As an Indian, I feel extremely sad about the lack of coverage of the attack and murder of an Indian engineer by a white guy screaming "Get out of my country" in Kansas. If the situation had been reversed and brown guy had killed a white guy while screaming hateful shit, Trump-shit would have been the 1st to scream 'terrorist'. But this just showed in the strongest manner that the White House does not give a shit about the non-white population of USA. And if the killer is white then it's not terrorism but only a sad man with psychological problems. I would have hoped that atleast these shows would show something, but even they got swept up in drama of Trump's stupid shenanigans, as always. I hope the American people show some faith in humanity and show solidarity with the victim's family.

They said that if a person of color, especially someone Middle Eastern, had did the exact same thing (walk in to an establishment, guns blazing) they would indeed get labeled as a terrorist, regardless if it was an isolated incident. Endless coverage on their religion(emphasis on that), where they were raised, where their parents are from, how much money they make, who they've been fucking these past five years.... 'Terrorist' is gonna work it's way into the investigation. But if it's a white guy(Sandy Hook shooter, Kansas shooter, ect.) you bet your ass it's going to be endless coverage on how the guy was "mentally troubled. No one thought he would do that." More citizens in America get killed by white guys with guns than immigrants. But somehow, only one groups gets labeled as the terrorist. Strange.

Chris, I have been closely following various immigration bills; who introduced them, and who voted for/against them for quite a few years. My statement was based on that. Bills that encourage legal immigration by skilled workers (e.g. the I^2 act, or the Fairness for skilled immigrants bill) have mostly been tabled by Republicans, although some of them have been supported by some Democrats as well. On the other hand, Democrats have mostly proposed legislation that grant amnesty or privileges like driving license, healthcare, etc. to illegal immigrants. I am not against all of them but overall Democrats have done precious little to encourage legal immigration.
In his speech, Trump said that a merit based immigration scheme would allow America to attract the most educated and talented people from all over the world. No Democrat political seem to be supporting that. Most of the media including Colbert conveniently forgot this part as well. The legal immigrants that come here on work visas and similar are definitely not poor or uneducated. Compared to most refugees and illegal immigrants, they are miles ahead because otherwise they won't be granted a visa. Unfortunately, the Democratic party has chosen to ignore them completely while pandering to illegal immigrants; and I don't know what would change their mind.
