  • Join me for a solo canoe trip in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. An extended trip that was truly about social distance as I venture out solo, without regular paddling partners, Blue, our dog and my teenage son.
    For more information about the area in this video see McKenzie Maps #17 Fall Lake and #10 Basswood. @. The people at Piragis Outfitters in Ely are also very knowledgeable when it comes to selecting maps and entry points.

      Super fast and light. Handles like a dream. That being said my Phoenix has more capacity is more maneuverable and I find it to handle big water wind and waves better.

    Thoroughly enjoyed your three videos of the Two Hearted adventure! Thanks for sharing. I'm a native of the Western Upper Peninsula and travel through the Easter UP a half dozen times per year to visit home. I might need to stop and visit these beautiful Rivers on the East side....the Fox and the Two Hearted. I found myself wondering what you might do for work in the "real" world....or maybe the real world is the environment you spent three days canoeing! Looking forward to viewing more of your adventures. Safe travels.

      I work in home interiors / home renovation in the real world. I recently left my job of 10 years and am taking this summer to travel the highlight of which will be a two month wilderness canoe trip. Later this year I will start my new job.

      Very interesting, thanks for sharing! I've been a Real Estate Agent for 24 years so somewhat similar areas of work. Congrats on your new job but more importantly, good luck and safe travels on your two month trip. Wow, sounds amazing! Looking forward to the video footage later this year.

    I spent a lot of time in Ely at the Boy Scout canoe base when I was younger. Absolutely gorgeous country. Thanks so much for bringing back the memories!

    Beautiful place! Maybe similar to Quetico? (I've paddled through there years back.) Noticed you sang the Canadian anthem. ?? Canadian? Looks like the turtle almost forgot about social distancing. 😄

    • @HermitsOutdoorAdventures
      @HermitsOutdoorAdventures  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, Canadian born and raised. Much of my Pandemic Paddling was along the border between Quetico and The Boundary Waters. Looking forward to the day the border restrictions are removed.

    What is the size of your tarp and what brand is it? I like your set up I am using a Clark jungle hammock and I am looking for a tarp idea.

    • @HermitsOutdoorAdventures
      @HermitsOutdoorAdventures  Před 3 lety

      Hi Donny, the tarp is a 10x10 silnylon ultralight hammock tarp made by Onewind Outdoors. I ordered a light coloured tarp because it makes everything bright and cheery underneath. This is especially nice if you are stuck under it on a rainy day.
