PS4 Slim Cleaning, Maintenance and Dusting

  • PS4 slim cleaning is not as difficult as it is in the earlier versions of the PS4. One of the main differences is that with the slim you can actually get to the fan and the heat sink without even removing the warranty sticker. The top cover has to come off, then the power supply needs to be loosened and a metal plate needs to be removed. After that you have easy access to the fan as well as the heat sink for cleaning.
    Dusting the PS4 is easily done using a dusting brush and some canned air or a vacuum. You can also use the dusting brush inside the PS4 slim on the fan and the heat sink.
    Overall PS4 slim maintenance is pretty easy, especially when you compare it to the older consoles.

      Maybe this is a delusion, but since the last system update, my Slim is more ventilating and a lot less warm... maybe Sony changed the fan control? Before the update, the Slim was silently and really warm, now the fan's kick in much earlier.

      Hmmm. Steve do you think you could make a video solely about false myths and then prove them wrong while also giving us proof on how they're false? I've noticed that in some videos you briefly debunk some myths here & there and I really really like that, but I'd really enjoy an entire video centered around the topic. Almost like a "Mythbusters" PS4/Xbox One edition.

  • @kylesmith6144
    @kylesmith6144 Před 7 měsíci +63

    For some of the newer ps4 slim models, you will find that the some of the screws are a sort-of melted plastic screw. It was like they poured plastic inside and let it solidify to prevent you from opening it. If your console has this, be extremely careful.
    I used a VERY small flat-head tip and carefully chisseled underneath them until the screw driver "beheaded" the top of them. Only then could I open it enough to blow out the heat sync and fan.
    I'm guessing this is a way to void your warranty.

    6:24 I just wanted to mention that I appreciated this video but when I cracked open my sons's PS4 slim with the intention of removing this metal plate I found that the 8 screws were NOT infact screws. On this model PS4 slim, an Australian release Battlefront 2 Grey CUH-2102B the 8 screws you remove at this point are all plastic pressed and so far I've not found an easy way to remove them without getting aggressive and possibly breaking them. Once out if possible I doubt they would go back in either. Big disappointment as his PS4 air intake vents and fan are quite dirty and I wanted to give it a good clean out but looks like Sony decided they don't want this plate removed at least on this model.
    EDIT: Just found your video on removing these czcams.com/video/dXH-c8hkueM/video.html You are a champion :)

    Thanks to this vid I cleaned my ps4 and it was dirty Af from the inside. Anyone worried about the black plastic melted bolts just get a plier and start squashing it ( but be very careful) the quality of the plastic bolt is cheap, you can just smooth it out enough to get the metal plate off but once again be very very careful doing this.

    Actually, it draws air in from the front of the ps4. Between the 2 usb ports. Kind of hard to notice but it does draw from there. Those vents on the side are for stagnant heat and it blows the hot air out the back
