I love how she tries to escape the racism by going *backwards* in time
well tbh the last universal common ancestor probably wasn't racist.
actually it probably was...
@@noobynoob138 it’s all… racism? Always has been - bang bang pew pew

The good news is that racism isn't a problem anymore in 2095...because we destroyed the planet, and there are no more Humans left anymore.

But that was obvious to me immediately
I just noticed that

I only just realized she put her dresses on top of each other after I read your comment 😂 now I can't not see it!!
Holy crap I didnt know this until you commented
when people say “i was born in the wrong decade” what they really mean is “i just think the aesthetic/fashion of that decade was super cool”
Or they mean they were predicted to be born in early January but were born early/should have been born late December but were born late. Then again, that might just be me who says that.
That works though
Sounds about right
and then they only look at the inaccurate stereotypical fashion of that decade
@Magic is Midoriya. wdym?
As a fan of vintage clothes and music, we say in the community "Vintage fashion, not vintage values"

And also white, male, straight, and impervious to diseases that didn't have cures or vaccines yet.
And with indestructible teeth - And access to clean water, and the food would be far cleaner and hygienic.

only when it became legal to be christian, if you were before that you would be tortured or killed by the roman government or before Jesus actually existed where you would of been hailed as a heretic and cultist.

Austin Reed Slavery and genocide happened in the 1770s also...
D-tail Games no there is no evidence at all to support that

Non-British-accented Siobhan is the most chilling thing I've experienced in a bit.
I can’t think of the channels name, but there’s a really cool video of her doing like 17 different accents from across the UK. By the end of it I can never remember what her actual accent sounds like!
"I was born in the wrong decade" means one of 2 things: "I like the good parts and never thought through the bad parts" or "I thought about the bad parts and my mind twisted it into thinking I would either not be effected, or that the bad parts are worth the good" either way... I was born in the exactly right decade for me
Or that I'm sick of the bs my generation is pulling and yearn for a time I've only heard about in stories from older family members or my incomplete schooling on those decades.
Or that I'm a dumb dumb who believes what I see on tv and think that sit coms like Happy Days, the Brady Bunch or Punky Brewster is all there was to living in those eras.
...
@@bel4417 To me it seems ironic to say things are getting worse due to religion but to say they were better at a time that was, at least by today's standards, largely characterized by that religion. (Back then there were people who literally considered themselves "Christian" because, in their words, they were "born in a Christian country," but today we're so far removed from that era that you can say "America was never a Christian country" without sounding delusional.)
@@noneya3635Aaaayyyyyyyee punky Brewster slaps!

So, when people say they were "born in the wrong decade", what they really mean is "I enjoy the aesthetic of the decade" and basically act as if living in a romanticized vision of that area will be rosy and nostalgic and shit.
I'm not sure what's stopping you from wearing a full petticoat or flapper dress, so if you want to do that then go for it.

George Corbul then you're not delusional
Yeah i dont think 1970s would be that bad, and im white so segregation dont affect me.

Meanwhile in the future:
“A decade I would’ve *obliterated* it in would be the 2020s.”
“But in the 2020s coronavirus was going around and people thought the earth was flat.”
Coronavirus would still be around in the future. But they probably managed it better.
Oh they'll have bigger things to worry about:
- ww3 or just 3 more american wars
- all the prejudice and racism that come with war propaganda
- drug resistant super bugs
- severe refugee crisis from areas like Maldives going extinct
- Jesus

@@redactedallvegemight8415 The fact that some people have it worse than others doesn't automatically invalidate the issues someone has.

Sometimes I wish I could see what the 1940's-1960's was like, but I'm black.
We're not even safe now. We'd have to go before white people started going to Africa.
Exactly. I would have been killed.
Emanuel Dixson Yeah. Us black folk _would_ have been relatively safer then, but don't forget that before colonial times, the whole continent was ruled by dozens of ethnic tribes, empires, kingdoms, and city states that were at war with each other because of competition for Africa's rich abundance of fertile land and natural resources such as cocoa, gold, silver, copper, cotton, gems, wheat, corn: E.g. The Bantu Empire, Carthage, the Kemetians (Egyptians), Nubians, the Axum, the Beninians, Ghana Empire, the Kingdom of Zimbabwe, the Ethiopian Empire, the Mali empire, and the Songhai empire.
Emmanuel Wilson Oh no. Those things were already being produced there naturally. Not in _all_ of Africa, but some parts of it.
If you didn't live in the south, you'd be alright.

I think the clear point is that every era has it's pros and cons, and you can't just take the "fun" stuff without the bad. It' okay to be attracted to some ideas and aesthetics, but don't delude yourself thinking that it was a golden time where nothing was wrong.
This is why history bounding is such a great thing. You can enjoy the fashion without having the bad stuff.

About living in the 1920's, you would've had to go through the Great Depression and possibly die of starvation and THEN if you survive that, you drafted and shipped off to Europe or the Pacific and possibly get killed fighting the Germans or the Japanese.
THEN if you survive WW2, you enter the Cold War era where you have to worry about getting blown away in a nuclear war or getting called a Communist and sent to prison or getting killed by racists if you complain even slightly about segregation.
Basically, the 1920's was NOT an ideal time to be alive.....
There's no "good time to be alive". As much as people romanticize the past, it's always been horrible to be alive, and it's only slightly better now. Yes, the present day is shitty, but I'd rather be alive now then have to live in an era where I could catch the plague, or be enslaved as a prisoner of war, or get shit dropped on my head back when people took a shit in buckets and emptied them out the window.
@Neronian Diamanti There was also the embassy siege in Iran and an economic decline. But yeah, the 70s were definitely a better time than others in terms of social tolerance.

AnnaIsNotABanana not just that but you would also experience 9/11, a tragic day where 3,000 people died.

Heheheh 2020
This aged like milk.
2020: lol same
1:03 … the ragtime melody playing sounds like the Windows shutdown jingle…
Just the beginning tho.
I know someone who was born mid December 1999. She was born a few weeks early, her due date was sometime in January 2000. She was actually legitimately born in the wrong decade lol
Really? I'd like to be born before that! I was born in 2003 it feels like such a missed opportunity since I was born only a few years after the turn of the millennium.
reminds me of the “born to late to explore the earth, born to early to explore the galaxy” thing
born in time to meme.
Born just in time to explore D A N K M E M E S
It's so easy to explore the earth now tho. We got planes and cars.
If you explore the Earth, you die. If you explore the galaxy, you die. It's better to stay at home and watch Netflix.
Born just in time to explore the entirety of the human genome though, cheer up bud.
I wish I could go back like two years ago when everyone laughed at the idea of Trump being president.
Anonymous lol. or say the Simpsons was right. (Bart to the Future.)
I generally wish I could go back in time after finding out basically everything there is to find out and tell everyone about that shit. Groening did it.
Can't go back now brother, We are stuck like this...
Anonymous way to bring politics into a video that had nothing to do with it. Just shut up dude. You're just gonna start a flame war
Anonymous yeah^^
Every generation has said this, People in 1920s were nostalgic about the 1890s-1900s, people in 1940s and 1950s were nostalgic about the 20s, People in the 70s and 80s were nostalgic about the 50s and 60s, People in the 90s were nostalgic for the 70s and 60s,. In the 2000s people were nostalgic about the 70s and 80s. in the 2010s its about the 80s and 90s, and in 2020, it's the 2000s and the 90s.
People have an idealized version of a time period which they didn't live in or were too young to experience
It’s just a full circle. If those girls who say they wished lived in the 90s lived then they’d say that they like the the 60s better
That use of sound effects is great
Zack was definitely cleopatra in his other life though.
Definitely.
Totally.
the battlefield loadout champion, you are famous :P
+Sniper Lol it's been a while since someone recognized me.
I was born in the wrong decade, I should've been born in the far future where I wouldn't have to do anything.
Same dude, I wish I wasn't born during the modern equivalent of Victorian times in my country
Unless... M.A.D. Mutually assured destruction.
+Aveyago if the future is like fallout 4 then im out
forget the promise of progress and understanding for so much has been lost never to be recovered, For in the grim darkness of the far future there is only war and the laughter of thirsting gods
Then you should have been born far in the past. Dead men don't have to work.
I was hoping there was gonna be some ending where they were like "But you live now where you can do whatever you want and nobody cares." But Zac single handedly made that ending 1000 times better than mine.
"Or a Waltz"
Proceeds by dancing a piece that is clearly in 4/4
Trapp is saying exactly what I'm thinking in my mind every time the comments section is talking about just how much better the past was or that the world is getting worse and worse.
some parts of the world may be getting worse but overall we have improved in many things. people tend to overlook the positives
What are the positives? More monarchies? No. Less socialism? No.
Adam Gawlowski minority groups have more rights then they did back then and aren't getting killed or being treated less then human as much like back then. Like I feel like that's a pretty big positive
Adam Gawlowski Medical science has improved greatly so people in many parts of the world can live longer and healthier lives. I'd say that's pretty good. Not all countries benefit from this, but many do so it's still better than nothing.
Standards of living are much better for an increasing percentage of people.
Summary: Loving the aesthetic of the decade is super different from loving the decade itself
Vito Corleone like trapp said that’s how time works.
im not even kidding, this helped me a lot with remembering events for my ap us history test tmr. thank you dropout previously college humor
“Yeah that’s right, that’s how time works!” Holy shit I died 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I would have really killed it in the 2010’s
Maybe that’s because that’s the only decade I can fucking remember
Callmeacne 12
Smooth Criminal sadly you were dead mj 💀
Callmeacne yeah
Callmeacne btw favorite comment
I'm 12 aswell. I only remembered a little of 2008-2009.
I couldn’t have been happier to find this sketch after a friend of mine said he should’ve been born in the 80’s: this man couldn’t have a full five minutes without his phone.
When they say "I wish I was born in a different decade",
they're probably wishing to be born caucasian, rich, with european descent, son of an influential political figure and college-educated.
Don't forget cisgender and heterosexual.
And able-bodied.
SHE KEEPS PUTTING HER COSTUMES UPON OTHER COSTUMES.
Lizzylovesbowties holy shit I didn't see that
Deklan Madden It takes a bit to nodice but it drives me nutz
But I wanna live in the revalutonary area.
Lizzylovesbowties being a Greek in ancient Egypt wouldn't have been half bad tbh
I wanna do it so I can Marry hamilton or...I was born in the wrong decide...I need to be born the day they and fight spinners
People in 2070: "I wish I was in 2020..."
2020 people: "DO YOU WANNA CATCH THE CORONAVIRUS AND DIE?!?!?!"
@Dragostea Din Tei cool.
Alina Del Rey good for you, you’re an exception, not the rule.
People in 2070: Yes
@Alina Del Rey oh my friend got hit by a car but survived so I guess getting hit by a car is not that bad
Alina Del Rey actually, you’re an exception. If you have an extremely weak immune system and get corona, most people will not do as well as you did.
i love how the dresses keep stacking
"You guys ever get the feeling like maybe you were born in the wrong decade"
Everyone in 2020: *YES!*
how would someone born in 2020 be able to speak or you know, sentient yet
The corona virus won’t be a decade defining thing either
When people say "I should have been born in this or that decade because the music was better" it always makes me want to facepalm so hard. It's 2016, all of that music STILL EXISTS, and you can get it for cheaper than you could have ever before (if even paying at all). And you can meet people on the Internet who got together because of their love for that music so finding people to discuss it with is easier. And besides, popular music may not be of your liking, but what you don't know is that the shitty music from back then doesn't filter down to our times, we don't remember it. And there is soooo much more good music nowadays, so many people are able to produce music at amazing production levels completely impossible for them in earlier decades and they can share it with anyone in the world, if you got off your ass and looked for it a little you would find a lot of great music and music that fits your own personal tastes.
But mostly: the music back then STILL EXISTS. You can listen to the music from all the "cool music decades" in one sitting. It's the benefit of being in the future.
?????????
I get your point, not sure why you felt the need to write a short story about the topic though
+forman208 because people who complain about music from today are annoying as fuck
Ah yes, all the music still exists and could be downloaded, but certain aspects will never be able to be revived in later decades. Example being concerts. People who are born in later generations may love My chemical romance ( a recent reference). Their music will be around, but that person will NEVER be able to see them live in concert because the band has been broken up. Or maybe they are a fan of Tupac, no live concerts for him either. No, that person may never experience the anticipation of waiting for a CD to be released, or a possible meet n' greet. While yes, there is the pro of being in the future of meeting people who like the same band as you, there are also people who will shit on your opinion even though it doesn't affect them in the SLIGHTEST (I know i'm being a little hypocritical, but people who exclaim that people annoy them for stating their opinion irk me just a tiny bit ;) ). Also, you're being a little judgemental believing that the person who states that opinion hasn't tried to find music that fit their own taste. POSSIBLY, they had searched for music that fit their taste, and their music comes from a different decade's pop rather than our own because I can see why some people don't like it with the negative messages in reference to girls some of the time. So! I would kindly suggest to make the world a better and happier place for all, that you kindly hold that sour and judgemental opinion you have of people for saying some words that is also your opinion and does not hold as much weight as your's. Seeing as I don't want to be hypocritical, I will say you do not have to pay attention to this at all c: have a good day
+Aneesa Smith Goodness gracious are you embarrassing.
This is what happens when you say “I was born in the wrong generation” to a historian.
Yep
not a historian more like someone is not dumb and privileged
Historians don't get invited to parties
Accurate
Idk man, as a historian I think it's just harshing peoples vibe for no good reaso
I’m not sure if this was intentional, but it was a great touch that the fashion was off, considering crinolines weren’t invented till the 1850s
At least my grandparents don't miss "the good old days". Life sucked for people in my country back then. My mom was born in the 60's and they didn't have a fridge until the 70's and a TV and a phone at home until the early 80's.
Being British, Her 60's didn't have segregation...
wow they had some heavy racial issues though. watch a movie called "guess who's coming to dinner?". sidney poitier film. you'll see how it wasn't all roses
she would have had to deal with Dr. No, goldfinger and Blofeld
Space Cadet I'm not denying that, there was a lot of racism, the 1950s-1970's were a time of massive social and demographic changes in Britain, To me it kinda feels like the 70's could have been more racist than the 60s though. But yeah you also have Smethick 1964 Election, the 1st sentence on BBC 2 included "Dirty Wog" (Not sure in what context though) Also Black face was thing I.e Ministerial performances etc Although from what I have heard and seem on TV documentaries about the past in Britain.
she also didn't have FREEDOM *bald eagle screeches in the distance
+HarryWessex there is nothing wrong with black face
sorry Zac and Shivan but I was Cleopatra in a past life
*Siobhan
+james callanan That's really her name? I thought it was with a 'v' the whole time
Trust me. I'm Irish.
+Joe Vargas yea, they spelled it in "Stop Naming Your Kid Michael"
No, I was.
Trap is on point. I always think about how good we have it these days compared to the past. Air conditioning, washing machines, microwaves etc. Can you imagine taking hours of your day to cook a meal or clean your clothes?
THANK you
I don't want to live in another decade, I just want to wear vintage clothes. Like, I want to read memes on my phone while I'm wearing a victorian dress
I’d like to look like a rich man in the 1880s while eating at Taco Bell
@@UnethicalGamer22 Not bad

Same!
I'd like that too!
Life is too short. DO IT AND APOLOGIZE TO NO ONE.
I dress vintage (1950s) everyday, but i wouldn’t want to live in the 50s. Visit it for a month, maybe, but the 50s were such terible times. I just really REALLY love the aestetic.
Felipe Faraj you’re a 10 year old boy... we can see videos on your youtube channel
@@qwello1928 well, i was a 10 yo boy... 5 years ago. you see, this videos were posted in my childhood when i liked playing with angry birds and stuff. but now im in teenagehood, just check the release dates and you will see.
I hear you. Just the Victorian, medieval (fantasyish), colonial America aesthetic. All of them. Not combined, but all of them.
@@jas6246 finally someone that gets me!
I dress 50s too. I wouldn’t want to live in the 50s especially because I’m a black female, so probably wouldn’t be a good time for me.
I could have watched the moon landing or listened to music from that decade... you can still do that now.
Me and my family were talking about how cool 1950/60’s cars were. One of my cousins said he wished he lived back then but I mentioned how it actually would’ve really sucked. What with segregation, the Cold War, McCarthyism and what would lead to the vietnam war it would’ve been terrible. Bring back the sleek car designs leave the rest.
But apparently I wasn’t being pro American enough so the 1950’s were a wonderful time where nothing bad happened.
"Yeah that's right, that's how time works!"
I dont wish i was born in another generation, i just wish my favourite singers were alive
Haruna Hideki me too.
Na not really
Nope, they is all dead for good
I feel you bro :’(
Michael... John... Prince... Jimi... Freddie... I miss them so much...
I love how she had the same dress from the previous decade under each one
i'm just now noticing that she keeps layering her outfits on top of each other. nice touch.
You know what decade I would've killed it in? The one where dinosaurs weren't fully developed and small. I would've been the apex predator
so a time where there are no clothes, no other people (so no procreating or sex or conversations ever) and the chemical composition of the air is different so breathing would likely be hard
Um you know, they was other apex predator before the dinosaurs right? Inostrancevia look that creature up, it a example of a apex predator before the dinosaurs and it would rip you to shreds. Was over 10ft long with a massive skull and massive teeth.
Well good luck.
Humans weren't even around them you fucking moron. You make me ashamed to be british
You would of unleashed fusturistic diseases on the diansours(probaly wippimg out what would of evolved into humans) and the would of unlesaed preastoric dieseases on you(most likely killing you)
Clowntrooper That was a joke. You make me ashamed to be human
"ugh, i'm 11 and I listen to classic rock because my dad told me to instead of letting me develop my own taste in music and it's the best. I was born in the wrong generation!!"
fucking thank you
Actually a genuinely prefer classic music over pop music today even though it's not my favorite genre. But you do you I guess.
+Ventroid Thats fine mate, listen to whatever you want. I don't believe he was poking fun at people who genuinely prefer this over that. cheers.
+Ventroid that's completely fine, but the people that say stuff like "I was born in the wrong generation" or "x was better before and now it's crap" for attention are dipshits, also it's exactly what this video is making fun of
Filfthy Frank does not approve
For me it's about the clothing. I don't want the decade, I want all the fashion and none of the drama.
Siobahn is an incredible actress.
That face at 0:46 is worth a thousand words, and the Cleopatra bit was extremely convincing.
