rural areas if possible.
My first time watching this channel, very good content and background sounds, nicely Paced, so good to see Japan.
Glad you enjoy it! That means a lot. We often wonder how our videos are received, because we spend so much time editing, we often don't know if it's good or not. lol
Ya'll just came across my recommendations, I'm in, New Subscriber Here! 😃👋
Welcome aboard! Thank you! :D
🇹🇷🇹🇷👍👍
I live in kanagawa, hope to see you guys.
That'd be great. We live in Tokushima when were are not with the boat.
I never knew this aspect of Japan even I live in Seto inland sea----!(What a shame!haha) Thank you for sharing:-)
Still time to be a part of it! :D
Loved it … except for the bits of the old guy ;) lol😂 well done. You are raising the bar
What are you talking about!? Age is only a number, that guy is killing it! hehe. Thanks for helping us out so much Lowell!
could you guys possibly the next Sailing La Vagabonde. great videography animation andhow you met
Not sure about that! But we do our best. Thanks for watching!
La Vagabonde is heading to Japan as soon as they get some work done.🎉🎉
It was rather surreal seeing a yacht from Monterey being worked on, especially the Oriane. I grew up and still live in the Monterey area, and have seen that boat for years just hanging out. Good to know she's found what seems like a good home. I found your channel today, as I was just having a conversation about the potential of sailing in Japan eventually, once my family takes to the waters.
What a small world. Would love to connect and would love even more to take you guys sailing on Oriane (soon to be Ramona Rae) in Japan :D Our email is sailingramona@gmail.com
These videos are always so educational and wholesome! :D
Thank you! Always grateful for your diligent support :D
WOW, Talk about timing, I just started looking for a boat to sail from the PNW to Japan and back, My Son, Daughter in law and there children live in Japan. Thank you for this video, Blessing to you and yours, Merry Christmas.
Awesome! Serendipity! Or the algorithm is paying attention to you 🤣 Japan is a great place. Feel free to reach out, as we will be making the trip to Japan from the west coast of the US on our boat soon as well.
Heheh you should try sailing in UK..we have 6 to 7 metres of tide at springs. We do lots of waiting...
Yeah, very true! I thought about all those double keeled boats beached during low tide when we were making that part of the video! We do have it easy in comparison :)
Repeatedly you show maps with unlabeled bodies of water. Am I supposed to know oceans and seas around Japan based solely on their shape? Do you realize, without labels a map is useless.
Good point. Very true. We will try to add more labels in the coming videos. 👍
Thanks for showing Yuge island, looks nice!
You bet! Highly recommend visiting Yuge if you come to Japan!
We need to see more sailing vloggers in Japan. Japan is a very underrated cruising spot.
100% agree. Lowell at Pacific Solo posts quite regularly. We will try to post more content from Japan. For sure we will post a lot more once our boat is here!
Love seeing Japan. I see why you love it so much and live there.
Hope you guys can visit us someday soon!
