The challenge of an ancient game
Brought glory, glory to your name
Though March winds blew the crowds still came
To watch you gentle hero.
In life's long march you made us proud
And many a voice from out the crowd

And Blackstairs men who saw you then
Still speak of you in awe,
On Carman's green where you had been
They tell of what they saw,
We watched you on September fields
And lightning was the drive
You were the one Cuchulainn's son in 1955.
The hand that held the stick of ash,
And the man who led with style and dash,
Oh! Carrigtwohill once felt the crash
And Bennettsbridge and Thurles.
And when in later life you beat
The devil on that lonely street
You showed us how to take defeat
With dignity and courage.
The last parade was sad and slow
The last oration spoken low
And as, on green fields long ago
The Diamond stood beside you
Old friends they flanked you side by side
And the tears they shed were tears of pride
An ash tree toppled when you died
And scattered seeds at random.

That is just beautiful. I am so impressed with all of the flowers and decorations on these graves. I thought that the younger generation wasn't into decorating the past generations of family members. This gives me hope for the future. Thank you Sue you are amazing. God bless you!

Thankyou for this. It's wonderful to see the beautiful flowers blooming on so many graves. My next door cematory is awash with colour right now. Spending lockdown walking there often was such a privledge and kept me both active and sane.

What an amazing cemetery, so well maintained and neatly laid out. I love the seats placed around so you could sit and maybe chat to your loved one, even if its only inside your head...and yes we all do this at times. Nicky was an amazing sportsman and lovely to see he is remembered, I think nearly everyone was remembered in that cemetery. Thank you Sue, you are doing a great job. 💕🇦🇺

The new graveyards are so beautifully taken care of. The nuns and their stones and memorial so kind.Th black with gold writing gravestones are alot here in America,newer graves. Sad but i guess the writing lasts longer. A beautiful tribute tou Ireland's Nicky.❤😊❤😊
My grandad was such a fan of The great Nicky Rachard, we still have matches here named after him. A tough man. Seeing you comment reminded me of my lovely grandad. He was a treasure to us and raised my mam and uncle on his own, after granny died young. My hero.
What an amazing amount of flowers,shows so much thought, and care for their loved ones , I don't think I've ever encountered a cemetary so full of flowers!
Most of our new cemeteries are like this, not only flowers, plaques, angels etc on graves too

Hey Sue, another great video. This is an amazing cemetery, stunning really. Its interesting how so many of the graves are in such close proximity to one another, and so many of the headstones and memorials are incrediby impressive, to think of the love and effort put into them, a direct reflection of how much these individuals were cared for and loved. The memorials for the Connors and Aunt Mary were just amazing. Thanks so much for the info for Nicky Rackard, I actually hadnt heard of him before. Many sporting accomplishments to be sure, I was sorry to hear about his drinking, though he did help out with AA later in life...a life ended to soon. No one here is forgotten though, whether you mentioned their names or not..all are remembered. Thankx again! :)

Beautiful cemetery.we can’t have our graves set out like this here in the U.K. ,it’s just headstones in tows and most have got to be a regulation size shape etc now which I think is wrong,you should be able to have a bit more choice ,but I guess it makes it easier to maintain the grass.Yet the really old Cemeteries that go back a long way have all the big statues,the tombs etc in.When I lived in Portsmouth that one we went through was really amazing .I loved it . But guess it’s the changing times..Thank you for the Story and the adventure .Love n Light 🥰

Very beautiful & interesting cemetery, I’ve never seen one with all the Little Rock’s covering the graves. With the plots so close together, they must hand dig the new graves. So many flowers & decorations, people are loved & remembered. ❤️

Irish graveyards are really ornate unlike our more plain ones here in Chicago, USA. Shows how people in Ireland remember and never forget their loved ones who passed on.
