A short but exciting career that motor will have 😅
I don’t see much wrong with it. The rev limiter is there to stop damage from happening. It seems the water is hooked up right as well. The 10gpm of a house water supply should be enough to keep it cool and the impeller happy. Outboards actually flow less water than cars because they are constantly getting cold water.
No it wont
The engine isn't getting enough water to cool it. You shouldn't rev an engine more than 2,000 RPMs on the muffs and some outboards you can't run on the muffs
@@trentondennis3125 you can run any engine without water for a bit, the main issue with outboards is making sure the impeller gets water
@samleen not good idea to run without water, water pump can be destroyed
Bouncing an engine off the rev limiter no-load. Brilliant.
That's just stupid😢
It hurts the ears...
It spools up so fast, I'm getting LFA vibes where not even a digital tach can keep up
Mercury Pro XS v8 For Sale...only 6 hours on it!
Lmfao
If any of us did this at our shops... OMG.
This guy probably went to MMI
This is hilarious. I didnt expect to find you here. Lol
Not even 1 hour 😔
LOL
As a marine tech... DONT DO THAT ON EAR MUFFS...
As a second tech...listen to this guys advice ^^
As a retarded chicken never do this to motor period
As a son of a third tech, listen to this guy ^^
As the son of the son of the third tech…, listen to this guy^^
As the son of the guy who’s dad is third tech, listen to this guys advice🖤
Hey dude..let's pull the cowl and blow it up in the driveway...
Lol
They hooked everything up properly, youre just a hater
@@NateColmanthat hose doesnt push near enough water through to rev it like that, and he has the boat in gear instead of revving it in neutral
😂 oh man thats funny. I can just see the beer in his hand when he says that and the crazy look he gets.
I can’t stand to hear rev limiters.
People sure do love hitting the rev limiter in gear and saying "F you" to their water pump impeller...lol
Wait till they put a laptop on that thing and look at the RPM graph
Instant deny on a warranty claim.
Your average speed boat owners IQ demonstrated in a short video
Fishing boat
I have an 1988 Johnson 90hp 2 stroke and I don't do this! After salt water I hook the muffs up and let it idle for 10 minutes to rinse the salt out. Love your equipment and it will love you back!
It’s sad but some people just have enough money to not even care
My grandpa way back in the 60s taught me about treating things like that. Tell me the same thing about doing burnouts on my tires😢😢😢😢
This better not be a customer's boat
Glad that isn't my motor 😂
Mercury Marine Warranty Department had entered the chat:
And they see their rev limiter proudly working just as intended.
This is not as intended...@@Fenndog
@@bcamcam2 yeah it is, rev limiter stops over rev and damage via valves contacting pistons and undue stress on components.
“Working as intended”
Correct while under load, free revving the engine will spin up faster than the limiter can stop it and for a moment the engine will be over revved. And as intended it is a fail safe in the event the prop comes out of the water when hitting wake, not its ok to lay on the limiter on a water hose....@@Fenndog
@@bcamcam2 false, that is exactly why the rev limiter is there it allows it to be in the safe rev zone when it cavitation occurs or no load! It would be an extremely bad design or engineering fault if it was any other way.
That is the worst thing you can do for a motor 😂
not really
The person has the hose hooked up to it and you can see that it is flowing water just fine to keep the engine cool.
Engine motors are electric.
The Prop is over revving@@ryanturner8318
@@JohnProd24congrats u get the second most stupid reply on the short video Darwin award this dude now and the rest of the idiots that agree there is literally a guy that works on boat motor for a freaking living that says that is not good and will either blow up the water pump or head gasket but ur none boat owning or ever even worked on a boat motor
She's not even pissing a full stream! She's gonna blow
Nope it's blowing steam
On god bro
Well he’s testing it out 😅 but honestly yes you’re right! More water for them him RPMs when full throttle she’s getting a few drops instead of gallons of water she’s gonna need a piston soon
It’s awesome seeing motors overheated.
I know it sounds like a vacuum leak but it's glorious! Every stoplight turns into a 🎄
I will bet this was done on the break in period too 😂
Should be titles as, “what not to do when hooked on ear muffs”
The call to the dealer the next day
"I don't know what happened, it blew up as soon as i left the landing and it only had 3 hours on it."
Exactly what not to do.
You should take this down before you need to submit a warranty claim.
The ECM will have that data recorded and I've already seen this on instagram too.
As a marine tech don’t!!! No more warranty!
Why? Everybody in the comments saying that you shouldnt do this but i dont get it. Please explain
@@levs1333the engine picks up water to cool itself from the bottom of the motor where the water line is hooked up. In this configuration with a hose feeding the water, there is only enough water being supplied for the motor to run at idle. With what this guy is doing it will not receive enough water and will not only overheat but will also destroy the impeller in the water pump. That motor probably costs in the $40k range, so this is definitely not a smart play.
@@brillowolf thank you for the explanation
Doesn’t take a ‘marine tech’ to know that.
@@BitsofSkin*loud incorrect buzzer*
The fact that its vaporizing the water into steam and no physical water is exiting the motor upon high rpm’s should tell you, just how bad your fucking it up.
More money than brains, but its okay, the money can fix it.
That motor will be fine
@@rileycox2298 tell me you have no clue abt boats without telling me.
"More money than brains" that is my job security right there.
Testing to see if I can spin a bearing 😂
Am i gone mad or that is the sound of a supercharger 😮
Not this one, but the 450R has one (and is a V8
As a 30 year old boat owner ,,,,even I know not to do this with only ear muffs on it!
I can hear it now.....
Those new Merc 4 strokes nothing but trouble, mine hasn't run right since the day I brought it home.
Well you obviously have money to burn so ....😂
Sounds buttery smooth though
What are you testing? THE SOUNDS IT MAKES.
Just picked up a boat at Pot Nets in Delaware with two of these on it , we took it up to a marina in Cape May , New Jersey , awesome outboards , actually very quiet when your running .
I hate quiet outboards, I love hearing my 225 Evinrude scream!!
Loud motors are obnoxious
Damn, it sounds like a hellcat at idle.
It's a supercharged V8 basically
@@dimmacommunication No
no it does not
BUT SOUNDS LIKE SHIT ON THE LIMITER !
@@Bellcephus1Still sounds better than your Poopra
I had a 3cylinder 75 Evinrude sounded like that was a great engine
Well, that’s not going to last very long. You probably
Burnt up the water pump from doing that on the muffs. And rev limiting it like that can take a lot of hours out of its lifespan
You know it’s called a rev “limiter” right?should I tell you a little secret… it’s called that because it limits the revs to a safe level 😮
@@Fenndog damn now way?! Very "new" information
@@NOTTApro142 you assumptions also not knowing about the engine itself and how a rev “limiter” works it takes no life out of the engine. You look like a simp commenting like that. Water is also sufficient for the short term run and rev.
Words like probably are assumptions not facts.
@@NOTTApro142 czcams.com/users/shortsR4HoRRM-5TY?si=H59uH3TyaUaheM64
@@Fenndognot exactly. It prevents the engine from reving beyond it's breaking point not necessarily it's "safe use" point. The revs aren't the problem it's that it's out of the water so it's not getting as much cooling as it needs for Max rpm.
Dudes lucky it’s got a limiter or it’d be a V-3 real quick.
Guys yall can say all you want" dudes enjoying life to the fullest, also he can afford to rev the dam thing😂
Wheres that merk going...... NO WHERE.... like history!!!
Does it have a supercharger??
Yes
Not anymore 😂
@@yeiferruedas1697no
That impeller screaming as water trickles in
just sayin.... outboards kinda need to be in water to stay cool. sounds awesome but you'll be rebuilding that shortly.
Дедовская лодочная ямаха 84 года выпуска хххэй литит таво рот как вспомню аж мурашки
200k like and he'll put a custom exhaust on it
Good to see they're following the prescribed break in procedures 😂 definitely good for the engine.
A Unic experience for me 😊
Thanks for sharing 👍 😊 😀
Is that thing supercharged?
Yup
No lol
But try and put a car motor on a bicycle and i bet we gonna ask the same thing lol
Its it tho ?
yes
How much power is this thing making? 500? 600? 700HP? It sounds awesome
since its supercharged its probably a 450R
@@rivash8412 cool!
its just a 250 proxs
@@rivash8412 That's a little motor that I don't see a super charger on. Not saying your wrong just saying what it looks like from this video perspective. It does'nt have the prop of a typical 400,500 hp boat either, its small and not aggressive pitched either.
Yep, thats what unloaded outboards love
*The next with a W16 Quad-Turbo ?* 😁🥳
i think this propeller is so small for this power
It's a light boat. Having a larger gearcase and /or larger diameter propeller will simply add drag.
You do understand that a smaller propeller will run faster, don’t you ?
Is that rotor on the bottom exhaust? just asking.
No that’s water shooting out the exhaust it’s right above it like about 2 feet you have to run water so it doesn’t damage it
That would be the propeller. But yes, some of the exhaust comes through the prop.
Mơ ước cả đời.....
That’s a felony!!
Don't EVER let this person test a marine engine again! What a horrible thing to do to anything mechanical...
Good way to burn up the impeller and water pump
true
How?
It’s also a great way to throw a rod and blow the motor up. These things aren’t supposed to hit the rev limiter.
@@UltraMagaFanits the same as a car motor, just because its pushing a boat doesnt mean its weaker, i think people are over reacting
I put my lower unit in a cut down 50 gallon barrel, since i do not have a tachometer & with a hose attachment there is a specified rpm range.
I’m really happy I get to watch YOU do this, it sounds great. Thanks 😂
Before I have only seen deep water tank testing similar to this. Big humongous water tanks with high gallon per second water refilling systems. The tests are run for a short number of seconds at particular rpms to gather specific diagnostic data.
Real rocket scientists at work here!😂😂😂
On the 2 step 😂😂
can someone explain how the lubrication system works on a vertically placed engine
Dry sump
It's super good of you to regulate the amount of water that can get in there. Oh wait maybe not
Please keep it up... (hungry Tech)
I love videos where ppl put their stuff in jeopardy lol
As my ol buddy Jon Baker used to say, “ keep the tach in the black “
Imagine what that would sound like in a car
It would sound exactly the same bruh 😂😂😂😂
All of that just to spin something so small just blows my mind😂
This is how I run every LS engine I get my hands on
Revving up to redline out of the water. Brilliant.
What is this absolute monster of an engine??? It sounds like a hellcat I have never seen such a machine before
Is this supposed to impress? I'm sorry, but boat motors aren't designed to hit the rev limiter like this. You're literally killing it by doing this.
A V8 just to spin that little propeller.seems like overkill
It's not the size of the prop, it's the weight of the boat.
Good times. I had a 2.5L 300 Drag on a Hydrostream V-King. 100+.
Congratulations! You’ve more than likely damaged the motor from over speeding the prop cause it has no resistance/load on it. Watch offshore racing boat pilots, they constantly bring the power right back when the prop leaves the water to prevent over revving.
A few more rev limits away from detonating. 🔧
Any rope around the propeller stops this miracle as any other too 🤣
This guy had a couple of beers 🍻 😂😂😂😂😂
This is some real good red-neckery right here, and a great way to damage, or even blow up an outboard motor. LOL Not smart.
Either way that is one smooth outboard motor!
I hear the dollar signs right out of the exhaust 😂
Really clean design.
A clean engine that probably don’t run with Only 2 hours on the motor dude a freaking idiot or has more money than sense that motor is around rhe 50,000 mark when u buy a boat you really only paying for the motor they kinda throw the haul in for a tree he price of shipping and handling
Imagine if someone tried to put that motor in a buggy 😂
Speeeeeeeeeed and POWER !
Tengo un outboard HONDA 150HP four stroke 150BF year 2006 le hicieron una reparación general y ahora no quiere arrancar. ¿Qué pueda ser?
that thing sounds great! i wouldn’t exactly recommend doing this on muffs tho. They only really supply enough water pressure for the motor at idle. When you rev it up that garden hose does not have enough volume to supply to the motor.
I think i found a new hobby, my wife gona kill me when she gonna find out i’m buying a boat 😂
Oh FK YEAAAAAH! I want 6 of them.
Oh yeah mercury mariner
This guy must have one hell of a sponsor or some really deep pockets
Marvelous engine
Bad for engine, good for ears.
Bravissimo, tutta salute per il tuo motore.
Prossimamente sarà più performante 😂😂😂
The amount of people crying about this is astonishing. It’s a stress test. They’re doing it on purpose. If they’d read the title of the video or the description they could easily figure that out.
thank you for your work I'm a Franca from Uganda I'm a mechanical of boat engine I need the coil sensor of 9.9 or 15 hp machurally
It’s crazy how these boat motors sit mounted like that. 🚤🎣
Need that for my go cart
Ladies and gentlemen, the lower unit has left the building
Lmao look at that water flow
More money that boat motor knowledge should be the title to this video.
Would love to see this freaking boat in person or just the motor for that on any boat and then seeing it on the actual water dreaming but yes i love boats and to fish!!!! Nothing better in the world than fishing amd boating with family and friends
Wstawię taki do skutera wodnego będzie zajebiście 💪
That’s always good on any motor to redline it so it will make that sound, that sound is a kid playing.
Idk how bat it is for the motor IT SONDS SO GOOD
