Nice video comparisons. Good to see the RL360c still affective.
Only $4000 for the R9. Such a deal. Looks like they’ll sell a ton of them.
After reviewing Vortex test results, my head is shaking even more as to the $4000 asking price of the R9. Sure you get decent jamming and great range, but for 1/3 the price you can get an ALP system that is easily , readily ( and frequently) updated). Add to that a WS mount RD like a RL 360C or R7 and you’ve got a killer combo for less than 1/2 the price ( remember R9 install is going to run $1000-$2000 dollars US too). No, you won’t have the stealth install, but I’ve also found the radar head mounts for RD suffer damage and or water intrusion out front. So, is the RD performance worth it at $4 large? Not at all given Vortex results.
A comparably equipped ALP is $2700. It is likely to be updated more often though, that’s definitely true. Custom installed radar detectors always cost more than windshield mount equivalents and they’re geared towards specific people. The R9 is more expensive than an R8 or equivalent setup, for sure, but it’s still cheaper than its direct competitors from Radenso, Escort, or Stinger. This isn’t in defense of Uniden, just a note about custom installed stuff in general. I’m surprised how many people are missing this so I’ll be sure to cover this in the full review. Thanks for reminding me.
When I bought my net radar for 1500+ I thought that was ridiculous. Hell the packaging doesn't even need to be that compact as a windshield mount.
@@VortexRadar I'm confused now. Is the R9 a lidar jammer (i.e., a substitute for ALP) or just a detector (i.e., just a stealth-install R8)? I've got ALP installed, and I have an R7 that is malfunctioning, so I'm looking at a replacement for the R7, but don't need another jammer. $4000 makes this an absurd option in any case, given the performance and support of the ALP system, even if the R9 is also a jammer.
What I really want from Uniden is a stealth-install R8 priced maybe a couple hundred above the R8 price point.
When I win the lottery, I’ll definitely have one on my Huracan.
Been waiting for the Red Barn Test! 🎉
Awesome thank you ❤
I want to Thank you for all your information and experience, plus your opinion ❤
Thank you so much for taking your time and effort, to share with all us radar detector familys ❤
Best testing results and methods real life encounters. Now find me the old radar absorbing net from 1993 and combine with my active jammer to see if we can jam your K band gun to the source. Really want the ka module for jamming to see what we can get. Probably needs to be retuned for best results.
I was about to move my R7 from my vette into my wifes car and get on the list to pick this up...then I saw the $4,000 sticker lol. Ill just buy an R8.
The R9 also comes with laser jammers.
Just bought my r7
We need a test vs laser cameras
I am really looking forward to the laser jaming results mostly

Great review, would see how the Jammers work compared to ALP
www.rdforum.org/threads/129776/
4k....Damn
I think ill stick with my R3 after seeing the cost 🤣
4 Grand?????? Really????
Yep. Comparable to other custom installed radar detectors and laser jammers like the RC M / ALP, Redline Ci 360c, etc.
@@VortexRadarALP is like 2 grand with the same amount of sensors this comes with. I purchased the R8 almost solely for the jammer integration. That system better not end up costing as much as the ALP, plus the R8 $700 too.
Lol. I had to do a double take. I can’t imagine spending that much unless laser is heavy in your area and you constantly drive 100s of highway miles per week.
@@WarefareModern3 The R9 needs different packages. You can get the ALP with 2 front and 1 rear sensor (albeit, less than what the R9 comes with) + the R8 for around $2,600-2,700.
@@r0mediddy Don’t you need 3 sensors on the front? 2 to receive and detect the cop, one to transmit and jam the signal? I thought the rx just picked up a signal, making a single rx on the rear without a tx pointless?
$4kusd that’s crazy, they’ll go down in price in a few years times
Hey I'm trying to see if I'm able to install the RC M on my motorcycle. Would that be a good idea? is there anyway I could buy something that will allow my to connect it so I can hear it in my headphones? or if I buy a Valentine V1 Gen 1 and hide it under my seat and connect it to my headphones will it still perform properly? I'm not really looking to slap a huge detected on top my my bike, Im looking a more sleek and discreet look. If you can help me out that'll be great! Thanks.

@@VortexRadar Thank you!
One question would putting a valentine gen 2 or an r4 inside my motorcycle (inside the back seat) will it make the detected not work properly?
Sorry, but I don’t ride motorcycles. For any discussions on the topic, I would encourage you to ask others who are more familiar with the ins and outs of this.

Here's my question... How does it do against MRCD/T? I know you don't have alot in your area, but here in alberta, sheriffs and some municipalities have gone a bit crazy with MCRD/T enforcement ...
There's been some testing on that too. I don't think they've been released yet, but I'll share the results in my full review.
When will you compare the lidar capabilities with other models
(For the semi average scrub to understand)
I thought it was 3k? They bumped up the price by 1k before shipping any units?
Yep
Put the antennae in the ski box on the roof, then we will see some range
That price is a bit steep.. I think I'll be sticking with my V1G2 even though I need to send it in for repair.
V1 G2 has a laser jammer built in too?
👌😎🤙
you live by me!
Howdy neighbor!
Do you ever get interference when running these units all at the same time?
Absolutely. The R9 causes 34.4 falses on the Redline 360c, for example. You always gotta test then one at a time.
Man, Radenso got smoked. Do you assume we're seeing the R8 being mounted higher that got mostly higher marks than the R9?
$4k? Who the hell is the market for this?
Typically people with higher end cars who prioritize aesthetics and a clean install over the best bang for the buck. czcams.com/video/8KaMIti6eYg/video.html
3,999 lol😂😂😂😂😂
Price out a comparably equipped RC M / ALP, Redline Ci 360c, or Stinger equivalent and let me know how that goes… :)
@@VortexRadar ALP 2k - ViG2 600
So 2600??
What am I missing
It's a custom installed radar detector, not a windshield mount. czcams.com/video/8KaMIti6eYg/video.html
@@VortexRadar I’m fully aware that it’s a custom installed system. The hard cost is 4k then there’s installation cost. All for a system that in just a few years will more than likely be outdated. Throughout the years all hardwired systems at some point meet their end due to competition or technological limitation‘s and at that point you’ve thrown all that 4K plus away. To me it makes no sense to hardwire a radar unit in as it’s unnecessary.. I don’t get it, but to each his own
Most people are in the same camp and I agree with you. For others, custom installed is preferable despite the downsides and added cost. To each their own.
Nope! Way too expensive. Just get the R8 and ALP's for less and better protection
I feel like this same conversation comes up every time I do a video on custom installed equipment lol
Which is fine in areas/vehicles where a windshield mount is a viable alternative.... But windshield mounts aren't always the best option.
@@Blue84StangBeen running a R3 in an illegal province for 6 years with no issues. Have had cops standing or sitting right next to my truck with them.
Even had one sitting face to face with my truck ask me what all the lights on the front of my truck were. Said they were amber flashers. He said ahh...Cool. that was it. Lol
Those ain't legal in California right 😂
I think they are legal, just not mounting it on the window or dash. Could be wrong though.
Yeah they are.
Radar Detectors are legal in California they are only illegal in Mississippi and Virginia now laser jammers are definitely illegal in california
@@alexandersilva7477only if they catch ya.
@@Constabruity Yeah that is very true which I believe is very easy to get away with if the cop shoots you with Lidar immediately slow down and turn off the laser jammers so he gets your speed.
Red line 360 the best one
Faaaaaaaaa. 4 grand. Jeez
No thanks 😂
