You are a champ man. I wish you were in every harley how to video i watch, so i can actually fix my problem. I wish i could give you a million likes. I will definitely give you mine though. You rock buddy.
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO. EDUCATING ME ON THE HOW AND WHY OF MY CARB HAS MADE ME A LIFE LONG SUPPORTER OF YOURS.
Watched this video in hopes of learning why my S&S 111 was so hard to crank, and ran rough at low speeds. Then at ~10:25 you showed that tiny, little, blue o-ring, and I thought, gee, I remember seeing one of those in my tool box, but not on the carb. Sure 'enough, dropped the bowl and no o-ring. Grabbed the one in my tool box, installed it, that fixed it -- it fired right up and ran great. thanks for doing such a good job on this video. BTW, I got the bowl extender screws from you guys... a definite got-to-have for this carb.
I just bought a bike with this carb and this video is immensely helpful. Thank you for this stellar content. I'll be making a purchase from Lowbrow very soon.
such a gentle soul.
Very helpful !!! I was having an issue with the excelerator pump. Small piece of dirt between the tiny spring and ball bearing. Thumbs up for showing that area in detail.
Todd to the rescue yet again! I'm doing this right now on my 88 Springer. Cheers from UK.
Getting ready to rebuild my carb for my shovel. Great how to video!
I'm getting a '94 softail going thats been sitting for 15 years. fantastic video man very helpful
On the 76 shovel i just acquired, it has an SS carb on it, which i have not identified yet , but i do know it is around 10 years old. This was helpful as i have not rebuilt an ss carb as of yet. Thanks Todd.
Thanks Lowbrow for uploading these videos! RATP
I purchased those float bowl screws and make it so much easier to work on the carb. Great video, thanks
Great Video and explanation. Thank You.
Thanks for the video Todd! Keep 'em comin.
just a comment about the cables needed, S&S sells/supplies two different cable locators, one for butterfly, and one for CV carbs, if your bike originally had a CV carb, you would use the tall one. if you had a butterfly carb (89 and earlier, i think) you would use the shorter one
Thank you for the videos and tips.
This makes it all seem a lot less complicated Cheers 👍🏼
Todd very helpful!
I just learn a lot with video I know a little to be dangerous this man just took me to another level he’s great 👍🏽
I was watching the video on one screen and the lowbrow web sight on the other I looked up those bowl screws you showed us and i saw a bowl drain with a fitting for a drain hose so a person can cleanly drain carb for winter how cool is that.
Excellent video!!!
I've been using S&S carbs for over 20 years and never used 2 throttle cables. It only takes 1 because it has that big ass spring on it.
Excellent job!!!
Thanks for sharing. Glad I saw video. Liked your ribbed air cleaner cover that bolts up to stock s&s backing plate. Getting me one.
Piece of cake, bro! 👌Mb worth to say that there are S&S throttle cable adjustment kits for you original HD cables on the market.
very helpful, thanks dude.
learned alot thanks for the upload :)
What type of cables do you need? I’ve got the s&s tear drop and it works with the stock cables but it sticks a little almost like cruise control
wow, i just realized my spring in above my accel diaphragm, whoever touched it last mucked that up thats probably causing my issue with weird accel pump spray 👌 the details count
Hey todd I recently just looked into buying a s&s super e shorty carb for my 1979 sportster, I was just wondering what I would need to change to make it run right and also if the rebuild kit in the description would work for that carb or if I need a different one, also if you have any other advice I’d be glad to hear it , thank you
Thank you. I didn’t have the confidence to tear into my carb. Until I watched your video. 66 Shovel is running great thanks to you!
Nice job on your video. 😎👍
Great video. Thanks
I just spent all afternoon re-jetting this carb on my friends custom with the same result with every jet combo, a flat spot at about 2500 rpm, when I went into the accelerator pump I found the check ball was missing, anyone know off hand what size that is? I am sure I could wing it and grab a few from NAPA and trial and error it, but it would be great if I knew the size. Thanks
Lowbrow customs is the best
i know you said for a EVO, i am starting a project on a FXD super Glide with a Carb. going to change to a S & S , good to know i need to change the cables.
Good video!
Great video.. thank u
Thanks Gandalf !
wow alot of information... Thanks
Todd, I have a question. I have a S&S carb on a '97 Wide Glide. Rode the bike about 10 miles last time out and noticed a steady leak coming from the overflow hose from the carb. Switched the bike off and gas still dripping heavy. Could it be a stuck float bowl ? Thanks for any help.
what kind of best Jetting can use on S&S 124 motor ?
Good video!!!!!!
Any help guys? I have a 96 evo fatboy.
S and s e carb
Bike runs great. Idles great zero issues.
My problem is the float bowl over flow tube has begun leaking fuel from the tube..small puddles under bike.
Can i fix this without taking everything apart? Especially since it's perfect other than this?
Thanks
you guys rock!
good morning lowbrow customs,
what is the good compromise for the sprinklers on
a type E shorty on a 1340cc 84 shovelhead?
main jet and secondary jet
THANKS
Im "this close" to ripping this carb off my bike and just throwing on a mikuni. However, im not going to let it kick my butt. Im tired of fouling plugs (way more than ill admit here.) I went back n followed initial set up settings per S-S. However, the only way to check my 'tune' is to read the plugs. My rear cylinder is WAY LEAN!!! I cant find a happy medium with this dang thing. I dont wanna burn up this engine, but i want to stop fouling plugs as well. This video makes me just wanna go through it completely, put it back on the bike and see if its any better. Thnx for the descriptive explanations.
Dude i hv a 1995fxsts softail withs&s carb gas is pouring out of my over flow tube do i hv to take the hyper charger off to get to the float thnx
Can you remove the ejector nozzle completely ? Or is it pressed in and you can't remove the tube ?
my accelerator pump screw is about 3/4 to an inch long. I think its the wrong one from the previous owner. The only way I can get squirt is with it backed all the way back so the spring is loose.
What do I do if my brand new super e carbs choke rod with the spring is stuck in the down position.
I know its an older video but for what ever reason my Fast Idle Pick up tube running through the choke cracked, how do I replace that?
Thank you
Any chance of bringing back the main jet "bullseye" or DaVinci venturi
Much obliged
This video saved my ass
If anyone happens to see this comment. I just bought a bike with this carb on it. I don’t think he mentions it in this video but there is a overflow tube that comes off of the bowl. It’s on the right side if you’re looking at the carb mounted to the bike. Mine came with a short yellow/clear tube that just runs down and sits on top of the transmission area near the chain guard. My question is it suppose to have a little suction to the tube. My dads concern was that I live on a gravel road and if I rode it home it would suck all that fine gravel dust up the tube and into the carb therefore into the engine.
what kind of air filter can I use with the S&S carb. I really don't like the teardrop style

Hello Todd! Would you know what i need to change from my stock carburetor to s&s carburetor. I have a 2003 sportster 883.
You need this... the carburetor: www.lowbrowcustoms.com/products/s-and-s-cycle-super-e-carburetor-assembly-s-s-cycle-11-0420 Then whatever air cleaner you are going to run you need gaskets, carb mount and breather bolts. Air cleaner gasket: www.lowbrowcustoms.com/products/gasket-for-super-e-g-carb-to-air-cleaner-backing-plate
Carb support: www.lowbrowcustoms.com/products/gasbox-s-s-carburetor-support-1991-2006-harley-davidson-sportsters
Breather Bolts: www.lowbrowcustoms.com/products/radius-harley-davidson-evo-breather-bolts-chrome-plated
@@lowbrowcustoms Very cool response man. I just found you on the Tube. Im picking up a 2000 883 sportster next weekend. 6000 miles. Needs carb work, oh joy but price is right. If the one on it cant be repaired I will be going to your site.
Gd stuff guy i really dig your vidieos etc al, i just picked up an older bike my buddy passed away so his old man gave it to me for barley nothing, anyways its a 1995 fxsts softail , but the carb is s& s shorty , i not a good wrench at all except for the basic stuff like oil changes and small things anyways theres gas coming out of my overflow hose and i was wondering would i have to take this carberator completely off the bike or is there anything out out there i can buy to throw into my gas tank to clean the carb out and the lines, im guessing based on this vidieo needle brige part is probably all gummed up with dirt/shit LOL J DONT KNOW DUDE IM REALLY LOW ON DOE AND WANNA GET IN THE WIND AND THIS CARB IS LEAKING GAS THROUGH THE OVERFLOW ...IS THIS A GOOD CARB COMPARED TO OTHER DIFFERENT ONES IT SAYS SHORTY ON IT AND IT LOOKS LIKE THIS ONE IN THIS VIDEO , AND ITS NOT TUNED RIGHT EITHER IT GOES TO 1000RPM TO SAY 2000 ITS JUMPS UP AND DOWN BETWEEN THEM NUMBERS THEN IT WILL JUST STALL OUT, AND ILL FIRE IT UP AGAIN , I REALLY LIKE THIS BIKE AND THIS CARB WHEN IT WAS GIVEN TO ME IT PURRED LIKE A KITTEN AND HAD BALLS, BUT ITS BEEN SITTING FOR YEARS NOW AND ONE DAY I THOUGHT I COULD JUST TUNE IT IN A LITTLE BETTER BUT I FCD IT UP WORSE THAN IT EVER WAS ANYWAYS IF THERES A GOOD PRODUCT OUT THERE TO POUR INTO MY GAS TANK FOR THIS TYPE OF BIKE ID BE GRATEFULL FOR ANYTIPS YOU GOT THNX BUD
float level, but do yourself a favor , until you learn about the carb. just put a factory CV carb on it.
I have a 2000 Bigdog 107 with a S&S super G ,,for a while the fuel line does not stay full with gas ,,,Tanks are recoated inside ,new gas line, filter and new rebuild kit on carb , and take pit cock any help would be great
my other bb fell out also i see your stayed mine fell out real easy you were flipping the bowl around and it stayed. is that an issue wouldnt seem to be just wondering super e is my card on a shovel thanks if i hear back
Nice job of disassembly. It's a bit short on tuning info though.
If I shut the enrichener off right away after starting, the bike isn't warmed up and doesn't stay lit.
What what about the jet in the main body of the carburetor? Down in the bottom of it
will u do a jetting 101 video plz.
Thanks for the suggestion. Every bike is different and its a feel type of thing, there is no way to show you exactly how to tune your specific bike, just steps to get it close. Check out this vid. czcams.com/video/I_uH72wDTL0/video.html
Guy: there are o-rings in here...
*reaches for knife*
Me: Oh boy..
name of the song at the beginig?
I have a question . Can a sns super e be feed by a fuel pump is anybody had try it before.
Wheres the reassembly video??
Why does my 08 k9 117 alway's backfires when I let off the throttle?
unfortunately we cant tune your bike on the inter webs, There is a reset you can do on the carb and you can try and tune it. www.sscycle.com/tech-info/carb-quick-guide and if you dont feel confident in trying to do it yourself then we suggest to take it to a professional who can dial it in for you. hope that helps.
Hey dude what state r u in?
Dude i have a hyler charger air cleaner should i take off and make sure the hole is open
Can i get more horspower just with å Bigger carborator
yes but only if you open up everything after the carb, cams, exhaust. .
Oh my.
When I set my throttle stop screw 1000 rpm run bike rpm drops by it self ......how to keep the throttle stop screw from moving ....
Why does my carburetor is leaking a lot a gas through that vent hole my friend, please help 🙏🏽
shoot helpdesk@lowbrowcustoms.com an email they can further assist you there. make sure to give them make and model of carb etc.
There are two balls I think not just one unless iv got it wrong
do you rebuild super e carbs? or just sell the kits?
Danny Mcguiness We just sell parts, sorry we don’t offer any in-house custom services for customers.
Peace on You ...Too
holy parts plugs
I'm rebuilding an S&S Super E the kit is Chinese nothing fits. This carburetor like every S&S I work on is flooding the bike. I personally hate S&S carburetors but when I put one on someone's bike they never want the CV-40 or used to be the Bendix carburetor back. I end up with a bunch of carburetors I just sold 11 CV-40's on Ebay in the last few months so that is a good.
This kit is made by SS by them www.lowbrowcustoms.com/products/s-and-s-cycle-rebuild-kit-super-e-carburetor-master-s-s-cycle-11-2923
Happy tuning accidents.....hehehe!!! Too funny!
Hiya bro!
I came to find out the exact way to put the acceletator pump back together ...nothing. Too much emphasis on buying lowbrow parts. Nothing on tuning the ac. Pump or air mix or idle. Gee thanx.
🤦🏻♂️😭the threads on the carb to secure the bowl stripped. Helicoil or just a bigger screw
never saw someone remove o-ring with knife...
Thank you for the video I'd like it better if it was more the camera was more Hands-On instead of flip-flopping back and forth
Let me know when you get one with a skull face and I'll change over=_)
I see you don’t respond much to comments. Was hoping somebody knowledgeable can explain why my bike runs differently every time I ride it? Is this carb just garbage or what?
I have a 05 fxdx with a s&s 124” twin cam & super e carb k&n filter teardrop cover. I have just under 3k miles on this motor.
Harley won’t work on the bike bc of all the mods.
I went through the standard settings procedure and adjusted when warm but then I ride and it idles too low. Adjust it then next day too low. Adjust it ride and it’s too high. Got it just right then when cold it hardly idles.
I had a mechanic look at it & he quickly turned all my screws notably the accelerator pump several turns and immediately started drinking gas.
Let it sit too long and went for a short ride and got my motor drenched in oil hopefully just blow by.
Then a no start but cleaned up plugs and it’s ok now. Thinking I need to dial it back down and get the plugs to stop fouling.
But that oil issue got me freaked out!!
When I got the bike it was fine. I rode it to CA from AZ soon as I got here idle changed. Noticed the vacuum nipple plug was off. Kept blowing off until I adjusted carb and got it to stay on which make a ton of difference when idling.
So idk right now my filter is wet so I’m gonna start over and turn it all back to the basic adjustment.
I’ve heard other people struggle with this carb too. Am I missing something? Is this junk or what?
@@devanallison1197 thanks. I went through the setup procedure a few times and got it just right. After a while it still wants to idle too low until it’s warm. Just got back from the mountains and didn’t have any problems whatsoever with altitude.
What...no spinney tickler.
“Walk through & tuning” first words, “we aren’t going to go over tuning it. I put over 2grand in a sportster in & out of a shop & still cant get it to stop backfiring and burning plugs & shooting flames
SS has a really good tuning guide. you may have to take your bike to a dyno if you really want it to dial in. I know not the info you want to hear but they even recommend it if you cant get it dialed. czcams.com/video/I_uH72wDTL0/video.html
Best thing to do with an S&S carb, bin it, buy a Mikuni.
I thought this was a tutorial... It seems like tele marketing. :)
The little says tuning. Then the opening words "not tuning"
can you and will you do a s/s 8 carb, disassem; and rebuild, install, for us butt heads that want to argue with ourselfs
A bit to casual
Man, I just can't get into S&S Carbs or anything S&S. I love the Evo, man. A lot say Rev Tech is a lot better than Evo, that may be true, but your Harley isn't a Harley with a Rev Tech Motor and S&S carbs/parts, I call them half breeds. Evo parts make a Harley a Harley, ya know original shit.. Just my opinion. I will never use S&S parts on my bikes I don't' care about going 200 mph. My bikes run great with the Evo, but I take really good care of them as well. But I am also the type if it isn't broke I ride the mfer. I don't start adding shit my bikes don't need at all to make them look pretty, as I said, I ride the mfer. Had a shit ton of compliments they way they are. Maybe I am just an old school.
Literally have this playing on the bench while rebuilding a Super E almost like he’s Bob Ross. “The Joy of Engine Aspiration with Todd from Lowbrow”
