This sex trafficking survivor protects girls from hell she endured.
If you had a sister, or a cousin, or a niece, or a daughter and somebody was selling her, wouldn't you want something done about that? One in four women in the United States will become victims of sexual violence. The U.S. Department of Justice estimates there are between 14,500 and 17,500 victims of sex trafficking per year in the United States alone. Emmy Myers, a local survivor of sex trafficking and advocate for victims, is working to change that statistic.
Myers's pimp kept her high pretty much all of the time and used drugs as a way to keep her from protesting the arrangement. Myers was “lucky” in a sense. None of the men she slept with were violent with her. Most of them were respected, successful career-driven men. Most of them had families at home. "This is what surprises America," Myers said. "It's not these big, fat smelly gross guys. It's often very prominent men in the community. The issue isn't just something from a Hollywood movie."
Myers is the founder of Lacey's Hope Project, a Wisconsin-based project she started in memory of a close friend and fellow victim of sex trafficking. While she was fortunately rescued, Myers emphasized this could happen to anyone. Her project's goal is to help raise awareness of modern day slavery by focusing on the signs and dangers of sex trafficking and survivors' healing processes. Listen to her story and learn more. Please help her get the message out!

It'll never stop until humanity goes extinct. Human trafficking occurs because of poverty and broken homes. The majority of victims of human trafficking are impoverished or come from households where they were neglected or abused and thus run away or look for comfort elsewhere, which is the perfect opportunity for traffickers to capture them like prey.

Exactly. These people (the abusers) need to be put to death by the state. Forget sending them to prison since prison nowadays has become a social hang out for many degenerates. There is no amount of suffering these people will ever experience in comparison to their victims. Ending their lives is the best we can do so they can never enjoy anything ever again.

I can believe this. I lived in the Suburbs about fourteen years ago. After the neighbours wife left him, he set up a brothel. It was such an unsuspecting location. It took ages for us in the neighbourhood to click what was going on because it was just so out of place. The first thing we noticed was that there were so many cars in the road suddenly. The men who came nearly all drove family cars and even had baby car seats in the back. It completely changed my view of every dad I knew on the school run. Then inevitably one of the dads turned up not realising I lived next door. I could see he was ashamed but it was too late. I knew why he was there. Worst of it was some of the girls were obvs too young and once there was a child. The police were not interested. It only ended when I confronted my neighbour, the home owner and said if I ever heard or saw a child in that house again he would regret it. He was gone within a week after that.

Most traffickers were either physically or sexually abused as children themselves, so they grow up believing it's normal. That's why they abuse others because it's all they know. This is exactly why abusive parents and spouses exist. People who are raised in abusive households 9 times out of 10 will grow up to abuse their partners and or future children.

After my experience I became a counselor for girls/ women who went through the same thing and had turned into addicts to cope with their trauma. It’s been difficult of course, particularly in retraining my brain all of the dysfunctional things that were normalized most of my life, but the feeling of being self sufficient and being able to think for myself has been enlightening! As well as the feeling of being able to validate myself and my own experiences. All women should attain the highest level of education that they are capable of and should live on their own and pay their own way for at least a few years before getting hooked into a relationship. Also, unless you are in love with your job, change jobs every few years. This used to be seen as irresponsible but today it is a necessity to explore many options and know how to do many things. They find a way to forgive em and assume they gonna change. That never happens ofc. If it aint a kidnapping, women usually have a way out but don't because of emotional input. Even the women I know and that are in my family who have been in abusive relationships. They chose to stick around even when there was options and people trying to help. Sweden has done some interesting work in this area that reduced trafficking, by shifting the criminal/ legal focus to the perps and men buying sex, and supporting the women (eg it's a human right NOT to be trafficked)...There are only so many self defense classes women/ kids can do, only so much blame and responsibility they can take (which should be none). Emmy you are an inspiration. Thank you for not sinking from this horrific experience but coming out the other side a strong survivor. And more importantly an educator about this bestial inhuman crime of sox trafficking, that somehow continues in every country in the world. Although we are not in caveman times.
For what it’s worth this story has a ring of truth that the other story Annekke did not have. Even the added detail of Emmy’s sisters witness testimony as simple as it is, is strong corroboration.
Emmy you’re amazing I’m so sorry you went through this horror story. But to turn that around into something positive and educational to others is the highest, highest achievement. I salute you and wish you safety and happiness in the future. Thank you for making a difference in other young peoples lives.

Didn't God utterly fail her, and every single other human ever enslaved, raped tortured or murdered? Did you know that 3% of all children die before age of 5 years old? That's approximately 15,000 each day. Every day. Yeah, sure, great god you've got there. One could even say he's really killing it!
