I know that I will always be late at getting to watch your videos but when I do I will watch them until the end.
*And as you say, "do like and subscribe"!!!*
If you do this ever again, turn off the online routing. This avoids all the rerouting around based on traffic information :)
Great tip, thank you!
I was screaming this in my head the whole video. I think I'm offended. Unsubbing.
@@gabbymcgibson984 Hopefully that's a joke
@@gabbymcgibson984 jeez hope you are joking else you need help...
I drove those same streets in Las Vegas a few months before the race and they were challenging for me as a human who was adjusting on the fly. I also used many UBERS and those drivers all were struggling to get around the mess.
^😂😂
11:27 FSD is handling the "off" traffic light properly as a yield. Looks great :)
Honestly, who wouldn't WANT to watch the entirety of these videos. They are so well made. Keep pumping out the fantastic videos!!!
What a fun Video. This really gives you an idea of where FSD is really at. Incredible test. Thanks
Thank you THANK YOU so much for letting FSD actually struggle and THANK YOU for letting it go through the awkward situations. This is one thing channels like Dirty Tesla dont do "out of courtesy". But its so critical for training and its also extremely entertaining. I cannot express how thankful I am on how far you push FSD. You are by far my fav Tesla channel.
what they said^^
Chris does it when he can
@@SyntheticSpy He does it sometimes, but not nearly as frequently as this guy. I watch both channels videos. Chris is very shy and reserved and is stuck on NOT letting FSD go like this because its rude for other drivers, ans I dont disagree, its definitely rude, awkward, inconsiderate etc, but it needs to be done. Babying FSD and being a "helicopter parent" to it will pause progress
@@FrotLopOfficialthis is a bad take. You should always take over in situations that are dangerous, inconsiderate to others or confusing to other drivers. Tesla wants you to take over when it does something wrong so they can learn where it’s weak. If everyone just lets it do whatever, it’ll actually hurt progress and damage the social acceptance of FSD.
@@quarksounds You are correct
was worried i wasnt gonna be seeing a new video for a while since nothing major has changed for v11 recently, so this was a very nice surprise. thanks!
Yay I have a good attention span :D. Always excited when I get notifications for your channel! Keep up the amazing work, love your content
I don’t own tesla. I live in freezing snowy finland and i still watch the whole video. I am fascinated by the FSD and your content is top notch
Appreciate it!
I always love seeing a new video from you on my homepage
Props for having the bandwidth to deal with all of that going on at the same time, my brain would implode from all the stimulation
love how the line on the steering wheel matches up with the map route. great video!
Best VPN advert intro I have ever seen
6:47 You know how when you go past a fence at speed you can often see through it when you’re in motion. It’s probably the same kind of thing
It will be interesting to see how it takes turns with multiple lanes in v12. From the video it looked like it did them incorrectly and I'm not surprised as most humans do as well. From a single lane to multiple lanes it will just go into whatever lane it wants (usually the right most lane) rather than the closest lane to it.
The requirement varies by state. In California, you are permitted to turn into "any available lane".
My wife would never let me try this haha. She barely allows me to use it when it's not very busy.
Dude, your editing has become TOP TIER. I haven't tuned in for a bit (calmed down with my Tesla obsession!), but I'm back and it's SO cool to see how much better your videos have gotten. You were already my favorite Tesla CZcamsr, I'm SO glad you still find it important to continuously improve your videos.
3:51 well it's not in the left lane because it misjudged where the cones are. As soon as they disappear from the wrong position (blocking the left lane) the car starts to move over.
That was a challenging trip. Good effort by FSD. HD maps aren't used by FSD, but sparse street maps with lane info are. That's why I suspect that visualizations of hidden roads are often displayed.
I am a long time follower and I love exactly those videos. The channel has progressed so much. ❤
Insightful video! FSD thinking the barriers are semi trucks is understandable since it has no understanding of the actual physical world and tries to fit what it sees into models of common objects. That said, FSD does remarkably well given the limitations.
I've noticed when it gets in the wrong lane for a turn, those are cases where GPS data is incomplete (shows I'm on a single lane road despite being on a multilane road with turn lanes).
Regarding the late left turn that happened at the beginning - pretty sure it was because the vision placed several cones well into the left lane (and even slightly into the right lane). When I look at the camera footage, it does appear the cones are farther into the left lane than they actually are, so I can understand why this happened
Love your FSD videos but I am totally looking forward to you F1 experience video!
Great video & narration. Loved it!
Thank you for posting this explanation Steve!
13:08 ...yes we did it...we watching the full video ☺Hugh thanks for your work and the videos ....and yes, greetings from Germany 👋
That ad intro was great xD
AVOID FREEWAYS - I've been asking for this setting for years! My 2012 Audi had it. Even my late 90's aftermarket Pioneer Nav had it as well. COME ON TESLA!
My FSD in HW four has really regressed and does a tremendous amount of shadow phantom breaking. Pretty disturbing to my passengers. Also, it’s refreshing to see all the problems you were having. This is pretty much how my typical daily use of FSD has been.
Damn, it's almost like it's super evident that this is not ready to actually be called "full self driving".
There are two options for the "ghost" roads. One is that it predicts a street there based on the buildings, the street which is currently in front of it and the map data. So it kinda knows that there must be a street to the right based on just the map and sees the buildings making a gap and predicts where the road might be.
The other option is, that it has some kind of money of what the road used to look like. Like a 2D map of the road. So a different car wouldn't have shown anything there, if it never have been there.
But while this could in theory help FSD getting familiar with an area, it kinda makes things much worse if stuff is different than it "saw" them before.
Which increases the chance of very hard to track down bugs.
My bet is on the first one.
Your wife sounds cool, good F1 fan! My wife and I stay up late/wake up early morning to see races in Europe and the Americas.
You should be given a special thanks from Elon Musk himself! These videos showcase what FSD are capable of..
I sometimes wonder if he’s ever seen my videos
@@AIDRIVR i know he has watched Dirty Tesla's videos in the past and your channel is a fair bit more popular than his so I'd be really surprised if he hasn't watched at least one of your videos
@@AIDRIVRI can imagine him watching your videos at least once in awhile
True, but others see the same clips and claim it’s a death machine.
The AI was hallucinating the BUS beside you because of the walls length, and it’s advertisements lettering on its side, So it was reading as a bus riding beside you instead of a normal roadside barrier.
Good video! Seems like whatever the temporary barriers are made off, the AI doesn't recognize it as barriers but as vehicles, as you said, and way too close to the vehicle as well. That's a problem - those kinds of barriers are quite common, at least here.
Good idea testing it in this unusual environment. I just got a Model Y and I attribute a lot of that decision to the software progress I've seen in your videos.
Great vid as allways! 👍
Thanks for the F1 vid bro!
Thanks for watching!
Here before it blows up 🙌 This is definitely a first for FSD
Cool. Nice work as usual.
6:44 I like the 33 Max in the right corner of the screen 😀🏎️
Guy at the end had plenty of room. He was looking back and not paying attention that traffic was moving, so his loss. Even then, FSD had a stopline picked multiple times had he started moving.
Las Vegas was challenging a couple years ago, even without the F1 chaos. Let’s go AiDriver and v12!
Thanks for the attetion span compliment!
Great test. Consider making a sign you can hold up when FSD is being rude. It might say, "I'm testing a self-driving car and it is being rude just now." I'm sorry.". I wonder if it would elicit a smile or a rude gesture instead.
12:12 well, all the "temporary" stuff on the road plus all the cars make it hard for the car to confirm arrows on the lanes. So it plays it "safe" and only gets in the left lanes based after it passes the intersection before, so it doesn't end up in a left lane too early.
That's an extremely hard problem to "fix" as it can't rely on map data, because of the temporary nature of the road.
Guess it needs to read the signs for lanes, to fix this properly.
What a great drive! Can’t wait until we have the beta 🙌🏽
Love your channel man, been watching for a long time. I’ve heard V12 is going to be released worldwide, fingers crossed for you!
It doesn't have high-res maps but it absolutely has maps, so visualizing roads off to the side is because of its prior information from google maps.
Slightly surprised that autopilot doesn't take voice commands such as 'continue straight', 'take the next left' 'change lanes left' etc.
Edit: have you tweaked the overlay a bit? seems even better, maybe my faulty memory tho lol.
Also, have you not been 'papped' yet?! ; )
Yes I've been absolutely waiting for this.
4:00 - I have had the Beta, as it is stopping for a stop light, try to make a lane change as the car is nearly stopped. That has happened a number of times. I have no idea what the car might be "thinking"???
4:57 - I saw one video posted where FSD Beta visualized a train as a series of semi trucks going down the tracks. 🤣🤣
Great vids!
The question is if it would have stopped at a light that was out and treated it as a stop sign in other areas.
The truck at the beginning of the video must be a Tesla Semi, given how well it can keep up on the small, curvy track. 😂
Fairly certain map data is used to display what roads the car expects to see when its vision is blocked by an obstruction.
3:19 The purpose of that barrier is very simple: No entry, exit only. Sadly, people will be people and only care about their own priorities, so this hardly ever works.
Very interesting to see the beta
Looks like a lot of fun!
06:17 thats torture 🤣 i love it
Thank you. Over an hour of driving? A labour of love. Hope your wife enjoyed the race. (Go on, do us a Short, I dare you!)
Were soooooo far away from real FSD. Imagine this here in Finnish winter. 😂
The purpose of the barrier is to make that driveway exit only.
"How is it visualizing roads it can't see" - map data. Map data is fed to the NN that finds drivable space, so the NN 'knows' something should be there but can't validate it with cameras, and ends up 'seeing' a 'blurry' version of the road before it's truly visible.
Lots of 'quotes' here, as I'm anthropomorphizing a bit, but that's essentially what's causing it.
The vision networks are basically primed to know where most roads are and what they *should* look like. The network builds confidence in those predictions as the cameras gain visibility, and the visualizations get more solidified at that point.
I don't think autonomy is possible without HD maps or maps that specify in which lane to be
Why? You and I can drive without HD maps, or any maps at all; and we figure out which lane to be in on the fly. If we can do it, autonomy should be able to do it. And I don't remember which version it was, but at some point in the past year or so Tesla released a new version of FSD which explicitly did not require maps at all. Maybe someone can come up with that.
*EDIT* "Musk: FSD Beta Version 10.13 Will Handle Roads With No Map Data"
@@BigBen621
Well it's because we have a brain !
How do you screen capture the navigation screen?
By the title I thought that there will be a FSD race in an F1 track .. I Feel Mislead ..!
But would have been cool to see FSD driving at MAX speed in a Race Track .!
The roads it imagines, but can not see are most likely from maps. The model is probably supported by low res maps (like google maps) for its predictions.
Im confident it uses google maps to predict the lanes it can't see. All the time. It doesn't use HD maps, but it does use maps. Actually that's quite dangerous with regular non-FSD TACC, which can't cope when there is unmapped roadworks and it thinks it can still go straight when the lanes have been changed and unmapped, even though they are visually very clear.
I'm quite ready for some new versions of FSD... My route to and from work is full of things it HATES, like odd lane splits, poor road markings, blind turns, and funky intersections.
Wished you would gone down Harmon and try to turn on Koval
(Which is still blocked)
I may have missed something , but where is your cool licence plate?! I miss it ;D
It’s on the car now as of yesterday, had to get it transferred from the Model S
Taking FSD out of beta doesn't mean anything unless the driver can stop paying attention (even in limited scenarios)
The real turning point for autonomous driving will be when a company takes responsibility for its consumer vehicles' self-driving.
>"According to my CZcams metrics, your attention span is significantly longer than most."
Nah, I just watch at 2x speed. xD
i think the fsd visualization is extremely powerful, dont think it "remembers" them but i think its a mix of maps + vision to display the predicted path
I would consider getting a second phone for video recording. Phone quality is much better than gopro quality now and battery life and video sharing should be better. A good phone for all around video quality, especially low light would be the Pixel 8 or 8 Pro. The Pro has a really good ultrawide as well. The video boost feature they're introducing next month is supposed to give it the best video on a phone by far.
Autopilot Tom versus autopilot Jermaine. Lol 😂😂😂
Lol 09:42 I feel you bro!!
Was ist mit der Leistungsbechränkung wenn wir im haus 3 Eautos und eine Wärmepmpe haben 😈
Wait...my car hasn't show the occupancy network for like 6+ months. Why is yours still showing it?
What happened to the AI DRIVR license plate ?
I had to get it transferred from the old car. It’s back on now!
My car many times seems to be polite and let's other drivers in when traveling at a slow speed.
I like the live farmer ssh feed tbh, great test Tesla needs all situations to improve, haven't seen a 3 point turn yet, reversing, surely if it can park then it can achieve these types of manoveres? How do you teach common sense in fluid situations
Your difficult drive probably trained the neural net. Disengage good for now.
Thanks!
Thank you, truly appreciate it!
They need to program the car to sacrifice itself over pedestrians, then use safety methods to ensure the well being of the ocupants

Las Vegas is 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000 square metres of the surface of the Earth. A tiny postage stamp size of anywhere.
Interesting to see what FSD did, that being said, I can't wait until v12. Woohoo! my attention span is somehow longer than most people 😂
May have been guilty of attention span fail the 1st time, but I'm back for the whole thing. 🙂
Dang. what hoping you had v12. After only watching the first 30sec I can conclude this will be a frustrating drive on v11. the latest updates have been a regression no matter how you slice it.
Bro, I want to see FSD on the Nürburgring
Let's make it happen!
The reason you can't use vision alone is because of stuff like this. There is some context here a human driver would be aware of. They'd have certain intel in advance when planning a trip through these roads over a race weekend. I seriously can't imagine that solely vision is the right way forward for FSD
I can't imagine the feeling you guys were having when autopilot didn't let the guy pass by you. lol
2 weeks later. Still no FSD 12. lol
upvoted!!!
Why is everyone so hyped about the Las Vegas GP? Is it just because it's the only race in america and all the americans are hyped?
Did you get a new car?
Yep, few months ago. I can direct record the screen on this one!
Must people dont understand the tech. It is just machine learning that must have seen something before for it to work
