      Hello there, "FastPass Facts". I would say that my least favorite "Animatronic" On this list is of course, The "Small World" Animatronics at "Suzhou Amusement Park". The so-called "Animatronics" In this "Ride" Are in terrible condition, witch makes me fulminate very much, and makes me as questions sort of as "Why wont the Amusement Park restore the animatronics?", "Do the poor Animatronics even have Air Valves?", "Does he park not have enough money to restore the Animatronics, or are the Huayi Brothers (Owners of the park) just idle?" I have many questions, and I do want answers! Really, who would ever treat such poor, poor, Animatronics as that? I love Animatronics (Just as all of you reading this discernment do), but I just very, very much dislike what this park does to their own ride. I am not only giving at least 10/10 to the Animatronics, but to the park itself. (And if you are asking for my overuse of "Quotation Marks" I love them very much.)

    I don't know about the mechanical costs of running an amusement attraction in detail. But I'm sort of in awe of how so many animatronics can be visibly falling apart when they must've cost good money to install.

      Most of the money goes into making the more mobile parts of the rides are safe. Things like animatronics are only repaired when people stop going on the attraction in most theme parks.

  • @QueArres
    @QueArres Před 2 lety +139

    Stitch was definitely a guilty pleasure attraction for me, especially during my internship at WDW. It was one of the three attractions I operated as a Tomorrowland CM, and I can STILL recite most of the script by heart. I think the saddest thing about the Stitch animatronic, though, is how it was basically left to go into disrepair. I worked their September 2008 thru January 2009, and both animatronics in the show were losing a lot of their range of motion; I remember the ears not moving on one of them in particular. Still, I miss there being a Stitch themed attraction.
    I don't, however, miss coming home from work smelling like chili dogs.

    Unpopular opinion, the Stitches Great Escape experience was a staple of my childhood and as an adult, I'm heartbroken it closed down. Honestly, if I could pick any attraction to bring back it would be it. I still remember my last time seeing it and I still found it entertaining, not to mention the animatronic being impressive and adorable. Zero on the hate scale, but I see why it's not for everyone.

    I know you mentioned this, but I can’t really say Stitch and Iago belong here just because the overall attraction they’re in isn’t good.
    That’s not much different than claiming Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger or Ben Affleck as Batman were terrible at playing the characters. They really weren’t, the films themselves just weren’t all that great.

    That Stitch animatronic deserved a ride worthy of him. Because for an animatronic, it was amazingly complex and advanced. The fact that you hardly got to see him in Stitch's Great Escape because the lights were off most of the attraction didn't help, either.

      Basically Eisner (I think) wanted a thriller attraction to bring in teenagers and young adults with no kids, since they were an untapped market for disney attractions. He wanted to make an Alien attraction, but that got shut down even when they already had the rights for Alien to make a scene in The Great Movie Ride with the xenomorphs. Eisner had his writing team make a new script that eventually got okay'd.
      Though if they stuck with Alien like originally planned there would've been a lot less controversy and it would've lasted longer since parents knew about the Alien franchise more than they'd know about the new alien attraction that just opened in Magic Kingdom.

    (unpopular opinion) I think with some refreb and rewriting, they could have saved Stitches Great Escape. Take out the chili dog smell, the Stitch on your shoulders and under your seat effect, and you could have a decent attraction. I just think it was a shame that we let the Stitch animatronic die like that, especially since it was such a good animatronic! (More unpopular opinions) Or they could have taken Stitch, refrebish him, and maybe overlay The Enchanted Tiki Room to the Enchanted Tiki Room: Stitch Presents Aloha E Komo Mai like in Tokyo.

    Fun fact about the broken jaw Rex from the end of jjbr, it was added after the mechanism that rose the boat up toward the snake broke, and the reason for its jaw being damaged is due to how close it was to the boat causing a lot of people to end up punching it in the jaw out of fear and they don’t want to fix it due to the costs of doing so would not be worth it due to how commonly it would be broken. In my opinion though I think it adds to the fear factor of the ride, along with things like the large pterodactyl that makes dial up sounds.

    The hate for the Stitch ride comes primarily from the people that enjoyed the Alien encounter. I was lucky enough to experience it a few times. At the time, it was phenomenal but I was also a young adult at the time and enjoyed the heck out of a more adult-themed ride but *every time* the ride was over there were at least one, if not two crying children so it's no surprise it was changed. There were plenty of signs suggesting a more mature experience at the entry but people don't read I suppose. I'm rather sad they removed it as the animatronics to it were top of the line at the time. The preshow was brilliant and the earlier version had a character voiced by Tim Curry which was amazing. I'm not surprised they changed it but... they rebranded it entirely and we lost a treasure of story and experience. They could have toned it down, but instead, we got a half-assed Stitch copycat in its place and it just was never the same and didn't feel proper to Lilo and Stitch in the slightest. But that disappointment seems to come from only the few that got to experience the original. I still have the stuffed animal of the creature from the preshow, and I'll treasure it forever.

    Admittedly, I don't quite think animatronics can become particularly "hated" without extraordinary circumstances. The problems inherent to attractions like Stitch's Great Escape, Tiki Room: Under New Management, or Jurassic Jungle Boat Ride are not the fault of the animatronics. They're the fault of a fundamental lack of care in some sector of their creation or operation, whether it be a hasty, improperly planned replacement for an attraction, or people not wanting to/not being able to put resources into expensive maintenance.

    I saw this and clicked on it because I saw the stitch ride, but I was kind of disappointed by how cute you made it seem. When I was a kid, that shit scared me! I saw him come up with his animal like behavior accompanied by strobe lights...then the lights went off and the chair made it seem like he was breathing on your neck. It was scary for a little kid like I was at the time. That's why I hated it. I seriously feel like I was traumatized by that ride lol.

      I feel you! When I was a kid, I just hated how obnoxious and "in your face" the whole ordeal was -- and it's mostly in the dark, so there was no animatronic needed to pull off that experience. It felt lazy and annoying, not entertaining. I don't miss this ride one bit.

    Jurassic boat ride could be amazing if it was just given some TLC because the animatronics look pretty cool

    I actually used to be scared of what was left of the Stitch animatronic and the thumbnail of yesterworld's video about the ride made me not want to go on youtube ever again for a week.

    Rest in peace, Stitch’s Great Escape. 2004-2018. Goodbye and good riddance to that worst attraction that Disney ever created at the Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World in Florida.

    I think Iago being obnoxious was the whole point of the “new management.”

    • @NatYourAverageNerd
      @NatYourAverageNerd Před rokem

      Yeah, and that's exactly why I hated it as a kid. I loved the original Tiki Room, so hearing Iago talking badly about it felt like a bit of a personal attack -- especially since I knew back then that it was one of Walt's prized original attractions with the legacy of having been the first to offer working animatronics. Maybe I was a bit too informed for a kid, but the fact that a character I loved from Aladdin was trashing the Tiki Room's reputation did not sit well with me.
