    Great video, going to give it a shot adjusting the S&S super E carb on the 93 sporty I got from my dad. I am not a mechanic by any means but am learning riding the older bikes I need to learn how to work on them.

    Appreciate the videos man... I've been fighting with a 99 CMC and the carb for the last few days. I've watched a few of your videos and they have answered quite a few questions. Gonna strip may carb down and try to do a simple clean to get the junk out. It wont idle without the choke at around half.

    I’m late to the party….but I’m joining anyhoo. I just picked up an 03 slammer and it is not a bike for the turns, but gosh I love it. S&S Super G. My tact is that I bought a new G and a master rebuild kit. When the new G arrives, I am going to calibrate to the suggested settings and yank the old one and put the new one on and start from a known point….that way I can take my time and clean/rebuild the old one and see why it takes me 17 miles for the 107 to start purring. A 1k rpm idle is simply not a good number for this bike but 1200 to 1500 seems good. I have a lot to learn but it should be a fun ride 😊 God Bless to all

    Gotttter done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!......runs like a champ.....no lagging but the enritchener lever has to be up about 1 inch for idle or the bike dies....tuning tomorrow

      Idle jet still dirty. enricher is compensating for clogged idle jet. shut enricher and she dies. You miss something. It happens. Let me know how it works out.

      @@TwoWheelRocco Hey, I cleaned the heck out of the jets could see through them, let them set in dip for 35 minuts, rinsed with water used my air compressor on the parts and used carb cleaner the holes were exposed....what about the idle screw? we didnt mess with it

      The way I see it. if she idled fine with that idle screw setting not too long ago, then what change? I Would spray carb cleaner in that idle circuit and make sure it is spraying out the very small holes by the back of idle plate. If you turn the idle screw out you will start steeling gas from needle circuit. That is what will happen if the plate is open too much buy turning that idle screw. Let us know how it works out.

    S&S carbs seem to run better on the rich side. The plugs on my 88' Softail are a little on the black side but not a gummed up black,, a dry black.. but better than it being too lean. I don't think it will really hurt the motor and the thing hauls ass. Think I'm gonna leave it alone for now. Nothing worse than going from 'running great' to now it runs like sheet because I messed with it. Good luck getting your carbs set. S&S makes a great carb!     I have a 02 ironhorse and i dont know if im doing it wrong but my bike seems to chug out after awhile on the highway around 65mph, any ideas?

      Happy to help. I would check for vacuum leaks and then take note of what jets you're running in the carburetor to SS Carburator at that. That problematic bikes so be patient. I know I was.     When I start my 1997 heritage softail and hit the starter switch it turns over and I release the starter switch it starts but then at times it won't it will backfire do you know why this happens ?

    Evening,
    Just did a carb cleaning and I'm having a hard time tuning it. 86 Sportster screams (high idle) from cold start and continues runing like that even if I close the idle mixture screw. Any tips on how to lower idle? Tried idle speed screw and idle mixture screw and no luck.

      Happy to help. You are sucking air from intake, manifold, or an open vacuum hose. That is causing the lean condition. This equals a high idle. I just did a new video on setting up an SS carb.       @@TwoWheelRocco would it be possible be the throttle/return cables being misadjusted to cause the engine erratic idle? Do you have any video for 86 Sporster with S&S E carburetor?

      @@SecretBallroomNJ You could disconnected. Try to put play back into throttle cables and see what you got. If it's a screaming Idle, then I would check the throttle hardware. Make sure the butterflies completely closed and try to start it.

    Got a 1990 fxr evo with a super e carb. Was at it for an hr. I tried adjusting it with the choke down kept dying so I had to fiddle with the idle adjuster screw still no luck any suggestions? Even tried to set it back to normal setting

    I got an s&s 117 with a WCC air cleaner and WCC hellbeny pipes. Bike seems to break up under heavy throttle....you think its getting too much or not enough fuel? Thanks.

    I'm curious on your axle set up. . I see possible iron horse Master cylinder possibly performance machine. Looks like a paughco frame. But I'm curious about your reinforcement to the axle.

      This machine is long gone. I think it was a softail set up, if I remember right. It was a tough ride.

      @@TwoWheelRocco Come to find out I just called S&s and basically the tuner in my area said to run a tune that was way too rich. He wanted me to run an 80 main jet and a 31 pilot in S&S recommended a 76 main jet with a 31 pilot.

    a couple of questions i have the same motor in my AIH CHOPPER what size jets do you have in that carb and do you have open exhaust I've got bad decell backfire i cant get rid of ...thanks for your help

      Happy to Help, Yes I had open exhaust. how long have you owned this bike. Did it always run rough. I haven't had that bike for 2 years personally I don't like the way it road. I would clean the Carburator and check your jets. If I remember right my big problem was the float needle jet and seat, there's an O-ring in there that fails take a look at it.and replace, that causes lots of rich motor problems.     Hey man I ride my Harley daily and I got an s&s carb and I always got to adjust my choke because it always goes down what can I do? It goes all the way low to when I come to a stop and don’t give it gas it’ll die out

    Hi Rocco. I have a 1976 Ironhead with an S&S shorty super e carb. Bike starts and runs great except when i get into the higher rev range then it starts to pop and sputter unless I am very slow when winding the throttle. Do you have any idea on what the issue may be?

      Happy to help. I would look at the main jet, go bigger see if it helps if not go smaller.     So if my 1987 harley xl 1100 is spitting a flame now and then and a bit of black smoke should i be opening or closing my mixture screw. S&S e carb with an S&S airfilter kit.

      Sounds like float needle needle is failing. Take your float bowl off and clean. Fuel is flooding carburetor. Let us know how it works out.

    So air screw In is leaner mix and out -left is richer, about half a turn is about all the area that there is to play with, pretty straight forward right , do you set a tad bit richer ?

      Thanks rocco, do you have float height adjustment , I have pump around 1 turn out ? so much fuel it spurts out the intake of carb bogs , low rpm , higher gear, maybe I'm afraid to over rpm. Thanks your very helpful

      Real fair weather fan,. remove plugs and let your motor air out, clean pugs and a full charged battery and you should be all right. Let it sit over night sound like motor is flooded out.
