- And it looks like I'm not done playing Pokemon Yellow remakes... except this one is a little different.
Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu GBA was made by Kevin Pokefan, and here I'm playing version 6.0 as the more recently released 7.0 has yet to be translated into English.
And honestly, so much of English 6.0 is in the same boat, especially after a certain point in the story, almost none of it is in English.
But honestly, that's fine. I still finished it regardless. Had to use some cheats to walk through arbitrary walls that I just could not figure out, but still finished it.
The game is obviously an attempted GBA demake of Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu for Nintendo Switch, and aims to be as faithful as possible... with more than a few exceptions.
The sprites are custom Generation 4 sprites, and you have over-world sprites for just about every Pokemon in the game. Including this fun main character sprite where Pikachu, the lazy rat, just sits on the trainers hat 24/7.
Freeloading electric mouse.
The Pokemon run around in the over-world, not in wild grass, except for a few sections here and there, making the game really more fun and navigable.
Sure, it takes the randomness out of catching wild Pokemon, but I found it really made my playthrough much better and less tedious.
It really allowed me to build a team that I wanted, as I quickly could see all of the wild pokemon available to catch in each route.
Sure there's slowdown when there's a crap load of Pokemon on screen at once, but it's honestly never that bad.
Obviously I stuck with Pikachu, randomly found some starters in the PC box, so I used an Intelion, a shiny Muk, a Corviknight, a Gardevoir, and a Primeape.
And yes, you did notice that right, there's way more than just the original 151 Pokemon in this rom hack, going all the way up to Generation 8.

I want this more than 3D pokemon games. Screw open world and all that, I want GBA/DS style Pokemon back!
There's a reason I haven't played through any Pokemon after Sun/Moon. It's not just nostalgia, there is a unique, re-playable formula to these games.

Wow the visuals are really impressive! Even if it’s not fully translated it’s awesome to see so much love go into this romhack. Now I’m curious about the SwSh demake I’ve seen floating around too
I too am curious to check out the Sword and Shield demakes. As well as the Scarlet and Violet demakes. The beauty of Let's Go GBA is that I know how to finish the game regardless of it being in English. But if those newer demakes aren't in English, I'd be helpless as to know what to do.
@@anotherblowncartridge I believe there is a partial English translation for the SwSh one, similar to this Let’s Go one. Unsure about the SV demake though.
@@CatsandDragons7 Yeah, I finally found the Sword and Shield demake that's been translated, though it's too bad as theres an upgraded version called Sword and Shield ultimate that the translator has fully said on his CZcams channel that he has no interest in translating. Though the version he's worked on seems competent enough. Maybe itll be another episode of ROM Hacked soon.

Cool that theres a version of Lets Go where you can do more than just catch wild pokemon with motion controls
And you get a shiny Mew and Irshifu
If roll playing as deaf is the price I have to pay to revisit Kanto with every time saving, grind avoiding feature out there then so be it.
Role-playing deaf has its advantages. Who likes talking to NPCs anyway?

Is this still the latest version of the custom ROM to date?
Nope, there's been two new versions that have since released. Unfortunately, versions 7 and 8 remained untranslated into English. But 6 is still mostly translated, and it's still really fun and worth a try.

I really wish there was a full translated version of this game. It looks really good.

is this good for PC or are the controls weird?
Emulating it on PC is probably just fine! Though I'd recommend playing with a gamepad

@@pokemontas8025 Pokemon is one of those game franchises with pretty easy controls. So playing on a keyboard will probably be very easy. Not like playing action-RPGs or platformers where you'd really need a gamepad. Play however you want.
