- A great trip to the BWCA (Boundary Waters Canoe Area) camping and lake trout fishing. We also did some walleye fishing! This trip was out of Sawbill Entry Point #38 and features some great lake trout fishing and walleye fishing as well as some camping tips and tricks for your next trip. Never fished for lake trout.
How deep were you, and were you using anything with the minnow like a twister or tube body?
30-40 feet and nope just the minnow!
@@ReelNorthOutdoorsit's illegal to use live minnows on designated trout lakes.
We picked up the same bug tent last year.
Its a game changer.
I havevnever targeted lake trout.
But plan to head up north at ice out.
Do you recommend any lures or techniques. Maybe a lake or two ?
I recommend getting your packs as low as possible.
Lower center of gravity and the wind hitting them can greatlybaffect steering
White tube jigs are fantastic, also spinning rigs on bottom! Going out of Gunflint offers multiple lakes that hold lake trout and are relatively easy to access.
