Mon Dieu, I nearly went insane installing this thing. The problem is the front of the plate is some distance from the front mounting holes, so getting the bolts to line up without crossthreading is impossible if you follow AXP's instructions. Here's how to save your sanity:
Install the adhesive foam.
Install the steel inserts into the large T-shaped plastic piece
Install the T-shaped piece as shown in the video
DO NOT install the rectangular plastic spacers to the skidplate as shown in the instructions, and don’t install the rear mounting screws before doing the fronts. Doing so makes it very difficult to line up the 40mm front mounting bolts, and you can easily end up cross-threading them. (Ask me how I know). Follow these steps to save yourself hours of trying to get these bolts to line up properly:
1. Without the skidplate, screw the two 40mm bolts into the front mounting holes on the frame, just a few turns. This is to get an idea of the angle of approach, and you should find that the bolts turn easily in the threads.
2. Remove the bolts.
3. Slide an alloy spacer on to one bolt and put the bolt through the hole in the front of the skidplate.
4. Examine one of the rectangular plastic spacers. One edge is bevelled. Slide the spacer over the bolt. The bolt goes in the hole closest to the bevel, and the bevelled side must be facing the skidplate, not the bike.
5. Lift the skidplate and screw the bolt into the mounting hole on the Tenere. It should turn easily with your fingers. Screw just a few turns to make sure it’s not cross threaded, but leave it very loose.
6. Now do the same with the other 40mm front mounting bolt.
7. Install the 2 nuts and bolts that hold the spacers to the skidplate. Don’t tighten, leave these very loose.
8. Install the 2 Allen screws with tapered heads that hold the rear of the skidplate to the T-shaped plastic piece you installed in step 3. The instructions that come with the plate says to use 25mm screws, but I had to use the 30mm screws they included. Don’t tighten but get them almost snug, with just a little play.
9. Tighten the 40mm front bolts that hold the plate to the frame. Get one almost snug, then get the other snug, then go back to the other one and tighten, then tighten the other one.
10.Tighten the 2 screws in the rear of the plate that you installed in step 8.
11. Tighten the nuts and bolts holding the spacers from step 7.
12. You’re Done!

Je suis surpris du nombre de personnes qui ont galéré pour le montage. Pour ma part j’ai juste ajusté un poil les deux supports en plastique pour qu’ils ne soient pas en porte à faux sur le "bourrelet" de la soudure intérieure et le montage m’a pris un quart d’heure sans stress.

Il faut voir ce nombre de personne face au nombre de sabots vendus. En effet, il est possible de le monter en 15minutes. Nous respectons les difficultés de certains mais à ce jour, cela représente une mineure partie et nous sommes aussi conscients de ne pouvoir satisfaire 100% du monde :)
Deux montés à ce jour, sur une ténéré 700 et sur un gasgas es 700 et impeccable les deux fois✌️
I’ve been using AXP plates on few dirtbikes and liked it. Re Tenere 700 - as a plastic engineer I am wondering how HDPE can survive next to hot pipes (especially EURO-4 version). Heat deflection temperature of HDPE is 120 C, above 130 it can’t hold the shape anymore… thank you for comments
Hi, I have no better answer than telling you we use HDPE on big bikes for 3 years now, on the 790/890 and the T7 and we design our plates with enough space to not melt against the exhaust :) Our products are also tested in worst conditions before going on sales ! Bonjour, pourriez-vous me communiquer l'espacement entre le sabot axp et le carter moteur + la pompe à eau svp ? J'ai installé les protections Acerbis carter moteur + pompe à eau et je me demande si c'est compatible avec le sabot axp...
Im not unsure about the material since special plastic can be harder than metal. But the heat then? How many celsius can it take from the exhaust pipes?
We are as sure of our skid plate as we sold thousands and haven't heard about any resistance issue :) HDPE can take a bit more than 100 degrees. More again, we put enough space with the exhaust to avoid any issue :) Plastic is not harder than metal but as resistant and more flexible. Our product does not undergo deformation, contrary to alloy. It saves also lot of weight and reduces a lot the "ringing" noise of an alloy skid plate facing gravels of the road

Salut, bon j’en ai un peu bavé quand même en solo , la vidéo fait rêver effectivement 🤔😁! Heureusement que j’avais mon lève-moto cric pour soutenir le sabot comme troisième main pour le comprimer ou faites le à deux si possible .
Mais , et peut-être à cause de ça, le montage s’est fait sur une extrême édition qui a plus de débattement et un amortisseur différent..? Merci AXP de votre réponse. Sportivement.
Bonjour :) Nous avons, pas plus tard que la semaine dernière, pris une moto et monté un sabot venant directement du stock. Nous étions en conditions "garage", à savoir allongé à même le sol et le montage s'est effectué correctement. Pas de problème avec la biellette. Même s'il y a contact, une fois debout et le pilote dessus, il n'y a plus ce problème :)
Hi will this fit with a centre stand fitted ?
We did not get the chance to check ourselves. We only got customers feedback saying it fits with SW Motech center stand and the Yamaha one requires some cut in the rear of the plate. Not a big work but officialy, we can't warranty it
does this also fit a Tenere World Raid?

Got mine in for euro 5 bike and nothing lines up like it should. the linkage is rubbing the linkage protector. bike is brand new
Can confirm, wasn't a very smooth installation...linkage is rubbing, hope that doesn't cause problems!
Same problem. Super difficult to line up the holes and linkage is rubbing.

Sur la Euro 5, il y a un catalyseur à l’avant donc le sabot est plus long de manière à l'intégrer à l’intérieur du sabot. Les deux versions sont donc bien différentes.

l'ajustement peut-être serré si les écrous pinces sont un peu plus gros. Tourne vis plat suffisament large pour être en appui sur la tranche des écrous et petit coup de massette ;)

On est d'accord qu'il faut enlever la protection ( thermique) du silencieux pour que le devant du sabot puisse être vissé ?

Can confirm, nothing fits. cross threaded one of the front mounting points on the bike trying to fit this garbade.
If you want a bash plate look elswhere.

Mount it is the worst nightmare ive ever experienced, and it doesnt fit right, is forced and touches the rear shock
We just had one from our stock to fit on a bike and it went well . Start by fitting both rear sides screws, tight the front right side and the other one will align. Not the best fit we've done but not so difficult at least
@@axpracing you guys say so, not an easy fit, and you know an easy removal of the skidplate is important beacuse you have to remove it for oil changes, exhaust changes... and i think with that bad fit in 4 o 5 oil changes is going to be broken
@@Septal16we say "not the easiest fit" . It means that on more than 300 references, we have products easier to fit, also because bike design is easier. The T7 skid plate is not hard to fit, just a bit more technic than others

Un enfer à monter, la notice est vraiment à travailler.. 40min a galèrer, même si le résultat en vaut le coup !

Bonjour. La notice indique clairement chaque référence de vis et il est précisé à chaque étape lesquelles utiliser. La notice est également accessible en ligne en couleur si besoin sur la page produit du sabot ainsi que la vidéo tuto.

This product has been sold by hundreads and fits. There also have a frame setting to "play with" . You have to unthighten some screws to move the frame rails and adjust for a better fit. We invite you to read a customer comment : "Rick Miller
Very happy with mine. Installation tip: there is a lot of play built into the mounting holes for the bottom rails that run under the engine. It may help to loosen them for your initial fitment, so that all of the holes align properly. 0.02" .
