    @BOTGRINDER Před 2 lety +36

    The premade kits rarely use the electronics the actual pilots fly its just too expensive, you usually just get the frame they use and sometimes the motors, you would be better off just buying everything separately in my opinion unless you just dont want to build a drone. another great video matt! cant wait to see you hit 100k subs!

    • @MattPochwat
      @MattPochwat  Před 2 lety +6

      Thanks Bot! Yea that disclaimer was mostly for the Rotor Riot quads because I can't fully back that up. The GetFPV quads seem pretty damn similar though! I've heard both Steele and Johnny mention that those are the actual quads they fly and they're pretty damn pricey. But I dunno! I bet there's a bunch you know that I don't. I also looked for a botgrinder bnf to include in this vid but I couldn't find one yet. I need a quad that can be sent into space... Maybe in 2022? 👀

    • @BOTGRINDER
      @BOTGRINDER Před 2 lety +4

      @@MattPochwat The reason there isnt a botgrinder bnf is just for that reason, no one will use the parts i want to use. The getfpv kits are quality and yes you are correct afaik the steele and johhny kits are what they use those are the exceptions.

      Agreed but here in the U.K. (at-least) devices with cameras need to be “toys” also, which is poorly defined but I can’t see how the more expensive ones can really be a “toy”. Less than 250g but not a toy avoids the theory test & the rule (here) about not flying within 50m of other people but the device still needs to be registered by the operator every few years.

    i own the isdt 608ac (the compact one that came in both kits)
    its great, should be able to charge basically most batteries you have at a good speed (joshua bardwell did a video on it that went through some of the math to see what it could handle), though i mainly charge 3s batteries on it
    also, it has a detachable ac power supply that sort of clicks in and out of place, which means if youre at home or something you can plug it straight into the wall, but then you can take off the ac power supply and take it out into the field and use your batteries as a power supply (xt60).
    all in all, pretty solid charger, especially for a beginner

    That's kinda what I've done. I got the DJI Goggles V2, DJI Radio and a DJI AIR UNIT in a Kit for a future self build drone. I want to get into cinematic flying and wasn't happy with my analog picture. So I decided to buy the CINELOG 35 Digital version from GEPRC and it was really easy to set up. DJI does a really good job in making binding really easy. I really wish, I had ordered a spare frame for the CINELOG though.. I lost connection flying behind a building, and crashed on concrete.. How do some pilots get so much range out of the DJI Digital System? I am kinda afraid about crashing my drones because of that, didn't really get a warning.

    @FrancescoScaramucci Před 2 lety +4

    Hey Matt, love your content and I always find it extremely helpful.
    I've got a question for you (or for anybody who wants to help me out): I bought the DJI FPV Drone as soon as it was announced because it was the first truly accessible way into the FPV world for someone who doesn't want to learn how to bind stuff, weld electronics or just not want to burn their house down by charging batteries the wrong way.
    I'm now looking for a Cinewhoop under 250gr to create cinematic sequences of (mostly) indoors flying: I'd like to use the DJI Goggles V2 that came with the DJI FPV Drone, so I would "only" need the drone, some batteries with their charger and a radio. Is it possible to get a RTF bundle similar to the ones you showed in this video in this configuration? Also, which drone would you recommend? I'm torn between the Cinelog25 and Cinelog30.
    TIA!

    • @MattPochwat
      @MattPochwat  Před 2 lety +1

      Since you already have the goggles, if you purchase the DJI radio and the drone, it's really easy to bind that equipment together. DJI simplifies it a ton. They have a few videos on CZcams that you can watch to see how easy it is. As for the Cinelog, both are very similar. The cinelog 25 will be great for indoor but will get blown around a tiny bit more if it's windy outside. The cinelog 30 will be a tiny bit bigger and slighly less stable indoors due to larger gusts that it will produce, but slightly more stable outside. You just have to decide what is your priority. Again, both are very similar.

I currently fly large scale 3d 700/800 size helis. I'm looking to make my first purchases to see if FPV is for me. I would like to spend a bit more up front to get quality. I waited for the tech to mature somewhat because I felt the anolog was unappealing visually. I would be doing zero cinema and more freestyle. I would appreciate your thoughts. Also, because I spend so much time already building and maintaining my helis, I would prefer not to build the first but I can be persuaded if it makes sense for me. 👍

    Question from someone who never purchased an FPV drone before, when you buy a FPV digital drone, they always ask what receiver to include with the drone, what do you select? PNP - Frsky R-*** or TBS Crossfire. I do have the DJI Goggles and controller. So I think I just do PNP ?

    • @MattPochwat
      @MattPochwat  Před 2 lety

      It's always good to make sure with the company you're buying from specifically to make sure they wired it up correctly, but yes, the PNP version should allow you to use the DJI controller.

    Me being a very green beginner, I prefer RTF or BNF because I don't want to worry about if I made a mistake setting something up. That way when I crash, I know it was all me and not the drone. LOL It's part of my self-deprecating humor.

    I'm considering getting an iFlight Bumblebee V3 as my first drone. It's not really a RTF bundle, though you can order it as a kit, but I wanted your opinion on it as a first/intro drone. And to see if you have any suggestions for an FPV drone to fly in the house on heavy weather days. I plan to get the DJI Goggles and do the analog mod to it.

      I know you aren’t after my opinion on it, but: I started off with bumblebee v3 and very quickly outgrew it skill wise.. I’m still a newbie (5 months in) and bought the Nazgûl Evoque F5 and honestly have not flow my bumblebee since

    • @m2kfpv449
      @m2kfpv449 Před 2 lety

      Depends on your location (rural vs urban) and what type of flying (cinematic vs acrobatic). Cinewhoops like the Bumblebee just can’t handle quick dynamic movements especially on pitch (flips). But a cinewhoop is great for smooth camera footage and flying around people or tight areas. In any case, skip the Bumblebee and go for the Diatone Taycan if you stick with the 3inch cinewhoop idea. Good luck!

    These kits are basically the same price as the DJI fpv kit. Why not just get that. That battery life lasts ten times longer. Wouldn't that kit be so much easier? The DJI drone is great and really easy to use but a lot of people are disappointed by it's performance and/or camera quality + stabilization. This is just another alternative and will get even better results than the DJI FPV drone for those willing to eventually fully dive into fpv.

    • @m2kfpv449
      @m2kfpv449 Před 2 lety

      When you fly freestyle, the DJI FPV Drone battery does not last ten times longer than a standard 6S lipo. Only if you fly in stabilized Sport mode then you’ll get very good flight times. So just like non-DJI fpv, if you cruise you’ll be efficient with your battery, but if you like full acro you will drain quickly and nowhere near DJI’s stated 20 minutes.

    It is better to build your own.... bind and flys are still the cheapest build possible most of the time. Just using the pro pilots frame design. So the motors and all the electronics are not top of the line. I spend anywhere from $800-$1200 on a whole build that is with the gopro included and the T-Motor F7HD stack/ F55a4-1ESC
    I use F80Pro2200KV motors on 6s! (Fucking beast ass motors!) and the strongest frames I have ever used and tested are the Apex Standard frame and the apex 5.5” frame. KINfpv’s AtlasV3 frame, But the (The Gravity Loss GRL Titanium Pro 2 frame) is by far the strongest lightest fastest build I have it will take an absolute beating over and over and over again. I’m still using the same GRL build I built from day one. Which is amazing cause I was breaking an apex frame atleast once a week.
